  1. Yesterday
  2. Jeff, you really are next level bougie. This is very cool.
  3. A friend and I had been talking last year about doing Mt Washington / Tucks. Schedules and weather aligned for a day trip. We were wheels up 7:50am, touched down around 9:15am in Berlin, NH. Grabbed the "rental" (aka the town's old cop caar) and we drove the 35 minutes to the trailhead. We were on our way up by 10:30am. Similar to the last time I did Tucks with @GSSucks and @Justo8484, the Sherbie cross over was ~1.5 miles in. In reality, probably could have started skinning before that as there was snow, but we donned our boots at the cross over, ditched our shoes in the woods, and were on our way to the Hojo's. Got there around 12pm, quick snack, and then we were on our way up to the ravine floor. I was surprise to see how little snow there was compared to my previous visit, so we decided to boot up Left Gully with the option to either ski down, head back up, and then over to Hillman's for the descent. After an easy boot up, we reached the top of the ravine ~1:25pm with no wind under mostly cloudy skies (as forecasted). We decided in the interest of time, weather, and energy, we'd head over to Hillman's as there was some rain and lower clouds in the area. Quick rock scramble over and we were on our way down. Some sporty Sherbie sections always makes for a fun end to the day. Back at the crossover, on went the shoes, and in came some rain which lasted for about 20 minutes or so. It was semi-refreshing as temps were well into the 60s. We got back to the car at 4pm after an elapsed 5h30m. Unfortunately, no celebratory beer as there was still work left to be done. We enjoyed the feeling of putting on flip flops, packed up, and got to the airport around 5pm. Packed up the plane, fueled it up, chatted with an old timer for a little, and we were in the air at 5:40pm with some weather between us and our destination. We climbed to 18,000 and we were in and out of the clouds and icing conditions for most of the flight. I flew the return leg, and I managed to have a decent landing at 7:30pm despite never landing that type of plane before to finish off an awesome day.
  4. Last week
  5. James 84k vert was impressive at Whistler especially with spring conditions..now think about the 24 hours of Aspen..and the silver Queen gondola is not quite as efficient as some of the high speed quads and six’s because it covers a lot of linear terrain and you have to take your skis off and back on unless you’re @saltyant but gondola comfortable if bad weather or you wanna eat. I still prefer chairlifts
  6. He apparently did 137K. More than any of Donnay's 100k+ days. He did that on days we have night skiing.
  7. 100k vertical attempt at Whistler by James from rise and alpine. Ski fast rip ass!! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0CpGmbS81dQ
  8. Satellite hot spot and smoke forecast
  9. The rhododendron were so thick in there. It must have taken it 100 years to fill in like that after the logging stopped. Oh and apparently there's a huge wildfire in South Jersey. 3200 acres burned. 3000 people evacuated so far and the Garden State Parkway is shutdown. Only 5% contained and I just heard about that. Wild.
  10. Satellite hot spot from Gaia GPS
  11. If you like to camp there’s a nice spot behind the cliff in the video. Mount Pisgah behind North st in Jim Thorpe is our go to spot for overlooks.
  12. Awesome views from there. All around Lehigh gorge actually has some of the best overlooks in the area.
  13. That was a good read. The Hobacks at Jackson hole was created due to a fire. I actually just paid fire insurance for work..
  14. My father-in-law used to live across the river from that spot. I would stand on his front porch many days and look at all the potential ski lines. When the D&L trail went in I was pretty excited of the possibility of skinning up to that point. I hiked (crawled) it a couple times. There’s a 10’ high rock spine with pine trees on both sides that went up in flames last night. In February if 2014 there was finally enough snow. My niece wanted to go but the day before she cracked a vertebrae at Blue and canceled.A couple hours later she called me back and asked if I had a backpack, so I carried her stuff, She’s one bad ass girl! We started at Weissport at 10 am and skinned up 2.5 miles and after a rest at the observation platform attempted to skin up but kick turns were difficult so we figured out if we put our back against a tree it was possible. The snow was perfect but we waisted a fair amount of vertical before figuring out how to ski it. I didn’t know at the time that one of my friends had 20 acres on the north side so now it’s a half hour skin up. I’ve hiked it a couple times with my son One really cool place! I’m thinking arson off the D&L after looking at the two places early on . IMG_0543.mov
  15. I guess the majority of people consume media on the their phones these days, but I still think vertical video sucks.
  16. Sad. I've rode by it a bunch of times but never stopped to check it out. Was up that way yesterday and the smoke was thick and impossible to miss. Up to 600 acres as of last night and yesterday's wind wasn't helping it slow down.
  17. I didn’t even know that was there. Damn
  18. Found a picture of my FIL in front. Latest word it’s done.
  19. The one on the D&L trail a mile south of Jim Thorpe. No rain in the forecast and moderate winds the next couple days.
  20. Which observation deck? The one up on flagstaff or the 100 mile view? Either way this sucks. Lots of homes near there. You can smell it up this way.
  21. Rt209 shutdown though Packerton . The observation deck on the East side of the river is in danger.
  22. Earlier
  23. Jim Thorpe fire, A Bc ski line of mine. Lots of big rocks. Photo from Justin Selig storm chaser.
  24. Good to hear I heard during the monsoons it was raining men and your sister Jaya Singhvi was in heaven…rumor has it around Gulmarg hill station and the Tobyhanna Dunkin’ Donuts that her goat curry and rice brings all the boys to the yard..
  25. I know…crazy. My daughter said she might head up today. If it keeps snowing you never know, could be open when you go. I think may 5th or something is around there is officially the closing date, but that could change. Crazy that they’re pushing 200 inches when they were in a drought the first 4 months of the season.
  26. Snowing again. I’ll be out in mid May but I doubt they’ll be open.
