  1. And if you haven't seen this paper yet, here's something about the mountain you're in love with.

  2. Hey All, I'm back from a fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. The temperature was in the high single digits and low teens today with a brisk northwest wind. In the house were Shadows, Atomic Jeff, Toast, Indiggio, JFBB Dan, MBIKE mike, NMSki, Nastar Glenn, Slim, Enjorales, Enjorales dad, Gah Skier George and many others. First civilian six pack again..Razors was sa weet had a nice run on it before the race team took it over. Then challenge which was $$$$, nightmare to dreamweaver was sweet as was sidewinder. With the front face skied it was off to switchback which was good and no people on the so could ski it in about three and a half turns. I tried lazy mile one along with the glades to the right which were playful and spicy ๐ŸŒถ. Skied some bumps as well which were scratchy. During the entire morning there there were no liftlines and I don't expect much crowd this afternoon. In the lot JFDan had his heater going and enjorales grilled up sausage, sliders and Steak and it was mad steezy yo!!! Super good. Another day of good conditions at Blue mountain the true mountain capping off a December to remember where we received 5 snowfalls and some of the best snowmaking conditions imaginable. JADIP. See everybody at opening bell tomorrow

  4. Two different jackets at two different mountains should count as two days. Jeff, add a jacket manager pronto.

  5. I haven't been skiing all my life. Started around 14 years ago. When I first started skiing I didn't like Blue. Snowmaking and grooming has really improved. Now it's my favorite place in Pa.

  8. So here was my technique for advancing kids on steeps. They started out real tentative, mostly going from one side of the trail to the other and only deacending a little each time. Then I explained to them that since there was a flat after each steep, once they got part way down the steep they could "let it rip" straight down and slow themselves on the flat. They started on each steep asking me when they could "let it rip" and proceeding down with complete confidence once I told them it was ok. As the next step, I suggested they use their own judgement as to when it was OK to "let it rip" and they started doing that. Then I explained they could "let it rip" from higher up on the steep if, instead of just going straight down, they switch their weight from ski to ski while going straight down. So they could make small esses, but not the trail wide traverses they had been doing before. And soon they were doing it on a double black. Pretty good progress for two 10 year olds on one cold day.

  16. The air temp was -16 when I left White River Junction this morning. My jerk cat screamed the entire 7 hour trip and the road conditions were so sketchy north of Brattleboro that everyone was driving 40 and I that was fine. So now that I'm back in the balmy south, I hope to run into some PASRs tomorrow. Very psyched to start the new year skiing a fully-open Blue! I'll prolly be in a big purple jacket and black pants. Atomic Vantage 90cti skis.

  18. I never knew this! I always stay at the back of the group I'm with as I know the twin-tips kick up a giant rooster-tail of snow, ice, marbles, etc. which tends to annoy the hell out of people behind me. However, it does come in handy to keep others from following too closely behind.

  19. At least they got the liftlines sorted out yesterday, as they had separate lines in the quad and 6 for the various groups (singles, doubles, VIP, etc.). Hardly had a wait at all despite the crowds being at/beyond the ticket readers. Now only if some of the good attendants would train the not so good ones to leave the staging area mostly empty, they'd have a smooth system and I wouldn't need to ask for a refund. Excellent day at Blue, excellent conditions, tons of fun to be had on all the runs.

  21. I should add that I prefer Android devices. Just ones with decent hardware. Salty get rid of your jitterbug phone and go to Amazon / unlocked phones. You can get nice deals on decent phones (Moto G, Honor, Nokia etc.) that are unlocked.

  22. 2009 VW Jetta SportWagen. It's been a good car, but I didn't buy it with winter driving in mind. My next vehicle will be a Subaru.

  28. Doing a 2nd Montage day, since our hotel was 3 miles away and we woke to see at least 2" of fresh had landed last night (and is still coming down) on top of the nice surface from yesterday. Bomus that virtually nobody is tracking it up. Long Haul is running and serving the least tracked up run. Conditions are so nice I may take my girls on one of the double blacks (Smoke) today, which would be a first for them.

  29. Like being tackled by a bullet train. Would like to be able to take kids on a green trail without us having to outrun sledding tacklers gunning straight down a hill with no turns or control.

  30. We have a pecking order at Blue. On NWDM, JohnnyLaw and I go first. On Switchback, GSS and JohnnyLaw go first. No passing allowed except when RidgeRacer is out of control and passes dangerously close.

  31. That's false..Atomic Jeff and toast ski faster than me on certain runs and indiggio and Ryan have passed me many times

  33. So I thought I'd update on the sleeping adventures in the north east. I've now tested the Marmot Never Summer bag at -10. I had to add a blanket over top. I was only wearing a thin long sleeve shirt and pants. This weekend I'm looking to head up to upstate NY and or possibly ME. I'm switching over to the Marmot CWM as the temps this weekend will be between -20 & -30 at night. The bag has a -40 degree rating with 800+ fill down. This baby packs some serious heat!! I can't tell you how awesome Marmot bags are. Great quality and will keep you warm! I changed my spark plugs and battery LOL. I have to say it is brutal outside in these temps. GoPro batteries last 1 run before shutting off. I carry 5 batteries and I got a total of 5 runs before all batteries were shot.

  34. Ok NEPA not Poconos, I know. Have a Chase card deal that actually got me the hotel for $74 of "ultimate rewards points", awesome deal including Breakfast buffet for 3 10 min from Mtn. At that price well worth not doing another rt drive.
