Last day at Grands Montets, and more face shots were had. Legs were feeling a bit tired but the snow was deep and we headed back to the honey hole for 5 hot laps, ended the day with a beer, hot wine and fondue at a little hut off trail. I didn’t pull out my phone at all today but we got some great go-amateur video that may or may not get edited. It’s still nuking in town but unfortunately we fly out tomorrow morning. This was a trip for the books for all of us for sure, can’t wait to come back! Off trail beer/wine hut Skiing the road back to the bus to the bar Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk6 points

Dude. When they offer next year's pass in February and you don't buy it, the trash talk you received over your 170 RTMs will seem like sweet talk whispered in your ear by a beautiful lover compared to the firehose of absolute filth that will rain down on you for your terrible, terrible decision.5 points

had a nice day with all my fellow subaru owners at jack frost. today was subaru's winterfest and all the ppl decided to show up for the festivities. parking was crazy and so was the lodge, but the slopes weren't too bad. snow conditions were pretty good and coverage in the glades was also generally decent. jf blew more snow after last week's storm, but the quality of snow that was blown wasn't the best. the man-made snow was a bit wet and sticky, which was unfortunate. bumps on exhibition and happy glades were nice. towards the end of the day the exhibition bumps got a bit scrapped, but nothing too bad. one park was nice....i made sure to hit a few features on the way down. it was a jerry-sighting bonanaza: loads of teletubbies, ski jeans, eagles jerseys, etc. could be seen everywhere. also, lots of ppl skiing with mad technical packs and such: i guess that's needed at jackson frost, lol. one girl had this backpack, and it was seriously too big for her to have one while attempting to ride the lift. she fell off the chair at the bottom, so the lifties had to stop the lift so she could get back on....and then she fell off the lift at the top, and the lift almost hit her on the head. womp womp. subaru did a nice job with their swag area. they had a stage flanked by two trendy tiny houses, forming an outdoor courtyard with two fire pits and adirondack chairs and such. at 2pm a 90's cover band took the stage. the played quite the gambit of songs....rock, hip-hop, pop, etc. they were just OK. it kinda made me feel a little old to hear the kids out there getting all excited about the band playing "90's music". oh well.4 points

Hey All, I'm back from another fun day at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 7:25am and the temperature was in the lower 20s but about ten degrees higher up high. In the house were JFDan, Atomic Jeff, Shadows, Toast, Ryan, Nastar Glenn, MBike Mike, Johnny Law, Bethlehem ford guy, Indiggio, Enjorales, Enjorales dad and many others. Razors was closed for racing so first run was challenge which was nice groomed but lipstick on a pig conditions i.e. Small cookies below cord. Nightmare to dreamweaver was a much better carpet and skied repeats on that and sidewinder was very good early on. Both Switchback and Main Street were very nice early on as well. Nightmare to dreamweaver wasn't that busy so that was lapped a few times and the hard right turn on lazy mile was nice enough for a repeat. Was nice and comfortable in the parking lot drinking beer and then went to the BMDI with JLaw, Enjorales and Enjorales dad and had a combination of breakfast and lunch food and drinks and was $36 total for 6 people. Temperatures warmed into the low 40s. Im sure by now it's spring conditions but should be fast snow again tomorrow morning aka sausage Sunday. I'll see everybody out there tomorrow plus Root, TP4 and Matt Edge!!!! JADIP..day 30 for me today.4 points

I got there at 815. Skied till 12. Left. Too crowded for my blood. First time at blue in over 2 years (I think) and gotta say the conditions were excellent as well as the grooming. Park setup was fun, just a bitch to have both parks separate. If you could hit come around from off the 6 pack (without having to ski uphill) it wouldn’t be too bad. Overall can’t complain.4 points

