Came across this article other day. “You don’t wait for a good day to go skiing. You make the best day possible out of it. There’s a ‘roll up your sleeves and get it done attitude’ in general.” —Jason Levinthal https://www.powder.com/stories/wicked-pissah/a-skier-goes-east/?utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_content=5a39e04c04d3013907847421&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook And one for Salty, almost what GSS said. "That’s a big reason many of us love it—it asks something of you, pushes you out of your comfort zone, and makes you feel accomplished when you succeed."4 points

I'm a huge fan of Dollar General. When i split a brake line and needed brake fluid, the Dollar General had it, where as the gas station i was fixing my car at did not. I stop at the one just outside my development each time i go to the Poconos. Prices are good, they carry name brand stuff as well as their own cheapy brand. They carry the Kettle chips we all have grown to love on the weekends. They are making a killing. I find other dollar stores to be completely disgusting.2 points

The only piece of advice you should listen to is TEST DRIVE THE SKI BEFORE YOU BUY IT. Pay $60 at BM on a weekday like today and drive them all into the ground. I'll give you an example of why... I ski Atomic Redster SL skis. They hold the edge amazingly well, I haven't seen yet anything better than that. And my friend has recently bought Fischer RC4 SL. Those are also slalom skis, same length as mine (won't tell you the exact number, or many here will have a heart attack), and those are very highly rated. And today they just didn't perform. At all. We both swapped a few times, I sharpened them before the trip, then we gave them a tune again at the store, and nothing, really nothing helped. They're just much more difficult to drive in hard and icy conditions like today, they tend to go sideways all the time, and as a result you can't trust them. So here, two very respectable skis in the same SL category, same length, same TR, same waist, and one is amazing, and the other one underperforms.1 point

Yeah skis aren't like buying a pair of pants at Kohls and realizing they're a little snug and returning them. They aren't refundable unless there's a defect and then you have to ship them to the manufacturer which is probably in Tahiti or china or Idaho or somewhere exotic1 point

Don't fret, we'll carry you down like a fallen soldier. Hell, I may come again just to salute the effort. One more time before the rain and crowds settle in.1 point

I did, I came up to Blue solo on a Saturday my dad had to work, and then after he got off at noon we headed over to Bear because Blue was closing at 3 due to rain in the forecast that didn't show up until like 8 pm1 point
-
I usually like one day each year at Bear. It's tough to pick a day when conditions are good because of having the Blue pass and it being 15 minutes closer, but so far in my young ski career I enjoy skiing a day there each season.1 point

If your poles have wrist straps, turn one upside down and put the basket end of each through the opposite pole strap. Slip the strap loops over the tips and tails of the skis respectively. Carry by the poles with the skis hanging in the straps down below.1 point

At my home mountain, [ski resort name redacted due to incorrect thread], there is a serious deer problem. When I was bombing Marjie's the other day, I was somewhat concerned that one would run across the bottom of the piste and I would be toast. Fortunately I made it out unscathed.1 point

They remounted my bindings in like 2 hours on a saturday. Was great1 point

They could do it in hours, even on a busy day. I just drop off at end of day and ask to pick up in AM the next day. Never had a problem.1 point

i took a criminal justice class in college and the professor was the actual head of the NYPD's legal department. their justificaition (as he told us) is that the undercovers place the wallet near a cop, token booth, etc and watch the person who picked up the wallet. if they walk by the token booth or cop without stopping and giving them the wallet, they wait til the person leaves the station. while this is going on, they radio up to the uniformed cops on the street who make the arrest when the person comes up the stairs. their justification is that they give the people an opportunity to turn the wallet into a cop, token booth clerk, etc. if that person leaves the station with the wallet, they assume they are stealing it.1 point

the crazy thing is in the article, the cops are actually bragging about arresting people and throwing them in jail, despite those people having no idea they were doing anything wrong. pretty much a perfect representation of police officers in America1 point

Bahahahaha that was hilarious. I'm surprised you didn't put that away in your wallet. I lost my key card to my hotel room once and got a new one at the front desk and the next day I came to work and it was on the grass by my car..I was shake shake shaking my Herman.1 point

Park next to snowdon quad. 100” walk to lift. Does not get easier then that. From snowdon pod can access NRT and get summit access.1 point

Tomorrow night should be fine. You don't ski mashed potatoes, icy conditions or in the rain. Wow just wow. Remember we're in PA the conditions are often less than ideal.1 point

Say hi to Robert2 for me. I am strongly considering finally purchasing Volkl RTMs this weekend - probably Saturday since it's going to rain non-stop and it will be a boring day.1 point

They groom some of the trails in Jackson hole but you have to get out of your comfort zone and ski some bumps, trees and ungroomed terrain otherwise our guide in Chamonix will banish you to the bunny slope.1 point
