I skied from 9 to 5 Friday; the snow was perfectly timed: it improved conditions just as they were beginning to deteriorate in places. Lower Main was nice and chalky early on, then as the chalk got scraped off it was a little sketchy in patches. Even though it wasn't a huge accumulation, it provided a nice top layer. The last left turn on Lazy had like a ten-yard patch of sheer ice to contend with; the snow actually didn't help that at all, but it was fine as there's not much pitch there so you could just slide it out. Crowds were thin all day, and downright sparse by about 3-5. I never waited on a line and alternated between the double and the six, because it really didn't make much difference as far as terrain access. and the double lets you ski the very top of MS, which was in awesome condition (all of MS was sweet all day except the bottom part getting a little scrapey). A well-timed personal day from work. Enjoy the weekend.5 points

Hey All, I'm back from a fun Saturday at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot around 728AM and JFDan was already there and also in the house were Atomic Jeff, Toast, Johnny Law, Nastar Glenn, Ryan, Justo, GSSucks, Enjorales, Enjorales dad, Ty, Indiggio, Rodney, MBike Mike, Mrs. Snowbunski and many more. Temperatures were around ten degrees to start and rose through the teens. First run was challenge..I easystyled it as it was solid..and cookes but double diamond terrain what what. Main Street was the run of the day at least early on. Was nice cord on the top half and chalky on the low half. There was a fog layer around lower terrain run which made things spicy. Paradise is open as well and will get good in a day or two but the typical first day roughness. Lazy mile has good snow and is crazy mile with the race team doing their snakes..the falls got steeper over the summer and Burma got longer I kid I kid but Burma and back was fun and then I skied a lot more Main Street runs and finished out on lazy to the falls to the men's room to the parking lot to dank beers..and tomorrow will be more of the same and conditions should even be better and will be a little warmer.3 points

Thanks everyone for the kind words today was super dope, one of my best ski days ever. Injuries are never fun and not skiing sucks hairy donkey dick. I never doubted I'd ski this year but not drinking at 1030am and hanging out with you losers adds some extra suck. Snow today was excellent and paradise/challenge were a sweet bonus. It's most excellent to be back.3 points

Hey All, I'm back from a fun Saturday at Camelback mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lot around 728AM and also in the house were many others. I woke up around 606AM, and as I made my way eastward on I-80, I experienced a legit defcon level one crisis. I realized I would not make FirstTrax(tm)(c)(r) on time, and would miss out on all that fresh cord. Unfortunately, I had miscalculated my wake-up time and ended up a whopping 8 minutes late for FirstTrax. The saving grace, however, was that fellow elites (Camelback season passholders) were kind enough to save some fresh cord for old saltyant, so I didn't miss out entirely. But it was still a truly devastating blow. The walk from car to lift was also agonizingly long and brutal after being spoiled from Blue's short walking distance. Early morning skiing conditions were top notch. They remembered to groom all 6 trails. The snow wasn't exactly the fluffy powder that I was expecting, but it was nice to finally ski on packed powder. I decided to see how fast I could go after blazing down Blue's trails on Wednesday evening with actual slalom skiers. I broke my personal record on Marjie's and hit 49.9 mph. Wow! I'm not sure I can break the 50 mph barrier, but I came damn close to my lifetime goal with that run. I also tried speeding in the slow zone on Meadows to see if I would get a ticket from the cops, like everyone claimed I would. Despite several lightning fast runs down Tuts and into Meadows, I did not get pulled over even once, therefore concluding that this claim is definitely an old wives tale and urban legend. As the day progressed, the crowd grew but never got overwhelmingly large. The lift line was almost always a short wait, and I figured out how to maximize run efficiency by going in the singles line on the far left of the queue area. However, every single trail turned to a sheet of ice by late afternoon, especially Marjie's. My poor Elon skis just could not get any traction, and I ended up skidding down Marjie's most of the day. I also got to ski some glades (between 2 trees) and literally became an expert skier. I decided to call it a day around 327PM after a prolonged lift stop because the lift got tired and needed to nap for about 15 minutes. I made a total of 47 runs today and 26,687 feet of vertical descent. The weekend ahead looks truly promising. Rumors were circulating all day long that they might get another trail open next week. A worker told me that the water supply for snowmaking is dwindling, so once they find some water they will be able to get another trail open. This wonderful news amplified stoke levels across the mountain by over 9000. I will likely head back to Camelback tomorrow morning to hit some more FirstTrax early on before conditions get slick again.2 points

