Left NJ at 0-dark thirty with son #2 and made it up to sugarbush in 5.25 hr (Lincoln). 15F at base, couple degrees colder up top. Started on some groomers because son’s #2 first day back on skis since breaking leg on gully #1 at big sky last year. After lapping a few and since castle rock is still closed headed to area under direct sun (north lynx triple). Limited terrain but sunrise or sun dimple or whatever the fuk you call the bump run off of the lynx chair was $. Firm but still not crazy technical. Lapped that and whatever bump run it’s called under lynx triple down to bottom on perder whales with many snow guns going (15F) under lift that gets you to lynx chair (I should be a SB mountain guide). (Self) limited terrain but crazy fun day. Been skiing blue since November so nice change of pace. I knocked it off at 3 but #2 skied until last chair while I drank Lawson’s sunshine at bar. Then Mad Taco dinner; a perfect ending. Was planning on MRG tomorrow but reports been sketch so may lay out $ and ski Mt Ellen tomorrow. (Today was warren miller free vouchers.) TBD.8 points

I had a nice morning with @toast21602 at Blue today. Place was mostly empty until 11. Only sugar was on Tuts and Home Stretch. Main was nice, but there's some weird grooming going on there. The hard right on Lazy was unusually smooth today. Left side of Paradise was silky smooth and really firm. Did Burma twice. Lots of dirty snow everywhere. At one point an inspector was checking the operation of the safety bars as sofa's came into the terminal..7 points

Lots of really good stuff and pics from 2018 but here's one of yours truly and another (sidewalk art) that I quite enjoy.4 points

What gets me is that people on detachables will try to put the bar up a few towers before the top where you're still some 20' above the ground. Really you could leave the bar down until you get into the station and still have time to put it up and get off. When i ride with strangers, I keep my skis on the bar until we're almost in the station just to torque the other people on the chair. If they say something to me, I just ask: "Would you want to fall from this height?"3 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 721am and in the house were JFDan, Atomic Jeff, Indiggio, TP4, Slim, GahSkier George, Antman, Gary, MBike Mike, Mrs snowbunski, Dude4Bides girlfriend, feel Matt and many more. The day began with 50 degree temperatures along with peppered bacon and mimosa. Was a leisurely start and were on second chair. Wow just wow Main Street was good once you got past the first skeet spot..smooth and soft corn woo woo..paradise was pretty good as week and the falls was incredible so smooth..Eddie money shit I’d take two tickets to paradise if paradise was the falls earlier. Fun session skied till almost 10 then had some beers in the lot..and one of MBike mikes famous beef and cheese sangs..hit the spot. Now back in the A..hoping the temperature drops nice and low tonight so some snowmaking will occur in the early AM. JADIP2 points

I plan to only ski for the first 2 hours after opening until this so called cold arrives. Who is "they"? When are they sending the cold weather? I need to ski down Razor's Edge on my RTMs before March. Today i was playing The Evil That Men Do by Iron Maiden because the lyrics say "living on a razor's edge" and it's my go to song to listen to while descending that run.2 points

Weird. The snow feels like spring (rough, wet, heavy), but the air doesn't smell like it at all. Hardly pleasant, I only hope that while the night is progressing, the snow will set. Lazy is the best so far, even though it's full of skidmarks. The weekend is not going to be worth a 2hr drive. They say that cold weather is coming, so perhaps not all us lost.2 points

The people that dont like to put the bar down have probably never experienced an e-stop on that lift. One thing that lift can do is stop on a dime. This is just a real tragic accident.2 points

The bar goes down on every lift ride for me. Once you pull it down and get a ski on it, it’s not going back up. I’ve had people complain on the lift about it. Too bad, if they don’t like the bar down, they are free to find another chair.2 points

That’s what I’m planning on doing out there this year! And in winter, so way more core.2 points

