Day 4 - Alta Less ppl, more sun. Had coffee first thing and watched all the motivated ppl skin up the other side of LCC. I was glad for the ski lifts bc that kind of skinning looks like too much work for my taste, lol. Yesterday we spent most of our day over in the supreme area. Mad technical skiing in the chutes in supreme bowl let to some spectacular views of LCC. Another lap or two down sugarloaf, then we headed over to the collins side and hit up ballroom (just opened that morning and was mess by the time we hit it). Rest of the day was spent lapping the high t. Ski patrol was blasting the crap out of devils castle, cecrete, and baldly backside. All those areas opened up by noon-ish. Tomorrow is snowbird. And you told me you didn't goto the doctor despite not being able to lift your arm above your head. Don't be so fucking stubborn. Go to the doctor. If I don't see paperwork from a doctor by tomorrow at 5pm you're banned for a week. Shots fired!4 points

Snow just stopped here. Sun is poking through. It’s beautifully white, quiet, calm, peaceful right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

I just got here, snow is picking up as it all comes together and blooms but the phase is off and the temps are a bit warm for the valleys. Less snow definitely west of Philly, reading will probably only do a couple of inches. Will still be a good one for phl and blue should do pretty well.3 points

After packing up and hitting the road after Bromont, we traveled 3 hours further north to the town just outside of Mont Sainte Anne. We had gotten a room at the Quality Suites there and were only 10 minutes from the base of the mountain. After a good nights sleep, we had breakfast at the Quality Inn, got some discounted vouchers at the hotel, and hit the road. The hotel had no vacancies, and the parking lot was significantly busier than when I had come last year. Regardless, it was never “that” crowded. We redeemed our lift tickets and were on the snow by 9:30. Our first couple runs were uncrowded and had no lift lines. We accidentally ended up in a natural snow only area serviced by a T-Bar. Afroman struggled with the T-Bar and we became separated. After waiting for about 45 minutes at the lodge at the base of the backside of the mountain, I decided to take some runs. I encountered my first “long” lift line of about 10 minutes, but if you hit the singles line, it was much quicker. I lapped the backside of the mountain which is mostly Green and Blue cruisers before finding Afroman about 8 runs later. We headed over to the front side to skiers right for some amazing views. Following that, we got some uncrowded runs off the Gondola. All in all, we did 17 runs today, the majority of them from 11:30 to 4 straight. There was significantly more snow up here than at Bromont. There were decent bump trails and some off piste to be had. Still some bare spots, but this storm Thursday should erase that. It was a mix of frozen granular and packed powder with a moderate wind. Overall, it was a great day. Off to Le Massif de Charlevoix tomorrow.2 points

And girlos! Just arrived. Roads were totally clear and fine except for the Palmerton side of Blue Mtn drive on the ridge, which inexplicably had a bunch of snow cover.2 points

They'll definitely need it, they had half of the mountain closed already. Not bad. I still have one ticket left there.1 point

The closer a place is to an airport or major population the more crowded it is. Then you would be complaining about that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I'm seriously considering moving to Sacramento, CA. It's not insanely expensive and has easy access to the Sierras but with the advantages of a decent-sized city. A town with a university is always a good bet for me because I can adjunct and pick up temp work in their office pool. Then if I wanted to get back into prep school teaching, it's a good region, because holy cow do those tech people have a lot of money to spend on tuition. Photo Booth.app.zip Also feeling a lot less sweary, today. The flight isn't full, so I have a whole row to myself and I think the steward forgot to charge me for this beer. I think I'll arrive in Newark early enough to only have to drive home in rain, not snow.1 point

Has there been a lot of snowboarders out? The powder snow usually brings them out in packs.1 point

We got the 4th gondubie up. Quick beer on the way up. When we got off there was 14-16” of new snow. Half the people in front of us turned left. We went right. Completely untracked everywhere. There were 5-7 people breaking trail in front of us and we got in their tracks. Once we got over the edge of Dot Nobel, they completely disappeared and the entire run was again untracked. Shadows and toast got ahead of me for a bit but once I figured out my lean back point and that I didn’t even need to turn I was having the best run this season. Back into the gondubie and another beer we were all sweating something fierce and agreed to drop a layer after the run. Back off the gondi we went left this time. I went down Seneca and I have no idea where the fuck shadows and toast went. Top was wind blown hardpack but past the head wall it was all untracked and ungrommed. Now that was the best run of the season. Back at gondubie base I dropped a layer and tried to stop sweating before they got down. On the way back up we had another beer and things got foggy. We went left again back to where the guys went before. As I was clicking in the Gondi stopped and an alarm and 🚨 started flashing. Snowing 2-3” an hour and zero viz into the Ski pack I caught up to them. Shadows skier ahead. I went next and crashed. Clicking back in was fun but this last run easily became the best run of the season. Heading back down the Gondi still wasn’t moving. As we were gathering out gear a local started complaint to us that they didn’t groom enough last night and we just started laughing. Inside the lodge the power was out and we caught wind they were shutting down. Some asshole lost his shit over this and it was glorious. After two lodge beers we headed out to the car. There were 50-60 people waiting outside for a shuttle to the upper lot. People were still arriving as we loaded up and left for the brewery.1 point
