I'm awake so fuck it....put ski shit in the car and on my way. Can't stay long.... If someone has an extra buddy pass that would be awesome and really appreciated as $62 + gas and tolls from DelCo for 2 hours is going to suck...but whatever. I need to get back out there. Day 1: Travel day, or "eff this, I'll do it myself" (next time) Up at 530 am to leave at 615 for the drive down to Philthy to make a 930 flight to Denver. Pops picked me up just a bitt late and we rolled out about 640. Made good time and puilled into the valet lot at the Parking Spot I on Essington. See them for all your PHL parking needs. They had us over at curbside check-in by 800 we were checked in just minutes later. The curbside guy was able to add my KTN to the itinerary without a hitch, something they couldn't do over the phone yesterday. If I end up on one of these group trips again I'll opt out of the travel portion . It's hell not being able to manage my own reservation . Breezed thru precheck and waited for pops to clear security with the unwashed masses. Went down to the gate, stopping along the way to buy a diet My Dew. Always buy your drink as soon as you see it, don't figure you'll wait until you are closer to your gate. Might end up being the only place that sells it and now you gotta walk all the way back. Ask me how I know. Caught up with one of the supervisors from my office, and met his girlfriend. Hit up McDoogals and got a sausage and cheesse Mc Griddle without the egg. No one needs me eating eggs right before getting in an enclosed metal tube with them for 5 hours. It a humanitarian thing. They opened the desk so went up and paid $50 to upgrade boarding position to A9. Another byproduct of the group booking was not being able to check myself in or buy the cheaper early bird check-in, so we ended up at the tail end of B group which could not stand. A9 got us the exit row with its copious amounts of room, so it was money well spent. The flight was uneventful. Enjoyed 3 bloody marys courtesy of the super cheap drink tickets I bought on eBay. Grabbed the bags and skis and boarded the bus for the 3 hour bus ride that turned into 4.5 counting grocery stop. Had a cool older driver tho, and enjoyed looking at the mountain scenery. 3+ hour bus ride are something else I'll look to eliminate from future trips if possible. Got tok Steamboat after dark and unpacked groceries and bags. Went down to soak in the outdoor hit tub for about 30 minutes before it closed at 10. Back in the condo now and about to grab some sleep. Plan is to be up at 630 to head over at 745 to grab a pair of glove liners then be ready when the gondi opens at 830. First day of western skiing is tomorrow!5 points

Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches, with localized amounts up to 7 inches, are expected. * WHERE...The Northern Adirondacks in New York and much of Vermont along and east of the spine of the Green Mountains. * WHEN...From 7 AM this morning to 7 AM EST Monday.3 points

Theres a cafeteria at the top of the quad in a building known as the octogon. That's a good place to stop and eat especially if you don't want to have to lock up your skis.2 points

Stowe is a hell of a lot nicer than Killington and not a clusterfuck of trail merges.2 points

Hey All, I'm back from a fun morning session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I pulled into the lower lot at 720am and Phillycore was already in the Hiz-ouse..Schifdawg was in the house as well as Atomic Jeff, JFBBDan, Johnny Law, Indiggio, Tarponhead, MBike Mike, Matt Edge, TP4 and many others. First civilian chair was lit. Nice carpet first run on challenge..was a good second run on challenge as well but beginning to degrade sidewinder wa salrigjt switchback and was empty and New manmade snow Main Street was the run of the day..top half was a carpet second half not bad..pretty much firm groomed and a little sweet and low. Razora was closed for racers and nightmare dreamweaver closed again so paradise was the crazy mile and a quarter. Snow really started to pick up before I left and was interesting to see the temperatures rise and fall with elevation on the way home. Should be several hours of snow for the poconos and this is heavy and wet so bonds well to existing snow won't blow into Danielsville!!1 point

After we hike some early turns in Belvedere in the AM tomorrow, I could hook up for a few runs with you at Stowe any day you are there. If interested, PM me your digits. I'd meet you at the top of the Sensation quad, there's a warming hut at the top. I pop out of the woods from Smuggs there.1 point

My tone on here is always non-serious, even though I forget that it doesn't always come across online.1 point

Im sure New Mexico will still have some good winters but almost everywhere in the Rockies has been getting progressively warmer and dryer. I actually almost moved to Durango years ago.1 point

I think they groom most of the blue runs at Stowe. Try ridgeview to sunrise to lord to start that's easy. Doodle around on toll road..north slope is a good Blue as are gondolier and perry Merrill also be sure to ski spruce mountain as well. Main Street, sterling and whirlaway are all good.1 point

Vermont is like that all the time in any season: ridiculously beautiful in an over-the-top, stereotypical New England way. After a few days of it, you're like "knock it off Vermont, you're trying too hard" and that's when I go to West Lebanon for a reality check. West Leb is only good-looking when it's in your rear-view mirror.1 point

Stayed for an hour or so after you guys left. The snow that was falling was adding up nicely on the hill and the surface was pretty smooth. Slick spots were still there but the edges of the trails were a nice consistency and lent themselves to some nice turns until I gave up and headed home. Got stuck on the wrong side of main street chair though so I wound up using that for a ride, Main Street was pretty great as was paradise.1 point

