  4. Came out after a short break, about 9:30, to find Midway totally bumped up from edge to edge, causing havoc for all the beginners and boarders. Bumps on 3rd day of season in November, doesn't get much better than that!

  5. That's fine, but Camelback is going to open before Blue next season and will be closed on every other weekday that TP4 has off. Its just the way things work.

  6. My post was kind of relevant. I cant use my $399 CB season pass, so I need to dish out $40 per weekend at Blue for the foreseeable future. Which is why I'll be getting a Blue pass next season.

  9. I hope you like snowtubing. Camelback is going to be late to the game opening slopes. The cold air that people thought would be in place now stayed up north or whatever, so this is going to be an interesting 2-3 weeks for making snow. Seems like Blue has been making at every opportunity, but we need some sustained cold. Camelback only blowing on their tubing hill when we had that couple days of cold 2 weeks ago, might go down as a big a blunder as calling for a Monday opening on a Friday, then blowing a huge pipe and canceling opening, either last year or the year before.

  13. Camelback Snowtubing Report - 11/24/2017 Still high from the adrenaline rush of skiing 800 feet at Blue on Black Friday, I decided to head north to Camelback to check out galactic snowtubing, and maybe at last get some use out of my Hero level Season Pass, which is losing its functionality due to lack of use. I've always wanted to experience galactic snowtubing at the largest snowtubing park in the USA, so my dream was finally going to be realized. I left Blue around 2 pm and headed up the Little Gap Road, eventually coming to Bartonsville, where I ate lunch and dinner at the same time at East Gourmet Buffet. On a pow day, it's crucial to time this meal right in order to minimize expenses and avoid the dreaded lunch leftovers. Always arrive at East Gourmet Buffet before 3:30 pm and you'll save $4.60 while still getting a decent buffet. Make sure you fill up like a boa constrictor on oysters and white rice, and eat as much as your stomach can hold, or else you'll be forced to pay $5.99 for one hot dog at The Thirsty Camel. After eating, I pulled off the Tannersville exit and could finally see the eastern side of the mountain come into view. The ski trails were pitifully bare with nary a snowflake to be seen on Cliffhanger or Nile Mile. But the snowtubing area was stockpiled with piles and piles of fresh snow that will last until April or maybe even May. I eagerly dressed into my snowtubing attire, complete with wireless bluetooth speaker to annoy all galactic tubers, and GoPro Hero+ (with retention strap) to record every precious moment, and hit the mountain. The magic carpet ride was exhilarating and much better than sitting on a dumb old ski lift. The snowtubing lanes were groomed to perfection with fresh corduroy. I got to experience decent First Trax, but the crowds ruined all the fresh powder by the third run. The line moved pretty quickly at first, but from the lofty height of the snowtubing hill, I could see the Jersey plated vehicles pouring into the parking lot. Many guidos were weary from early morning Black Friday shopping at the Outlets, but their kids were still full of energy and thoroughly excited for the galactic tubing adventures to come. By run 4, the mind numbing boredom was quickly setting in. My max speed had decreased from 15.7 mph to a paltry 15.6 mph. These speeds were downright pitiful after hitting an exhilarating 44.0 mph on Lower Main Street earlier. With each tubing run, however, the lanes became slower, and the Jersey accents were giving me a migraine. After one final, long, excruciatingly boring wait in line, I hit run 5 at 15.5 mph and decided to call it a day. Overall, galactic snowtubing was a let down after a great day of skiing at Blue Mountain. Even more disappointment set in as I realized that I'll have to wait until next Friday to try galactic snowtubing again, since season passholders are prohibited from galactic snowtubing on Saturdays or Sundays. Having spent my entire allowance on the Camelback Season Pass, and my remaining $29 on Blue, I am now out of money and will be stuck at home all weekend long while all other PASRs are enjoying skiing a genuine black diamond at Blue. While these great folks offered me their buddy passes, I will wait until more trails are open at Blue so I can experience the whole mountain in its entirety and make the tough decision in February of whether I want to finally ditch Camelback (the answer is yes).