I think you are right. The whole hardcore thing, pretty ridiculous. Everyone trying to one up each other. Like; “I went for a hike today”. “But I hiked a 14er today.” “Well I rode my bike from Boulder to Estes Park, hiked Longs Peak...before work.” Kind of gets exhausting2 points

Thats really terrible news to hear. condolences. Hard to write a report after that news but... Today was a blast! Took one run and figured Id wait in the corral for the PASR crew which turned out to be Doug, Jeff, JFDan, MBike Mike, snowbunski. Then we lost MBike and bunski, picked up TP4 along the way and me and TP4 ended up taking like 6+? laps together after the rest went to the lot. @theprogram4 nice meeting you brotha. @mbike-ski thanks again for the balboa sandwich.2 points

I’m heading to sugarbush in February for a few days (I’m poor, Jeff). Pumped to see what it’s like.1 point

True story. I was skeptical earlier today when I read you can microwave your phone for 1 minute and it gives you a full battery. I shit you not, it worked like a charm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Those are usually the same people who upon getting on at the bottom yank the bar down so quickly you hardly have a chance to get seated, then raise the bar way early. Every time I have seen that it has the feel of them being afraid of the lift. Once when I was on the 6 alone, I left the bar down until the chair detached in the station which scared the lift attendant enough for him to come running out of his shack just as I raised the bar.1 point

Today was really good. Bacon and mimosas to start, following by incredibly smooth corn snow. After a beer, I went out for a run around the mean streets of Little Gap. Upon my return Mbike had some steak sandwich and a beer waiting. Great way to start the year.1 point

Hey All, I’m back from the first sausage Sunday of the season and rolled into the lower lot at 720am. The temperature was in the mid 30s and flakes were coming down. In the house were NMSki, Atomic Jeff, Salty, JFDan, Toast, VTMark, TP4, Indiggio, Slim, Ryan, Mute, Root, Enjorales, Antman Enjorales Dad, MBike Mike, Matt Edge and many others. The six pack had issues the first hour so it was the quad and second civilian chair. Main Street was smooth firm cord upper half kind of choppy lower half. Lazy was crazy some runs and Paradise was spicy. I even skied X-into once which was smooth frozen cord and snowboard gates set up. The parking lot was fun with a variery if fine meats, sausage, snacks and shrimp..a couple beers and comfortable temperatures. Only one lifestyle shot from today.1 point

Its was groundhog day once again at Blue Mountain. Lazy and Paradise went to shit pretty early. Main street held together the best, lower main typical. Homestretch was spicy, but im sure it was nothing for Skitoolives kids. The 6 needed some repairs early on, the quad looked like it was gonna be grumpy as well, but it turns out they just forgot to turn the lights on. Every lift ride was good for me. Parking lot was spot on. Nice work by Enjorales.1 point

Local history continues... Also go to check out the old rail line that used to run through there and into Palmerton during my run this morning. If I remember correctly, it was the Chestnut Ridge Railway which was originally built for a potential brick factory from the white clay in the area. That never happened, but the line was still used for local industrial transportation but more importantly to transfer workers from Kunkletown to Palmerton to work at NJ Zinc. The more you know...1 point

1968. Lots has changed in Bethlum since then. You can see the steeple of Central Moravian Church in the far left, the old passenger and freight station that is now The Wooden Match, and City Hall in the back. The old bridge crossing the river was replaced with the Fahy Bridge over the following years, and the trestle crossing the canal fed the Fritch Fuels which is still there.1 point

Thanks! My cousin has driven 2 times, so that's helped a touch. To be honest the driving isn't that bad. I like waking up early and the drive there is kinda therapeutic: super early in the morning, no cars on the road and an easy drive with next to no turns (and anticipation!). Sit back, relax and do a lot of thinking. The ride home can be tiresome but I try to ride the "high" of a great day of riding for most of the car ride. haha. However, I have been thinking A LOT recently about picking up a beater car before next winter. My car is by no means very nice but I feel sh *t putting soo many miles on it. Plus it would open more possibilities in regards to snowdays....my car is not made for the snow. lmao.1 point