I know you all love MC, some secretly, some so desperately that you piss on its lifts only to keep the place to yourself. I've returned to MC this Thursday again, just to finish it off. Last week I really didn't have enough time to explore because the resort is so spread out, and frankly I don't remember where all the time went... What can I say? MC is both the same, and at the same time has changed! They've figured that skiers' life on the Bear peak was too mellow, and spiced it up by converting the blue run (the only run immune from racing closures) to something with the rolls, banks and other shebangs that people of adventurous mind are bound to love. Really, give the gift of new snow to the fools, and they'll use it well! Other than that the actual snow was awesome. Of course not much remaining of the recent snowfall, it's all been compacted, but nevertheless it was a very grippy and enjoyable coverage allowing one to carve strong and w/o fear of slippage. That is unless you're on the Granite peak, where I had another Deja Vu moment of discovering plenty of icy spots and almost falling on the side. IDK, but from my memories the middle peak of MC is indeed notorious for ice. Must be the microclimate, with a resort that's so wide that the side peaks are not even visible from each other, the weather is bound to vary. You can't just look up Tannersville, PA and assume that you know how it is on the JF slopes. You have to type "Mountain Creek Granite Peak", and then the Weather Channel will tell you if there is something special going on there or not. Speaking of peak sighting, I discovered to my great surprise that Hidden Valley is back in operation. It was brightly lit in the distance. Some internet searching revealed that it's not Hidden Valley anymore, the resort was bought and is used as a non-profit venue to teach kids to ski, but it's just so cool that after installing all the upgrades they can take advantage of them this winter 100%. Back to the MC... It's never boring here. The only fun one can have at BM is the up-and-down kind of fun. You go up, you ski down, you wait in line, you go up, have an occasional forced conversation... Here it's two-dimensional, it's explorational. Since the majority of parking is at the Vernon peak, and the South one protrudes in the distance as an irresistible magnet for snowboarders, you can actually do a small study on these birds watching how they migrate south during the day, and at 8:15pm sharp start their journey back on that long and quiet lift where they can rethink all the victories of the day. After 8:15pm the South peak becomes completely deserted and is the best place to be for a skier, for he no longer fears of being knocked down by a flying board, or tripping over a sitting penguin. Regretfully, some boarders never get to see the South peak because they arrived by a bus and have strict policies of where they get to go. Then you have to listen to their sad stories of how they once were here with their parents and could venture anywhere they wanted. It was fun seeing busses to come. At BM you flee in fear at the first sight of those gapers, here you enjoy listening to their conversations, which can be quite entertaining. "Did you see the sparks that I've made??" - asked one after flying down a mountain bike course (yes, there is that much snow!). "I just love living and being here, I'm a teacher, and every time when it snows I'm off work and pretty much have the mountain to myself". A very high-end, educated and obedient crowd here. Both teachers and kids, mostly from NJ and NY... If they're told to stay at Vernon, they'll never go to the South. I just wish they chose freaking skis over the snowboards! Might be a tad less sparks, but a whole safer for everybody else. I get it why some are so pissed at the Cabriolet. If you really think for a moment, it's the most reliable lift out there. Not once has it stopped or slowed down. It's just a beast running non-stop, and it's fast. There is definitely something to be pissed about. How can a mountain in NJ have something that's so good while others have to endure up to 4 stops at a time on the way up on a gaper's day?! And yeah, it can take 8 people, and yes, salty, it has a dedicated permanent line for singles. I've been pondering about where to go this Sunday all Thursday long. If it was not for the Subaru fest, I'd most likely come back to MC. It's entertaining in some twisted way, and I still have one set of cards left. But too bad, I'm leaning toward giving those Subarus and gourmet coffee a try, so will see MC again at the end of Feb.3 points

Some trip facts Some quotes from the trip. “I’d come back for the food and the wine, but the skiing sucked” “I got some white stuff on my face again” “It’s still snowing” “Is it snowing?” “I should have drank more water and less wine” “Raclette is ready!” Quote from the guide (read these in a broken French accent) “I propose a coffee” “Snow is thin, stay safe” “Im not sure what’s ahead, but it’s ok I have rope” At a minimum we have bought 4 bottles of wine per day, not including what we had after skiing and or with dinner. All bottles were under 10€. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

LOL, no one gives a shit about your stats, but you can't say you skied White Lightning. There's no shame in taking them off if you need to in order to get down the hill safe. That being said, you gotta expect to take some ribbing for it.2 points

You should try three months of listening to them whine about college admissions. Oh sorry you might have to go to your second -choice school which is also AMAZING and for which you will not have to be saddled with student loans for the rest of your life. Sorry you have easy access to an incredible education that 70% of Americans can't even conceive of. Jaysus. Time to step away from the desk and start drinking.2 points

I rode up with some race kids today. I'm pretty quiet but by the top I was real tempted to so "you kids sound like complete assholes"2 points

I can't fucking believe I wasted today grading essays for a bunch of the most petulant and obnoxious students I've ever had instead of skiing. . If I could nominate every last one of them to graduate tomorrow I would. Or maybe they could go live on a fucking desert island until June. #$%^&*()_+@. EDIT: Sorry. Not having a great day. First time in my career I don't enjoy being in the classroom with kids. And when they cut into my fun time, well. Shit just got real.2 points

I'd get a pass to Camel if I were Salty. He can get their anytime pass for like $399 for one more year as a sub 30 year old and it's just as close to him as Blue. Plus he likes it there. It's a no brainer for him really. In his shoes i'd probably either switch to Blue or get no pass starting next year when I couldn't get the cheap one anymore.1 point

It should be "dancing with myself" only replace the "dancing" with "skiing". Cause that's what you'll be doing at Camelback.1 point

Bumps started out pretty solid, so just ran the various trails until about 10:30 or so when the temps finally started coming up from the South wind blowing. Snow turned hero and the troughs softened up from boiler to skiable. We spent the rest of the day lapping Barney's and trying to avoid all the crazies that were out today. Witnessed a number of collisions on various trails today. Wow did it get crowded. Thanks Blue for the VIP lines!1 point

The trash talk is the best part of this forum. Without the trash talk I would get bored and move on to Teton Gravity forum1 point

We have a thing called a VIP line which keeps liftlines to about two minutes on peak weekends for season passholders.1 point

LOL, where would you keep it normally so you can access it quickly during a fall? I haven't fallen on anything steep yet, but when I do (and I realize it's when) my plan is to try to get my feet pointed downhill then do whatever I can to arrest movement, like cut in heels, assuming skis are off. At least, that's what instinct tells me; probably should read up on what the proper technique is.1 point