  15. Hey All, im back from day two of the Blue mountain ski season. I arrived at the upper lodge at 7:20am made amazing time they forgot my hash brown at McDonald's but sausage biscuit was on fleek. In the house were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, PARidge, MBike Mike, Nastar Glenn, Matt Edge, Ryan, Enjorales, Enjorales Dad and many others. I got my pass straightened out and now keep pass in left arm pocket thanks to Roots advice..then no more hokey pokey in the liftline. I think I was second chair today..slacking lol snow was good lipstick on a pig on midway which got spicy and rowdy right quick. Lower Main Street was ok come around is deep and busy and vista had nice cord. Crowds were lighter than yesterday at least the first two others. Shorter ticket lines for sure as well. I think a lot of people who were out yesterday weren't out today. There was an inversion with the temperature already in the mid 30s at the top lot and in the mid 20s in the valley. Guns were blowing down low initially. It was windier than yesterday but not bad. Good parking lot beers today and good snacks with chips, pretzels and jerky. JADIP just another day in paradise. I'll be back out tomorrow. Anybody else??

  16. Saltyant if it makes you feel better there were days when Blue closed at the end of March last year and CB was open. I actually purchased a lift ticket at CB that last week in March last season because Blue was closed. I wasn't thrilled but that's how it goes. I'm sure you'll get your days in. My advice... see how it goes then decide where you want to purchase your pass in the spring. You may find that CB suits your needs. For me skiing around roller coasters and waterslides isn't necessarily my bag but to each their own.

  17. That's a sweet video..I usually don't ski the Hobacks without a stop to pee. Looks like another couple inches fell on the upper 2/3 of the resort. Rain below 7,000 feet. It's only November though and they opened with 8 of 12 lifts. Below photo is from unofficial networks from the Thunder Quad with one of the Tram towers.

  23. Sometimes the tides turn the other way. Seems like just a few years ago, we were slumming it at CB for laps off a short slow lift before Blue opened.

  24. Hey All, I'm back from day three at Blue mountain the true mountain..I arrived at the upper lot around 720am and it was in the upper 30s and windy. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Shadows, Matt Edge, Gary, TP4, Indiggio, Slim, Justo, GSSucks, -Dan, Root and many others. The snow today was different than it was Friday and Saturday. Friday was cookies, boilerplate and chalk, Saturday was a mish mash of everything and today was a mid between mad sweet and low and mad apple sauce. The top of Coke around was a mini mogul field..midway you needed to be paying attention still pretty conjested but no real lift lines. Lower Main Street was better than average and easy out and vista were also good. I skied either 11 or 12 runs between 8am and 10am..spent an hour in the lot drinking beer and playing a frisbee game then went to the BMDI with shadows and Atomic Jeff, two omelettes, corned beef hash and eggs, order of bacon, OJ and two coffees was $27'total..was nice being back at the BMDI..great coffee service on demand..got topped off twice. All in all a nice three days of November skiing..hats off to the staff for pulling off a Root Friday opening..especially the snowmakers. See everybody next weekend. I haven't even checked out the weather yet but if it stays below 60 they'll be able to make it but let's hope it gets cold soon.

  27. They aren't completely grass? That's a first. Yes I forgot all of that high alpine rocky tundra can often make it difficult to retain man made snow unlike those other, less fortunate lower elevation, crappy mountains. Should I bring an oxygen mask next time I'm there?

  32. I don't even trust blue mountain to reload my pass from previous seasons, I just get a new one in person the 1st day out. I certainly wouldn't trust their ticketing system to use the appropriate pass

  33. Great opening day. Had the same ticketing issue that Doug did. Apparently there's a 40th anniversary commemorative pass that will be available shortly though which is classy. Conditions were nice Speaking of 40 years... The hoodie doesn't lie...
