  1. Is this year 2 of your skiing? Don't just take a lesson, take a LOT of lessons. If you don't you'll cement bad habits that will hold you back when you want to ski bumps or trees, or hit warp speed at Blue with the PASRs. I worked my arse off last year, skiing whenever I could no matter the conditions. I took lessons, I did drills, nice people gave me advice, friends videoed me skiing so I could see ALL of my shortcomings, and I took more lessons. I'm nowhere near where I want to be, but I'm way closer than I was last year and I have SO much more fun. When I carve a beautiful turn I say a little mental "F YEAH!!" To each his own and whatnot, but sking well a joy in itself. If you settle for just getting down stuff with minimal competence you'll miss out on a deep well of fun and satsfaction.

  2. Day 2: 5” from yesterday plus ultra light product from guns made for one of our best days at WF. Lower empire was open which was a first for us. Classic New England trail. Gives us access to cloud splitter glades also. Did that as opening run then shot over to summit quad because upper skyward looked amazing. And it was. Usually the first 200 yards is a sketch slide but the whole trail top to bottom were creamy turns. We lapped skyward about 6 x before heading back to wilderness pod. Also a fun seeded bump line at bottom which made the top to bottom worthwhile. Taking a break now. Boys still out there. My legs are feeling it but I may have a few more left in me. Snow tomorrow! 15 F with little wind so really not bad at all Parking lot view: Upper empire: Upper skyward: View of WF from little WF: Bump line at bottom: Upper niagara ((skiers right was $):

  3. Eldora was nice this morning. The new high speed 6 is a welcome addition. Before they had a triple and double at the base and it took roughly 11 minutes to the top. Now it’s about 4.5 minutes. Schools still on vacation this week. I got there an hour early to make sure I got a parking spot. On busy days their parking gets full and you are basically out of luck. Lots of race kids. Was turning into a zoo by 9:30, I left at 10. Wanted to stay longer but didn’t feel like dealing with the crowds. I should mention we really need snow out here. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  4. While on the lift, the dude next to me noticed we both have the same boots. He chats me up and goes on to tell me that my fat Mantras are slowing me down, and his "other" skis which are Volkl RTM 84's are the best ski to pair with my boots. My first response was "you're fucking with me right" and he looked bewildered so I said "Salty??" and he didn't reply. More confused then ever was the look on his face when I told him that I believe the RTM to be too intermediate of a ski for me, and I'd find it way too soft.

  6. Because 95% of the skiing in the world is not in the Poconos. Also, you can't proficiently ski any bump run in PA.

  9. OK as in OK you want more? Sure! The Embraer 170 is a two-engine narrow-body jetliner manufactured by the Brazilian company Embraer - Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica. Embraer 170 is another airplane from the family of two-engine, narrow-body jets manufactured by the Brazilian company Embraer – Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica. In our fleet, it is used for domestic and long-distance flights. It owes its high performance to winglets at the wing tips that reduce air resistance and engines that meet strict noise standards. It takes up to 70 passengers on board. The high-performance and efficient engines comply with the most rigorous noise standards, allowing this aircraft to fly to major airports in Europe and world-wide. Despite its regional character, travellers have a spacious cabin and large hand luggage compartments at their disposal to substantially improve the comfort of travel.

  12. The last few days at Elk have been fabulous. Great packed powder with an inch or three a couple of mornings. Super cold, high today on mtn 14°. We've been waiting until noon to head over, just to see a warm up to 6° or more. Holiday week was pretty busy, the mtn made $$. No lift lines to speak of anytime, today was the busiest day in a while (college wild Wednesday started) $25 lift tickets. Wind has ranged from 0-5-25 mph depending on day. 10 trails from top of mtn are open. 5 more trails plus Lehigh the natural snow only trail until 100% open. They haven't blown snow for the last three days and are required to shut down snowmaking by the Susquehanna something-or-other watershed commission (?) because the county is in a "drought"..... Real nice at Elk right now..... Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  13. Add in the obligatory stop at Roy Rogers, a pee break and driving through the lot looking for a parking space and you'll hit that magical number.

  14. Did you know owner that 170 is the smallest n for which φ(n) and σ(n) are both square(64 and 324 respectively). But 170 is never a solution for φ(x), making it a nontotient. Nor is it ever a solution to x - φ(x), making it a noncototient. Also 170 is the maximum check-out possible in a standard game of darts (where the final score must be a double). It consists of two treble-twenties and a double-bullseye.[3]

  15. I like my skis. I like them alot. They're 98 underfoot so that should make the pol-eaf happy. I also like the yuengling that I'm drinking right now too. So yeah.

  21. Thanks for the encouragement. I've been taking a beating on here since my unfortunate purchase, but the negativity is just not translating to my time spent on the slopes. I've had the best 4 days of skiing ever on my new RTMs.

  24. Made it to the mountain in 4 1/2 hrs (love Waze). Mountain picked up ~2” today which was a unexpected surprise. 15F but under summit little wind so not so bad. Visibility off of summit was sketch though. Generally all trails Skied awesome. Lapped off top (3.5 blue mountains). Still pumping guns on upper skyward. ROTD was upper wilderness (pic) as it was getting a 21 gun salute and with natural was man/nature pow day. Floaty turns, first of season! Lookout was closed, oh well. Picking up pizza, a ubu ale or three and it’s lights out for me. I’m old [emoji41]

  27. You would certainly get a statue high atop Mt. Bluelympus as well. It would be housed in the acropolis along with the statue of AtomicSkier hurling a lighting bolt at me getting too close. Lol

  30. Don't you worry about your 170s Salty, I've seen the PASRs with long skis. They only have one technique and finish their runs really fast.

  36. there's nothing wrong with being a "terminal low intermediate" skier....especially if you are having fun and if that is all you aspire to achieve in your skiing. that said, learning more advanced skiing skillz will open up more opportunity to have fun on the mtn. just buying a new ski won't do that for anyone. btw, mogul skiing exposes bad habits and lousy technique....another great way to learn (or get all banged up, lol!)

  37. I dunno....since I haven't skied with you. best to take a lesson and see what the instructor has to say about your skill level and your gear set-up.

  38. I actually like the video. I just think people who mainly ski the east coast have a whole different attitude. You have to work with what you have. Make whatever you have fun and challenging.
