It's pretty ridiculous to get angry about 15 minute lifelines on December 10th in the Poconos. Any mountain with any open terrain worth skiing would have the same lines. Camelback doesn't have any lines because they don't have anything open to draw in skiers. And anyone who thinks that skiing that shit Camelback had the nerve to open with is better than hitting the terrain Blue has open just because you can ski onto the lift vs waiting in a 15 minute line is operating with a diminished mental capacity and I seriously wonder how they could get through their everyday life.5 points

Hey All, I'm back from a fun Sunday morning session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the upper lot around 7:25am and in the house were Toast, AtomicJeff, JFBB Dan, TP4, Guitar, SaltyAnt, Matt Edge, Root, Indiggio, MBike Mike, Mrs. Snowbunski, Nastar Glenn and many many many many more. Yesterdays predicted 1-3" turned out to be 6+ inches of snow across the region which brought out all the Tom Dick and Harry's. Conditions were very nice right out the gate and the only true hardpack was upper Main Street which debuted for the season today. Easy out, vista, come around, midway and Main Street were all nice midwinter conditions..the top of lazy mile was great bottom a little bit narrow still good just have to be careful passing people. Liftlines went from zero to 100 real quick. Most waits were like 5-12 minutes after about 8:45am was impossible to keep both lifts at full capacity with just two scanners but I had some nice runs am not complaining but I know people who got there after like 930-10 were only getting about 2.5 runs an hour which is rare but happens with a early snowfall with limited capacity I quit around 10am and even did the vista once for stoke and got some untracked..fun parking lot session and good people watching today..temperatures began around 20 and rose through the 20s into the low 30s with moderate wins and partly sunny sky's. 6-pack and lower lodge and lot along with tubing will be on tap for next weekend along with 7 days a week operation..high five for stoke pass it down.2 points

Both are real into it. One is advancing a bit faster and she was the one with me today for a "daddy daughter day", as it was the other one's turn for a "girls day out" shopping and dining fest with grandma. About 4 times a year we split them up for some 1:1 time and today was such a day.2 points

i had a late start to the day, so we go on snow just after 9 am. watched as jfbbskidan, gss, atomicskier, et al. blazing past. atomicjeff was kind enough to give me the heads up on the lift line status. the skiing was awesome today and lazy was in fine shape for its season debut. even the fresh natural stuff on the sides was nice to play in for a few turns. those death-marbles on upper main street needed working on by the groomers, again. the racer kids were out in full force, making us all depressed by how they kill it down the slopes. the lift lines were brutal...but before long staffers were handing out warm chocolate chip cookies and lip balm. why lip balm, i dunno.....doesn't go well with cookies, imho. we called it a day at noon, after 20-25 minute lift lines was reached. good times had by all.1 point

Was particularly cool at CB to note that my 10 year old daughter was skiing better than at least half the people out there today. Just zipping swiftly and stylishly around all the out of control fools, both the ones who were on their board/skis and the ones struggling to get back up.1 point

Wow just wow enchiladas was just jealous he didn't get to ski the pow pow.1 point

Yeah you get flamed around here for anything other than mad devotion to Blue. Fortunately online flames do not burn and it remains a good place to hang out to talk skiing and pick up tidbits of info about the PA resorts and weather.1 point

Jeez. They do say that lines were up to 1 hour today. And send bright rays of hate to those BM racers. I'm sure SP holders would get their share if VIP lines were open. My best memories of BM are those of late spring skiing (think about St. Patrick's day) and Sunday nights when upper lodge goes from full house to suddenly half empty, and you alternate between skiing moon-lit terrain and warming up. Not in the bar section, but in the hall that overlooks the slope. Often that hall is closed for special events. You do need slalom skis for all the ice at night. Let's see if the new groomer is gonna change that. The worst memory was the weekend when I ran into ticket line snaking around the sidewalk and the night when some boarder ran into my skis, undid the bindings, and the ski flew into the darkness of the forest. Spent literally an hour looking for it. It managed to get under a log between two boulders.1 point

Dial it back a little. What CB has opened is far from being shit, and you're no judge for others' mental capacity here.1 point

Your skiing today wasn't as good as yesterday at Camelback..wow just wow..I know you got less runs but had to be better runs. I can understand how free food and getting to hang with juicebags on opening day at Camelback was your best. Maybe come up with some sort of rating system to keep things objective.1 point

saltyant, it shouldn't be a big surprise for you by now. You would 100% win with BM if you skied weekdays, early mornings, nights or off-peak times. For weekend skiing you chose right where to get your season pass, for you'll always find some empty lifts on CB, like you'll always be in the crowds on Blue.1 point

Sounds like an excuse. Skiing was good this morning. The 2nd run down Midway was perfect. Grippy snow, no people, could really be aggressive. The crowds were insane, though. See everyone in the lower lot next weekend.1 point

Nothing unfortunate about anything. Ski the edges, avoid a boulder or two, wait on line. Laugh with friends. Repeat.1 point

Good idea. My plan for tomorrow is take the vista chair fist, then hit lazy mile a few times, and then both main streets. I'll get out of the way so all you experts can tackle the fresh stuff on Midway at rope drop.1 point

Conditions were better than Sunday. I don't know about everyone else but I'm ready to ride the six pack. Too many people (aka BM Raceteam) clogging up Midway. Still a fun morning BTW It's snowing pretty good out here1 point

No doubt. Will not be boring for me tomorrow as I will be skiing with my daughter which is its own reward, and it will be her first time for the season doing something other than Shawnee.1 point

Why I have been hesitant to go. Really don't want to get run over. Why aren't these people Christmas shopping and going to parties? Thought about tomorrow morning, if we get predicted snow will probably be even more crowded.1 point
