  5. I'm a moment fan boy so grain of salt but all their skis are awesome, PB&J can do anything, super fun stiffer bacons, bibby pro the playful charger blister loves and my favorite the belafonte, a stiff high speed big arc ski that is super confident at speed but an approachable legit charging ski. You'll like the bibby pro that's a super ski. Nordica Enforcer on super roids, uniform stiff flex, the 96 version is one of the straightest skis on the market at plus 25m radius sub 100m waist. At speed its a big arc machine, very fast very big, tougher to skid and pivot so not the best bump ski but flat tail so it's going to put you back up if you get too in the back seat. No metal though and light so any kind of chop, refrozen unevenness your going to feel it but for a hybrid its got racing ski like pedigree on groomers which is most impressive when it can also handle a foot of fresh decently. I got half 27.5 half 28.5 and two pairs of skis where the right binding is 27.5 and the left is 28.5, at some point I'm going to go to step in and the binding is going to be a whole size off. I'll just wingtip it like indiggio lol

  7. I'm back from another fun day at Blue the true mountain. Arrived in the lower lot around 8:15am and a 34' temperature under mostly cloudy skies. It was spritzing most of the ride up, but nothing worth putting on the wipers. Nobody else was in the house as of yet, but waved to Rodney as he turned the corner. First run down Paradise was super-fast snow, due to the temps being just low enough for the snow to set up. The place was virtually empty at this point and we had the run to ourselves. Next run was down Lazy, which was also fast, but noticed a number of skid marks appearing at various points along the trail. Went over Falls, but the lip just isn't there to catch any air. Went over to Main Street to check out the bumps which were left as-is from yesterday. Made the rest of the run down the other side, which was super-fast and very smooth. Made a run down Challenge which was more of the same, soft and fast. There were some grooming ruts that had to be avoided on the second half, but overall was very smooth. Even running Challenge fast, the Falls lip just isn't there and with a slight Northwest wind, I still couldn't get any air. Tarponhead arrived and we repeated the above a few times as the cloud cover kept temps lower than expected. We broke for some lunch around 12ish and shortly thereafter the sun started coming out and temps began to rise, so we made our way over to the bumps. By this time, the bumps softened up enough to make them quite enjoyable and we lapped them a number of times. Unfortunately the sun sets pretty quick and both lines disappear into the shade within a run, so we finished with a couple more laps and beers in the lot. Just another overall great day of skiing at Blue.

  10. GFS fantasy stuff for Christmas. Maybe a Christmas miracle. This would be better than the equivalent of rain, even if everybody is closed on Christmas day. Whether or not this happens, at least it shows signs of going back to really cold temps.

  14. Corbetts is almost always closed and when it's open it's some of the worst snow on the mountain. I don't want to get injured. Every trip to Jackson hole that I end not injured is an accomplishment to me.

  15. So my first stop on the MAX pass this year was Killington & Pico this past weekend. Saturday morning was decent with 1-2" overnight softening everything up, and Sunday was bluebird AND COLD!! I drove up Friday night, slept in my car both nights. Saturday night I was pushing the limits of a 0 down bag with it being -3 out. Have to say if anyone is looking for a good sleeping bag for cold weather I would recommend the Marmot Never Summer bag. Added a blanket around my feet and slept like a baby! Decent coverage at Killington for earlier season with 80+ trails open already!

  16. I don't know for sure whether Blue mountain is a true mountain, and have doubts that Camelback really ran out water so soon in the season, but I'm convinced that JF is a happy mountain, for where else can you find Happyland? On the serious note, what does a skier need to be happy? Decent snow, empty slopes, comfy lodge, lack of lines, maybe some atmosphere for the right mood... And JF delivers on all fronts! Their snow is always groomed the best, you hardly ever find ice (except perhaps on the eastern part), their crowds are the thinnest even on the peak days, and atmosphere is invariably relaxed, cozy, even on the lifts, which *are* slow. It's just so xmassy to flow among the snow-covered tree-tops, observing a windy river far at the bottom. To me JF is a unique mountain, almost a boutique. That's partly why I can never settle on a single SP from CB or BM - it will just kill the joy of visiting other places that may be as good as this one. So while some take endless pride in conquering challenges of true terrain and celebrating another mile of verticals with IPA, some die of boredom chained to a hump by a SP, less ambitious and more liberal ones just take it all. Winter, slopes, ambience. Today was perfect. Lodge 70% empty. Ideal snow. Reasonable temperatures. Lots of trails. Lots of glades. Tons of funs. Even JF racing team was an inspiration to look at while they zigzagged down the Challenge, compared to some other ones, begging for torches as they were cutting lines on the busiest day of the season. I still have so many JF tickets left from CM, yay!

  20. We must be on the same schedule cause a Friday is when I will be back also. Indiggio and I saw (then got passed by her) and then rode up with a rippin college girl (no poles) who was pissed because she could not break 60 mph on the soft snow. She’d just carve and accelerate. Freakin great day. Day 2 on the bumps and my legs feel it

  30. That Corbets run looks easy. All you need is a GoPro to make a video like that and I already have one. Plus I can get down Marjies and even Cliffhanger now, which is a double black diamond, and that's basically the same thing.
