Its was groundhog day once again at Blue Mountain. Lazy and Paradise went to shit pretty early. Main street held together the best, lower main typical. Homestretch was spicy, but im sure it was nothing for Skitoolives kids. The 6 needed some repairs early on, the quad looked like it was gonna be grumpy as well, but it turns out they just forgot to turn the lights on. Every lift ride was good for me. Parking lot was spot on. Nice work by Enjorales.6 points

Conditions were got-damned terrible, but it was the best snow within 20 minutes of my house. Good first sausage Sunday. Credit where credit is due, Atomic dropped some mild and spicy Italian sausage on the group, and Steeze finally remembered the mustard. Going back out after wasn't the best choice, lol, say what you want about my choice of adult beverage but 8% will leave a mark. Fun fall on the falls ended that second sesh right quick. Good times with good folk. Hope to see some of y'all tomorrow.5 points

They totally ignored your comment about bringing your skis into the bathroom. Their social media person missed a lot of opportunities for jokes about length, width, ripping...I mean, the possibilities are vast...4 points

Hey All, I’m back from the first sausage Sunday of the season and rolled into the lower lot at 720am. The temperature was in the mid 30s and flakes were coming down. In the house were NMSki, Atomic Jeff, Salty, JFDan, Toast, VTMark, TP4, Indiggio, Slim, Ryan, Mute, Root, Enjorales, Antman Enjorales Dad, MBike Mike, Matt Edge and many others. The six pack had issues the first hour so it was the quad and second civilian chair. Main Street was smooth firm cord upper half kind of choppy lower half. Lazy was crazy some runs and Paradise was spicy. I even skied X-into once which was smooth frozen cord and snowboard gates set up. The parking lot was fun with a variery if fine meats, sausage, snacks and shrimp..a couple beers and comfortable temperatures. Only one lifestyle shot from today.3 points

A few of my facebook weather outlets are looking at thurs/fri now as possible snow. It could also monsoon on us again. As a realist, i tend not to hope for things that wont happen to come true. I hope it snows. We need something good to come our way here. Maybe it means the forecast will trend colder overall sooner, so they can get back to work on Razors.3 points

Local history continues... Also go to check out the old rail line that used to run through there and into Palmerton during my run this morning. If I remember correctly, it was the Chestnut Ridge Railway which was originally built for a potential brick factory from the white clay in the area. That never happened, but the line was still used for local industrial transportation but more importantly to transfer workers from Kunkletown to Palmerton to work at NJ Zinc. The more you know...3 points

Today was fun. Thanks as always to Enjorales for the surf and turf. The shrimp were awesome...and the sausage had great mouth feel. Skiing sucked.2 points

His face, when I told him who I was, was one of my favorite memories of Blue. Definitely play cards with him for money: no poker face. 🙂2 points

1968. Lots has changed in Bethlum since then. You can see the steeple of Central Moravian Church in the far left, the old passenger and freight station that is now The Wooden Match, and City Hall in the back. The old bridge crossing the river was replaced with the Fahy Bridge over the following years, and the trestle crossing the canal fed the Fritch Fuels which is still there.2 points

The morning has started quite unexpectedly with some snow falling and drifting on I-80. Conditions were pretty awesome all day long, uniform and soft in the morning slowly progressing to a mix of small bumps and areas scraped to firm base. Thankfully no ice, so still plenty of traction for whatever kind of skiing you like. Race team has started early, and following a caravan of minivans at 30mph was probably the most annoying part of the day. Luckily, on the slopes the race teams took very-very small profile and were hugging just the left edge of Challenge most of the time. At noon the lodge has predictably overflowed, but not so bad as I remember it on Presidents day weekend last year. We should've skied beyond 2pm, but the lack of sun and high humidity eventually got to us, so we left before closing. Bottom line, grabbing those Cyber Monday tickets at night and diverting to JF on busy days still makes a lot of sense even if you have a season pass elsewhere.1 point

Best skiing of the year today for the first hour, for me anyway. At least Main Street, Chute, and Midway were pretty good. After sausage fest, the conditions had deteriorated and everything was really choppy so I left.1 point

Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot around 7:20AM and the temperature was in the lower 40s with moderate winds. In the house were Toast, JFDan, Atomic Jeff, Schifdawg, Indiggio, Bethlehem ford guy, Mrs Snowbunski, Enjorales, Enjorales dad, Justo, GSSucks and many others. I mainly skied Main Street as it was the smoothest and least amount of traffic. Trails weren’t that crowded mainly season pass holders and race team. Yesterday’s rain put a dent into blues skier and rider visits. Snow was super firm and fast given the temperatures..paradise was sort of rough and lazy has a few skeet spots showing through..upper Main Street as well. I skied one run from tuts lane than crossover to the main lodge down vista to midway to little gap to Burma to shuttle to homestretch. That’s a long run. Had a few parking lot beers..enjoyed the sun not as good people watching as two days ago..when I saw sports bras and Asian invasion...I’ll be back tomorrow morning it’s sausage Sunday. I just need to buy beer and mustard. JADIP1 point

Way firmer this morning than anyone could have imagined, which was odd. Good skiing on Main street. both lazy and paradise had interesting spots. i took the time to look back at last year.......11 degrees for first chair on 12/29/17. 100% open 12/30/17. Good god we need some real snowmaking temps.1 point

There are some things in life, SaltLick, that you never "get tired of". Skiing is one of them. That's like someone saying..."hey how do you eat on a regular basis. Don't you get tired of it?" or "Hey how do you laugh on a regular basis? Don't you get tired of it?" The answer to these questions are a resounding no Salty. As it is for skiing. I hope this answers your question1 point

Because skiing is only partly about the skiing. It's about the camaraderie, beers, sausage, etc.1 point
