Ahhh another year at the ice fest. Was great to break up the trip staying in CB first. Left nice and early this morning to make sure we got a spot at the top lot and so we got a good spot in line at the demo tents. After getting my crampons and tools I decided to also demo a very warm Rab puffy. Took it off for climbing but when belaying or standing around had it on and it made all the difference. Very cold today. Three of us were on time and ready for the clinic, the other 3 people showed up 10 min late and did not have on their harness or crampons on. How fucking annoying! Then we descended into the gorge. That is always super sketchy. At the bottom looking what we just came down. I belayed 3 people before I climbed, so my arms were tired when I started. I had a hard time with my first climb and didn’t get very high. Second one was better but still not great. I’m calling today a warm up day and hopefully tomorrow I will get higher and be more relaxed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk5 points

One time I drove with @RootDKJ and @Shadows to Belle when it snowed 2'+ and they closed down after a few runs because they lost power. We got deep turns, moderately buzzed, and had a grand time.4 points

This is one of the most bizarre things that I've seen in a very long time. It's almost as if a former, disgruntled Men's Journal employee hacked into their website, removed Lake Placid and added Tannersville to F with them.2 points

If you start at 8:30 and ski until 12:30, you'll have no problem doing 15 - 20 runs. 20+ runs if it's as uncrowded as I'm hoping it will be. Eat ribs around 1:00 then.... Now I know when to light the 🔥..2 points

i didnt mention this yesterday cause it put me in a bad mood, but today im laughing about it. my dumbass arrived at blue at 8:25 am yesterday to see the lifts not spinning. i checked their facebook and no updates, logged on here and saw they were closed. i checked their facebook like 5 times on the drive up and saw nothing, but its my fault for not checking the website, i should know better. only the second time ive ever showed up at the mountain and it was closed, last time was at camelback and i just drove to montage for $10 tuesdays. to make matters worse, i decided to try the palmerton route home. i made a wrong turn and ended up in like schencksville and walnutport and orefield lol. once i got home it was like 10 am, so while i wasted gas and tolls, i would have slept in til that time anyway so no huge deal. riding bear later that night made up for it2 points

Sticky snow is cheaper - more gallons per minute at a given temperature means denser snow that doesn't till as nicely, but lasts longer, builds up quicker, and costs less. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk2 points

I have to admit the new hotel, water park, bottom and top lodges are pretty nice. I bet more than half of the people who stay there never get on a board or skis. I was told they plan on building a lift from the slopes to barley creek also, however I can’t find any proof of that.1 point

No worries. $39 isn't bad for 4 hours of skiing. We'll be ready for ribs and beer!1 point

Wow just wow. I was actually thinking I should have made sure Matt Edge didn’t go to blue yesterday because he is still on MySpace. TP4 you are one of the more hardcore PASRs. Almost as core as salty.1 point

figured i would add my little report from last night to kyle's thread. a good time was had. there were probably 10 other people there besides me and ski patrol. i regret not getting pics, but i dont like to ride with my phone and the place was so empty, i parked in the first row so the lodge blocked any picture potential. when i got on the slopes at 6:15, it was apparent nobody had been there all day, as there was still frozen cord everywhere. also, half the seats on the lifts that were running hadnt been put down yet, and lifties would have to run out and put the seat down for you. everything was open except the diamond that takes you from the far quad (old triple) back to the base (the trail that used to have a sign saying you could die). alot of trails were hurting for snow, especially on the old triple side, there were spots where the dirt and shit stains took up 3/4 of the trail width. driving to bear i had been thinking i would get hit with huge waves of nostalgic feelings regarding my former home mountain and place where i learned to snowboard. instead, it felt like i had just been there recently and never left, even though this was my first time back in 9 years. i told the ticket agent I was a blue season pass holder and see mentioned i wasnt the first blue mountain pass holder to go to bear that day.1 point
