  1. Blue had more new snow then Alta, sure. Did Alta have more snow? Sure. We met up with Ryan at Alta today for some turns. He gave us a rowdy tour of the place. We sidestepped/traversed all the way out to Eddie’s High Nowhere/East Greeley bowl which had variable conditions at the bottom. We also skied Spiney Chutes in Catherine’s which was heavy, but soft snow. Towards the end of our day, we saw someone skiing down East Baldy with no other tracks to be seen. Up the mountain we went. 15 minutes later we made some great turns through a chute that lead to some glorious wind buffed pow. Ryan and I look the same in photos. I have the brighter blue pants.

  2. Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot around 720am with snow falling and a temperature in the lower 20s. Somewhere between a skiff and a coating of new snow had fallen. In the house were Johnny Law, MBIke Mike, Nastar NMSki, Glenn, Salty, Ryan, Mute, TP4, Shadows, Antman, Matt Edge, Indiggio, Rodney, Slim, GahSkier George and many others. First civilan six pack..Main Street was the bomb deezy..was a western groomer with titty sparkles on top. Repeated that for second run and still had swaths of untracked skiff of perder on the upper half...woo woo woo...Paradise had decent snow and wasn’t that busy initially. I only skied lazy mile once..was nice that the race team got the falls again. I ended up skiing about ten runs total and the snow stayed decent and no real liftkines but after i stopped skiing the quad apparentenly had issues but I’m school the part is coming priority mail from Slovenia so all good. Another fun parking lot with donuts, beer and 90s music...high five for stoke!!!!

  3. I’m in love with Alta, and I can’t imagine how great it is on a low day. Hiking for those turns today was more than worth it. I’d come back for sure. Great skiing with @JFskiDanand @AtomicSkier out here. Thanks to Jeff for stopping at the end of the chute for that great shot of me in the chute in East Baldy.

  4. Skijoring is pretty fun! Traffic was awful since it was a powder day. Took us 3 hours to get to Frisco when it should have taken less than 2. My friend and I planned to get up there early before the class and snowshoe. There wasn’t time for anything long so we just went to a trail at the edge of town so I could walk the dog a little. There were several large female moose hanging around the parking lot so I had to keep him on his leash. There were 5 of us in the class and the first half of class all the dogs wanted to play and everyone was getting wrapped up in leashes and falling down, including myself. By the end, the dogs started to get the hang of it. But when we were standing around I quickly learned I had to be in a dug in snow plow because at any given moment my dog could want to run after something. The equipment is less than $100 so I am going to buy a setup and take him to local places. There were times he was running so fast I couldn’t ski I just tried to stay upright and he was doing all the work. Group shot the instructor took. I have never seen my dog more tired. He totally crashed in the car as soon as I loaded him. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  6. Today was the best snow of the year, first run was a perfect carpet of titty sparkles. It finally feels like winter is here, new trails will get open soon.

  8. Got there this morning, and headed right over to East Mountain. Nicely groomed and got first tracks down Rivershot. 17°, no wind and sunny. Skied Rivershot until it started getting a little crowded then headed over and lapped Challenge and Thunderbolt until about 1030 when the lessons started. No snow in Challenge glade. Was on my Rossi 9S slalom skis which handled really well. Haven’t been on them for a couple of years because they just didn’t feel right. Then over the winter I did a poor man’s stone grind with a base flattener, half dozen grades of sandpaper and polishing pads, reset the edges and they ski great. Really quick going from edge to edge. Can get some nice turns without going as fast as the Rossi Experience 88s. Nice when it’s crowded out. The lodge wasn’t too crowded on my way out around 11. Some snow at home first thing in the morning, but nothing up at Frost.

