Here it is folks, this will be our final weekend of operations for the 2017-2018 winter season at Stowe and we have a winter storm heading our way that will bring a Mansfield Medley of precipitation types. Regardless of the weather, make sure to join your friends & family on the slopes this weekend to close out another awesome season of skiing & riding here at Stowe!
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by our excellent local forecasters at the National Weather Service for this upcoming storm system and we are expecting a cold front to move through early tomorrow morning after some overnight rain showers. That push of cold air will cause rain showers to change to a mix of freezing rain, sleet & snow by opening bell tomorrow. Tomorrow we expect light sleet or snow showers, becoming steadier later in the day, and we could see an inch or two of accumulation throughout the day. Additional accumulations of sleet or snow are likely Saturday night, so keep your fingers crossed for one more Mansfield surprise this season.
Make sure to dress for much colder temperatures tomorrow, as temperatures will be falling throughout the day. Afternoon readings are expected to range from the upper 20s at the base, to the lower 20s in the higher elevations. Summit level winds are forecast to be out of the north at 10-20mph.
Tonight our grooming plans to lay down fresh corduroy on 29 trails, including the steep favorites of Liftline & Nosedive. Stowe Parks also plans to give the 117th Street and Tyro terrain parks a corduroy refresh overnight and they have a combined total of 20+ freestyle features. Conditions tomorrow will be highly dependent on exactly what precipitation falls from the sky, though the sliding should improve throughout the day with any sleet & snow accumulations.
