Annual Whiteface trip with family 1st week of January. Western trip is taking my boys out to Big sky this year. Only four ski days but that’s ok (major bank flying 3 to Bozeman) Otherwise just going to TP4s favorite Vt ski mountain (got madcard) and hopefully another trip chasin storm to northern Vt. Indiggio keeps talking about going to JH for a mini trip when you and Jeff are out there to shows us around. I don’t ski fast so don’t know how long I would keep up [emoji38]3 points

Uh NO! A binding is not just a binding. You definitely get what you pay for. Stay away from low-end, cheapo bindings.2 points

It truly is a zen-like experience, with a beer or two and some tunes on, meticulously putting and edge on while the iron heats up, dripping on the new wax, ironing it into the base to perfection, scraping and brushing to completion. One of the few things that keeps my ADD in check for at least one ski at a time. Merry Christmas to all!2 points

I saw a whole crew vigorously shoveling the 3/4" of slop outside the upper lodge on the webcam at around 5:45am. If the six pack isn't up and running it's gonna be a holiday week from hell. I really hope they don't need a part from Slovenia 🇸🇮1 point

Moment Bibby's, yes drilling. They most likely used a Look jig to properly mount them (no guessing, searching for a pattern, etc.), set the DINs to his specs and test the release. All in a couple of hours, while we were out skiing. $72 for a couple of hours time, seems to make sense to me. If you mount them yourself, you've got nobody else to blame but yourself! It probably would have taken that much time just to find the drill pattern. Paying a reputable shop to mount bindings properly is definitely worth it IMHO. YMMV.1 point

Buy them now. No reason to dilly dilly any longer. You loved 'em, Root found you a great price, just do it. Your biggest problem is going to be finding a fake ID to get into the beer store to buy Root his thank you sixer.1 point

I expect he will. Once he gets the skis and falls in love with them. The reason for waxing is both to move faster in wet snow and to protect the bases from dirt and abrasion in hard and cold conditions. Plus it's a crime not to wax sintered bases.1 point

For my skiing, I don’t see where they add much benefit. I had them on my Crossfire’s and Hot Rod Jet Fuel’s. Easier to replace breaks brakes when they brake break. My Mantras (bought used) came with PX’s so I put those on my Bacons. I decided to step up my game and go with Pivots for my new Head Monsters.1 point

Unfair! I would never defend Camelback. I'd much rather read and be part of an active forum than a stagnant one, even if the active one comes with a lot of noise. It's basic operant conditioning: people come back for new content. Enough visits with no new content and people stop visiting, or else there are like four people who ever post and it becomes an echo chamber. Plus you're right, I DO enjoy tuning my skis and working on my bikes and I don't suck at it. You wish you had my skillz.1 point

Well we had a snowboarder with us the one year and my Montana friend Tom is slow as fuck he doesn't really know how to ski hardpack or groomers just chop and pow pow. Big sky is cool..they're off to a good start..there's a good thread on the Teton gravity research forums that is devoted to southwest Montana. Indiggio should go to Jackson hole..if I paused for a split second he'd fly past me..I could see Indiggio catching major air off some of the cat tracks...he'd fly higher than a kite on crazy glue.1 point

I've smoked with my dad a few times and my mom once..they know it's pretty benign and not as harmful as tobacco or alcohol. Most born before 1946 or so are anti weed..they were already full on grown ups when the hippie times happened so they didn't get into weed but did enjoy wearing leisure suits, having fat mulletchops and doing the hustle.1 point

I don’t really like intergrated binders and won’t be buying any skis that use them anytime soon. That being said, I’d mount intergrated binders, super easy.1 point

When you went in for lunch did you lock up your RTMs or use ski check? Another thing you might want to do is bring some pocket meat..just put some meat in your pocket or cheese and crackers..granola bar or whatever. If you're thirsty can eat snow.1 point

Bibby’s at 118. I dropped them off to get mounted shortly after 8 this AM. They were done by 11ish. Same day mounts is pretty legit in my book. Took them out to make sure no issues with mount ( used my sons boot since we are the same size). If I get to roll with them a time or 3 I be happy. My official storm chasin ski1 point

Well, the year's coming to an end, so I have to get the final dings in. I'm also drinking Arrogant Bastard at the moment. Also, while we were waiting for the quad to get going, George calls Blue to ask them if the shuttle is running. They told him "No, it won't start running for a few hours, why?" George tells them, "Well, both valley lifts are down right now", to which the Blue person replied "Really?"1 point

Fuck that noise. I just saved him like $300, he should bring me a six-pack of coffee stout.1 point

Salty, if you don't know what the turning radius of a ski is, you should. Also, how bad are you boots? Boots are far more important than skis.1 point

I know the owner of PASR..if you ever getting banned I'll just harass him until you're unbanned and if that doesn't work I'll put his phone number on a men seeking men ad on Craigslist.1 point

100% my fault; I've been working online all day and playing around here for recreation in between bouts of grading. So, Blue was good yesterday and I met some PASRs and they were nice and it was fun.1 point
