  5. This is true. You do write a mean TR now and again. Check your DMs though because if i end up in Vermont I'm hitting you up.

  6. I’m determined to try out Elk this year. Probably won’t go until the whole mountain is open since it’ll be first trip, and likely not a frequent spot

  7. I get that. There is no right or wrong here. I would rather spend $70 bucks to go ski Elk with some buddies than ski Blue by myself.

  8. blame that piece of shit Chris Christie for cancelling the new tunnels they were trying to build in 2010

  9. ^^^i just never try to get worked up over thinking they will open black friday every year. Rather be surprised than dissapointed.

  10. I don’t disappear on purpose. Just get busy and stop checking in on the message boards. I still try to write TRs from time to time. Especially when they are different mountains, early season, or epic snow conditions.

  12. truth.com Blue Mountain and Camelback are both better than elk

  13. now this is really funny! elk's terrain is OK, but def nowhere near to being the best in PA. they need to open up the woods there, that could be a game-changer for them. I've had better snow conditions at Jack Frost more frequently than at Elk...and that's on a consistent basis. Elk def has the old-school vibe going for them, but not totally in the cute charming way. the base lodge cannot adequately handle the current number of visitors, just too small. I don't mind the slow lifts, keeps the trails less crowded. Elk is just an OK mtn and IMHO it gets too much hype for what it is. that said, it is def worth a day trip once in a while.

  14. Hopefully get to use my warren miller vouchers this year! I'd take blue's terrain with elk's snow any day , unless tunk bumps are happening I find it kind of boring

  15. Are you down? If so you're more than welcome. As is anyone else who can fit in the flex. no HSQ = no GSS

  16. Elk is always expensive. no way to get around that. I feel like the past two years at Blue that week was less crowded than i thought it might be, maybe that translates over to Elk as well, dunno. Christmas is on a Tuesday. I actually wish it was on a weekend.

  18. You'll like it. It's worth the drive every now and then.

  19. I get it. If Blue was 10 minutes away from me I'd have a pass there too, not just the 6 weekday deal that I get. But it is still worth checking out sometime for a day just for some variation and to see what it is like. Other than a HSQ they could also add some glades as opposed to their "No tree skiing policy".

  20. Let me know too and I'll introduce you to the bartenders and buy you a beer....

  21. Eh, it's hard when Blue is <10 Minutes away and I pass 4 other mountains to get there. But, I still feel like it is worth it to check out once so can bitch about it when everyone else does, and defend it when others do. Right now I have no opinion other than what I've read on this stupid site.

  22. That's kind of surprising. Elk has the best terrain and conditions in PA (and yes, I've been to Blue Knob twice). The lifts aren't really slow. They are just not high speed detachables. And when you consider that you're not waiting in line like at Blue or Camelback, you'll be at the top in the same amount of time. Although I do think that they really need to replace the doubles in front of the lodge with a HSQ at some point.

  25. Yes, I enjoy a day trip to Elk. Met some folks there last winter, snow was perfect, and zero crowds

  26. The trees lining the B & C lifts really block the cold winds and make the slow rides more comfortable. Downside, one can no longer watch the skiers on Susquehanna on the ride up... Mr Moore was the sole importer of VW to the Philadelphia market at one time.

  27. They wont advertise this but i heard the army of smurfs using a system of underground pulleys to operate the lifts quit. They were replaced by trolls. Not angry trolls like the ones that live under bridges. The cute and colorful trolls from the DreamWorks movie. If, when standing in the lift line, you hear the faint sound of Justin Timberlake's "can't stop the feeling" its them! Long story short im surprised season pass prices didn't go up because the trolls do command a higher wage. All of that said, I'm jonesing for a little Elk. I think a day trip is in order this winter.

  28. Elk always claims to plant hundreds of trees per year. I want to see the receipt for all 600 trees and I want to see each of them numbered up on the mountain.

  29. Well elk does more improvements than any PA place.