  11. We are both incredibly sexy, so the confusion is understandable. Hope to see most of you this weekend.

  12. It was a hard choice between BM and CB today, given the expectations of a high crowd at BM, yet reportedly decent snow there yesterday, more open terrain at CB, and yet shut down Sullivan express yesterday afternoon. In the end I figured that I'm getting sick of skiing the same trails over and over again, took the gamble and went to CB... The commute was dreadful. There was more salt on the road than snow on the shoulders. We passed at least 5 trucks on I-78 that were dumping even more salt, all despite pretty optimistic forecast for north NJ and morning in general. In contrast, no such madness was observed on the other side of Delaware river. Our favorite CBK Lodge was closed today, so we had to drive and park near the main one. That took some time, but we still got to the lifts right when they opened them to the mere mortals. The first impression of the mountain was that there had been a lot more trails open than on BM. Two blacks top-to-bottom, King Tut on the right, Nile Mile on the left, Cleopatra, Honeymoon, all the major arteries had snow on it. Moreover, if they wanted, they could open even more because it looked like there was enough ungroomed snow on Bactrian, Pharaon and Raceway, but they chose to use the daytime to make more snow instead. Folks must've got scared by the chance of snowfall or perhaps the mountain not being 100% open yet. It wasn't crowded, no usual crazy wait at Stevenson express due to hotel guests, no snake line at Sullivan, in fact, in 75% of runs we didn't even bother using single lanes. The first two hours were spent on the big top-to-bottom trails like Rocket, Cleopatra, Honeymoon, Nile Mile. With not too many people initially and fresh snow on top of a hardpack, going fast was easy and we've had a blast. After a small break crowds picked up, and the main trail conditions deteriorated, some scraped ice in some sports, some medium deep piles on others, so we retreated to the shorter trails in middle of the mountain, i.e. Rhododendron Glen, Moore's Ramble, Turkey Trot. Snow there was still great, and we just alternated between them and the Stevenson and Glen lifts until we got tired and left at about 2pm. Around noon lines at Stevenson got almost non-existent, but not too many trails were available from it, and Nile Mile already deteriorated enough so we still used the express only to get to the center of the mountain. I'd say that perhaps for a few trails like Cliffhanger where they didn't even start blowing, they have nice chances of being mostly open next weekend. The weather is gonna be funny then though.

  13. I'd probably alternate seasons between Blue and Camelback if not for PASR. Camelback has good runs and an easy drive, but distinctively lacks parking lot socials with a karaoke machine and, of course, Sausage Sunday. Plus at Blue I never know if I'll get to ride the lift with a celebrity, like Nastar Glenn.

  17. Good conditions today. Falls being closed for the race team made it a bit more work getting back to the valley lifts from Main, Lazy, etc... Rode the lift with Mt. Bike Mike and had a short conversation with Johnny Law, good day all around.

  26. Yeah, saw it on the ground floor near ski check in the hotel building. First I'm thinking: OK, everybody has to be first in something in PA, and then WOW, it's not even in PA, it's in the USA!

  39. Hey All, I’m back from a fun sausage Sunday at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot around 720am and the temperature was in the low 40s. Phillycore was already in the house along with Steve the guy who brewed beer for us. Also in the house were Atomic Jeff, Johnny Law, Toast, T Maki, mute, TP4, VTMark, Shadows NMSki, Ryan, Indiggio, enjorales, enjorales Dad, Root, Salty, Schifdawg, the real Kevin Thomas, Matt Edge, The Dude4Bides;’tickle me Toast, Antman, GssUcks, Ty and many others. Firsr civilian 6 pack was had and first two runs on Main Street were great top half was semi firm smooth and bottom half was super soft smooth but Main Street deteriated fast and the lower half became rowdy. The falls was closed off for racers so lazy mile skiers and riders had to ski the whole mile an the whole mile was fun and I skied it twice. That’s a mile and a half+ long run when you add in tuts lane and shuttle and home stretch. Paradise was alright a little choppy and the sharp turn is rough...short skiing session then into the lot sausage Sunday was in full affect with a barrel of mango beer specially brewed for this day and a variety of fine meats, snacks and Antman brought Donuts as well which were the bomb deezy..JADIP