Today was an epic day in northern Vermont. Started off in Plattsburgh NY where I stayed the night before to cross riding the Lake Champlain ferry off my bucket list. Then in VT the gas station gave me a free coffee for spending $20, which got me super stoked. Afterwards found free parking in Burlington at the garage next to Macy's, and then spent the next 1.5 hours walking around Steeze's old stomping grounds. Highlights were Church Street shops, the waterfront, and Battery Park. Burlington is a nice small town, though I have no clue how Steeze made it out of there without being indoctrinated as a die-hard liberal. Around 1:30 headed toward Stowe, driving through the heart of University of Vermont, and accidentally took I-89 north because it's counter intuitive to take I-89 south to go north to Stowe. After 5 minutes realized I was going north which wasn't consistent with my giant sized atlas, so got on the correct route. During this time freshies started coming down progressively heavier as elevation increased. Interstate was wet but Routes 100/108 were pretty snow covered, so took my time and enjoyed the amazing northern VT scenery, ecstatic that it looks exactly like it's supposed to this time of year. Finally reached Stowe to scope the place out and looked left out my car window to see the magnificent slope. I like that it was foggy because that builds the anticipation to see what the whole mountain looks like on a clear day. Went to the Mansfield Lodge to pick up some trail maps and to drop off my RTMs for another overpriced tune and wax. Using the free wifi saw that toast thinks I'm a gaper. Then took the easy over Gondola to Spruce Lodge and signed up for a clinic Tuesday, which is discounted with combined lift ticket and lesson. Yet another sa-weet deal today. The lift attendant complimented me for wearing my famous A Christmas Story fur hat. Last, checked into Northern Lights Lodge, a really nice place for the low price. At check-in, told the dude I read on their website that if I stay 4 nights I get 1 free, so by remembering this I saved another $97.90. Cha-Ching. This will pay for my lesson entirely and I'll still have an extra $5.90 to put towards my overcharged wax and edge. Told him I'm also an AAA member, but he said if they combine too many deals they'll go out of business. Also the check-in dude went to college in Lehigh Valley so he's familiar with all of the resorts we regularly visit, even Mountain Creek. He's a former Blue season pass holder. Super stoked that it's dumping outside and I'll be at Stowe bright an early for 7:30 tomorrow. Updates to come. It also just made my day that this post is the first on a new page.1 point

Thanks! When discussing lubricating my bike gears with the shop, the owner recommended I use a certain type of lube, but I would need to regularly clean the drive chain. I told the owner I'll start cleaning it from now on, and he correctly replied "no you won't". He knows me too well.1 point

Eh, no big deal. Keep in mid that I'm way better at maintaining my skis than actually skiing them, so I'm a little obsessive in that regard. It's hard to avoid over-paying sometimes when you're traveling someplace new. Have an awesome trip!1 point

Stowe. I should have shopped around for a deal but I procrastinated too much. Oh well, no big deal. I wanted finely tuned RTMs for my next few days of skiing, since I only get to do this once a year. I'll have to start doing more research and shopping around. I hate doing any kind of maintenance on anything so I tend to get lazy about it.1 point
-
Signed up for group clinic. They'll classify me according to ability after watching me do one run. Joked with the lesson lady that they'll probably just tell me to quit skiing. Also dropped my RTMs off for the $45 tune up. There are a lot of sweet RTMs everywhere. They are definitely the most popular ski here.1 point

Thanks, I'll check that out tomorrow. I was looking around their website and I swear a giant pop up came up that said "Don't Be Salty". I cannot figure out how to get it back but if I do I'll post the screenshot as evidence.1 point

Bolton has over 2/3 of its terrain open and just received 4-5" plus lift tickets are prettt cheap there and there won't be liftlines and it's also halfway between stowe and Burlington. Plenty of time for sightseeing after skiing1 point

What's up all. Pulled into the lot at about 345 and somehow managed to get a decent spot in the lower lot. Was on the lift by about 415ish and proceeded to put in 12 runs and was pulling out of the lot at about 715. You all know the conditions for a typical Saturday night so I'll save ya. Lift lines were all but nonexistent by about 6 plus being a single helps too. When did sidewinder turn into a non terrain park? The back to back down bar and DFD kink in the lower park was awesome and exactly what I needed. Lol. Just have to say it felt AMAZING to be back on the snow for the first time in 2 seasons. I hope to make it up once a week for the rest of the season. Crossing my fingers my board stays together1 point

You get a foot at Stowe Wednesday then consider punting on K Thursday or plan on a short day at K thursday. Don’t waste a powder day by leaving early to maintain a itinerary. Enjoy And for fucks sake ski Bolton tomorrow1 point

Good: NMSki always smiling Bad: NMSki always farting Ugly: NMSki wearing towel like a turbin..every time I would go to jeffs room for post skiing beers NMSki would answer the door and immediately slam the door after saying,"we have enough towels" culminating with him coming over throwing four towels in Atomic jeffs face with one ending up in the toilet.1 point

I hadn’t had a chance to post this story until jus now, so I apologize to anyone who has already heard it. On day 3 in Jackson we were waiting in line for the first gondola and I was right behind a big burly guy with a bushy red moustache. I came to find out that this was the same guy that almost kicked Doug’s ass a couple years ago for questioning the local line etiquette. This dude was very aggro, hollering at a fat guy with a cup of coffee who was one of the wallets that ski from 8 to 8:45 am, “no food or drink on the gondy, chump!”, as well as several other funny things. I chatted with him a bit and he was real pissed that the lift attendant was letting some wallets through after 8:45. He screamed at her about this, so she began to enforce the rule. The next group that attempted to come through the gate, she very professionally stopped them and said they couldn’t board until 9. Just then, the burly guy noticed something and said, “oh shit, that’s the one guy that can do anything he wants here, she’s in deep shit”. Jeff was able to read the monitor on the rfid turnstile which read “Tommy Moe - Victor, Idaho”. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point