Just rolled home, bugged out around 1:30pm or so. Poor Ty got coerced into seeding Barney's after all the other grooming they had to do. Mad props to him and the groomers! First runs down Barney's were spectacular with the fresh snow being pushed into bumps. Unfortunately it didn't take long for that to be scraped off down to the hard pack. The inside line beside the bumps had nice, scraped snow which made for some good half-bump skiing. The edges of Main Street and the sides of Lazy had the best snow overall and it was tough leaving them, but the thighs are on fire after doing a bunch of t2b Barney's runs and then doing both sides of Main street. Challenge is gonna need more snow and lots of grooming to grind up those marbles! I thought first runs down Paradise were pretty good, but there were a few ruts that you had to watch out for.2 points

That's the only way I ski it. Same with the sharp turns on burma. Wednesday night one run there were a few snowboarder picnicking a.20'feet after that turn.1 point

3" fresh light fluffy stuff, 12* and sunny with no wind. Changed our routine and were on mtn at 8:45. Fresh powder on top of groomed cord. Just perfect (looked like the pics of Blue this morning), no crowds or lift lines as usual. We were the only patrons in lodge when booting up at 8:30. Skied the mtn, same 9 trails open today with snowmaking on Slalom and the West side of mtn. Groomers working on lower Tunk, the snow bowl, and around the quad lift. Back to cabin for breakfast, a shower, and change into drinking attire. 😀 Life is good..... Sorry to much fun for images.1 point

Helmet is fine I've never even fallen on my head yet and pants are just getting frayed on holy near the bottom. Atomic Jeff and Root are like the fashion police. I've had these pants for maybe 8-9 years so far and another pair that were exactly the same I got like 12 years ago. I don't buy much. I currently have two pairs of shoes but am getting new sneakers this week..rack it.1 point

I don't know if there are any college students on PASR but the first two weeks in January college students with a valid ID can buy 8 hour lift tickets on weekdays for $30 and Blue has also substantially lowered their lift ticket prices and are charging youth pricing for all and offer a $5 discount on passes bought online. Good stuff.1 point

I only go back skiing after drinking a few days a season. Usually I ski, drink beer and go home..usually 2-3 beers..4 is my absolute limit unless it's gaper day, it's sunny or Root is there.1 point

Oh, I wasn't talking about skills at all. I haven't seen you and have no idea how you ski (however some stories about poles and exhausting yourself on Upper Marc Anthony do come to mind). I was talking about time you were doing this.1 point

I mainly ski so I can drink beers in the lot and write a report afterwards1 point

I can't quite place you in the ski world. Sometimes you talk like a beginner, and now suddenly there are annual Vermont trips in the picture.1 point

Easily $2,000 for you but if you weren't spending it on skiing you'd probably spend it on hookers and blow I know I would.1 point

A couple of thousands?? What can you possibly spend so much on, if even new skis you're going to buy only in April and only deeply discounted. Do they do lap dances in that valley lodge? Is that why the upper one is for wankers?1 point

Please. I've driven over 2.5 hours to get to Blue on some days. Leave earlier next time.1 point

Before PASR, I was a top lot-er. It's not just park and ski though is it? It's park, boot up, walk up flight of stairs, through heated lodged filled with gapers and clueless, Then ski. From the bottom lot, it's just quick short walk to the lift. There's been countless days when I've called it a day and gone out to the lot for beers, only to go back out for a few more runs. I'd never do that parked up top. If you want to change skis, or want to get another layer, you can catch back up with the group and only miss 1 run.1 point
