Hey All, I'm back from day 4 of the Blue mountain the true mountain ski season. I arrived at the upper lot around 7:20AM and the temperature was around 30 degrees under partly sunny sky's with light winds. In the house today we're Atomic Jeff, Slim, JFBBDan, Tarponhead, Indiggio, Guitar73, TinyMoose, a few ski divas, West Chester guys, Nastar Glenn, Tele Matt, MBike Mike, GahSkier George and many others. First civilian chair and second one down..early on easy out and vista was nice smooth sugary cord, similar conditions on come around, midway was lipstick on a pig first run..cookie push piles rest of the time could have gotten better with warmer temps this afternoon and lower Main Street was not bad as it had been blown on. Guns were blazing in the valley and on lazy mile and one gun going at the end of upper Main Street. Crowds on the trails were pretty heavy but no real lifelines this is the weekend everybody is buying Xmas trees and there often isn't even skiing yet the first weekend in December so I'm calling this a bonus weekend. I quit a little after 10 after two solid hours then had some beers and chips in the parking lot and by the time I left a little after 12 the temperature was in the mid 40s. Props to blues snowmakers looks like they'll really be able to get busy beginning Wednesday night. JADIP3 points

Sounds like a typical first weekend of december. I've been sampling the local libations in new orleans. Also lump crab beignets are delicious. See you next weekend!2 points

I'm getting a kick out of the front-end loader moving snow around? Guess they don't want to run the cats over all that snow!2 points

To quote you... . "I might end up at Blue. Getting annoyed with CB. First no First Trax, and now no preferred parking despite that their website clearly says "Preferred parking on Saturday & Sunday is also available Free to the first 20 Super Pass holders." WTF? " Camelback has allocated a significant number of preferred parking spots for a nominal fee of $20.00 on weekends and holidays. " My definition of "nominal" is way different. There are other similar posts but I don't feel like looking1 point

Skied 920 to a little after noon, getting 16 runs in - almost all with Saltyants, who recognized me on my way to the lift. Nice guy and I enjoyed our runs and lift rides. Awesome morning. Free hot cocoa and cookies at the lift whenever I wanted it. Skied right on to the high speed lift all AM without a single delay. Nice blue top to bottom run with no crowds. Good surface, covered at least 90% of trail width. Only bit that was a bit slick was fairly flat. At $25 all in all the best opening day of the 3 PA ones I have attended this year. Blue (2nd place) got extra credit for pulling it off 8 days earlier, but lost serious points for that close to 30 min lift stoppage that got me to call it a day after 9 runs. Shawnee comes in 3rd with only a green open and less trail width - But every PA area that plays the "open by Dec 2" game is a winner in my book.1 point

Lower Main was firm, midway was shit, and Easy Out / Vista was great. Short session as I had to run a quick 13 before afternoon obligations. Beautiful morning to be out on the snow, especially considering it's December 2nd. See you tomorrow.1 point

Oh boy! It looks like the Ice planet Hoth from Empire Strikes Back. Maybe they should change the name from Camelback Ski Resort to "TonTon mountain" ski resort.1 point

I was just coming here to post the same screenshot. What a shit show it's going to be with everyone having to funnel in there to that lift. Tough to gauge how wide it is from this angle, but it can't be that wide. I almost want to go up there to watch it. Might be more entertaining than actually skiing at Blue. I would actually consider going up there, taking a run, watching the show and then heading to Blue after exercising the "WTF were you thinking opening today" guarantee to get a cheaper ticket for later in the season. But with the limited terrain open at Blue don't want to miss good runs there before the conditions turn.1 point

Never underestimate Camelback's ability or willingness to intentionally obfuscate the details of a situation when ambiguity of said details is financially adventageous to Camelback..1 point

I think midway at Blue is harder than Cliffhanger at Cameltoe..the chute for sure..it's so narrow and steep you need hop turns to get down it..1 point
