Hey All, I’m back from a fun sessson at Blue mountain the true mountain. The temperature was around 20 degrees and I was set on finding some new ski pants. Well I didn’t see any pants I liked so I skied in my khaki pants..I didn’t make first chair I was in the second PASR pack with Matt Edge, Schifdawg, Salty and Walt and Walt. Also in the House was everybody else.. Conditions were pretty nice except on lower Main Street and challenge which had cookies. Switchback was also spicy by smooth. Lazy and paradise had nice snow and sidewinder still has rollers. I tried the bumps once and they were pretty chalky with new blown snow. The highlight of today was of course sausage Sunday. So much great meat and nice weather. Ski2live and the twins were even out. JADIP7 points

Just got home from a fun weekend skiing with the family. We drove up to the Catskills on Friday afternoon and checked into our motel. Woke up early on Saturday morning and went up to Plattekill. I can see how this place would be awesome when there is good snow, but it was in rough shape after the warmth and rain a couple days ago. Lots of ice and thin cover. My new skis are no longer new. Totally loved the down home unassuming vibe of the mountain. Unfortunately on one trip down Overlook my wife took a big fall on some exposed dirt and rocks. Hurt her shoulder but she was able to bounce back. MRI tomorrow though. I also came upon a guy who was laying between a tree and a fence unconscious but breathing. Super scary stuff, but I was able to get help. Hope he ended up ok. I did about a million runs down Powder Puff and Lower Face with my kids. All in all we had a good day at Plattekill and I really want to go again when conditions are a bit better. Mountain View Me with the kids We we got dinner at the Russian restaurant at our motel which was awesome, had a couple brewskis and went to bed. Sunday morning we got up and hit Belleayre. A lot of closed runs, and glades of course were not in play, but the grooming was great. We did many many laps on the gondola which had a pretty quick moving line despite the huge Presidents’ Day crowds. My wife was a tough trooper skiing with her busted wing, and my kids continue to get a little better and have lots and lots of fun. Had an awesome rodeo burger in the summit cabin for lunch. In the afternoon when everything got scraped off I was grinding spines and surfing sugar on the sides of trails. Called it a day about 3 and bounced back home. Awesome 2 days of skiing. I always forget how many turns I make when I ski with my kids! I’m pooped! Little man cruising Ski bridge Wife and daughter Kids in gondola Wife and daughter again7 points

Hey guys...been lurking here a long time, just reading reports and stuff...I bought the cheap season pass to Montage that was posted in this forum (I appreciate the heads up on that), so I think I at least owe a few reports. I've been riding most Saturdays since early January, but this is my first report. Got there around 8:30 and took a run down Cannonball. It was pretty firm which is what I expected, but not terrible. Next run I cut down Fast Track or Runaway (can't remember which) to get to the Long Haul. It has actually been running every time I've been there. Had a nice session IPA on the lift and did a few top to bottom runs. After that, lapped Boomer and Smoke a bunch. Conditions there were pretty good and softened up as the day went on. They mowed down the rollers and bumps on Boomer that were there two weeks ago. Did some nice faster runs, which was fun, but I did miss the bumps. Hit White Lightning once, which was ok but not great - firm and icy in spots. Left around 12 and stopped at Breaker Brewing for lunch. Beer was awesome as usual. I look forward to the brewery stop almost as much as the mountain. Anyway, hope you enjoyed the report. I'll try to post some more reports as the season goes on (or I could just keep updating this thread). I'm going to try to go most weekends. It's tough with a 1 year old at home, but I can usually get a morning session in.3 points

Yeah it has been running every time I've been there. That has only been on Saturdays so far though, so I'm not sure if they run it every day. The Phoebe Snow lift broke a few weeks ago when I was on it, so I was happy the Long Haul was running then.1 point

Aaahh, I've seen you! The smell actually made me think about opening grilling season ASAP. It's nice that Blue is not the only place seeing some juicy parking lot action.1 point

Thanks guys. I like Montage, the fact that it's never crowded is one of the main reasons I go there. It's actually a little further than Blue for me, but I figured if I bought the pass and ended up using it only a few times, I wouldn't be too bummed out. Normally I'll bounce around a bit and do a few trips to Montage, Jack Frost, and sometimes Blue. I try to do a trip to Colorado once a year if I can, my best friend growing up moved to Steamboat 8 or 9 years ago. Thanks! I started saltwater fly-fishing 4 years ago or so, and it's become a bit of an obsession. That was a ~30 lb redfish that I caught in Hopedale, LA (not far from New Orleans) in December.1 point

We aren’t the ones who complain about slow lifts. One of the best days of the season in PA for me!1 point

Terrible snow by JF standards... It started as a thin layer of groomed granules on a rock solid base. By about 11-12 most of the interesting trails turned into icy death exacerbated by high crowds. Challenge was completely taken by racers, and the racers seemed to believe that they were some special breed. Kids cutting lift lines, dads saving 15 seats in the lodge at a time awaiting for champions to come back from the slopes. The lodge actually got crowded right from the start, i.e. 8am, and became a complete chaos later during the day. Nice part was that Challenge taken by racers kinda made it more difficult for people to migrate to the east slopes, so River Shot and GSS's most favorite trail in Poconos were actually quite skiable, but not without icy spots either. The two double lifts also ran with zero lines all day long. Best part of today was hot chocolate and donuts proudly served by Subaru not only to the happy owners of Subaru keyfobs, but to all mere mortals as well. Thanks, Subaru!0 points
