  1. My son made me on his DS. Apparently he thinks I look like a nerdy version of Chuck Norris

  2. Got there around 8:30 and parked in the third row. I was shooting for an 8 AM arrival but I wasn't feeling that great the past few days...my daughter was sick last weekend - she picks up all kinds of germs at day care and usually passes them on. Did a few runs on Cannonball and Runaway/Fast Track, and checked on the Long Haul (wasn't running). Conditions were pretty firm/packed powder and frozen cord. Did a few runs on smoke/boomer and then decided to crack the lift beer I was saving for the Long Haul. Lapped Boomer and Smoke for a bit and then did 3 runs on White Lightning. Pretty much everything was groomed flat except for some small bumps on the left side of White Lightning. Had a nice fall - belly flopped and slid catching a bump I didn't see. After that I checked on the Long Haul again, but still not running. I did some runs on Rattler to Cannonball and just kept hitting Boomer/Smoke. Rattler had some cookies at the top but wasn't too bad. I called it a day around 11:30 since I still wasn't feeling that great. I skipped Breaker Brewing this time...wife wants to go out to dinner and after a few beers and some food there I usually don't eat the rest of the day. I did stop at Saucony Creek in Kutztown for a quick lunch (short rib sliders and an IPA). Overall not a bad day. I was hoping the sun would come out and the snow would soften up a bit, but that didn't really happen.

  5. Snow was alot better than I would have thought, snow was much more even than Thursday night. Lower park is irrelevant. Switch was good and sidewinder is still super playful. Tarpon - Death Posture is crazy good beer and the abv creeps lol EAF ! - I have a pair of stockli stormriders that haven't left my basement since last year. If you like stockli's so much they are yours, somebody should ride them.

  6. Well started this day a little later than I wanted to due to a thirsty Thursday at PJ Whelihan’s. Didn’t let it stop me though. Had the day off from work so headed up to JFBB. Overall Day was pretty solid. Spent about two hours or so at both mountains. Jack’s more advanced slopes were perfectly groomed. Glades weren’t all there and covered though. One park had some nice features to play around on. then headed over to Boulder. The Boulder Park run is hands down one of my favorite views in all of PA. They don’t have any terrain set up on it though. Just huge whales. Off to the side it looked like they were setting up a boarder cross race which looked 1000x better than blues set up on dream weaver. Best part about both places was that they weren’t crowded. No lift lines and just got right on for the next run

  7. I have to disagree that Boulder has the best view. Blue has an awesome view from the top. That ridge is a gem ... Hawk Mountain, The Pinacle, Pulpit Rock. Appalachian Trail. It’s so cool to stand at the top and see snow squalls in the distant hills, bald eagles. It’s different every time I’m there.

  8. Actually I live outside of Reading (Sinking Spring). Nothing's wrong with Blue, but I couldn't pass up the $ 150 season pass to Montage. Montage is ~20 min further than Blue for me, I usually make pretty good time on 476. Honestly though, I'll pretty much ride anywhere...I'm pretty easily entertained. Planning on at least one trip to Blue later in the season. I'll have to check that out. It has actually been pretty good this year up until today. And yeah, Cloudy is great, I picked up cans of that and Tickle Parts. Last time I checked it was 10 am or so and it wasn't running. I asked and they were planning on opening it, but not sure if it ever did.

  9. Cloudy is awesome beer. Look up into the top house on long haul sometime, it's a mix of 50 different long defunct lift companies and "custom" parts. I assume that's why it doesn't always run but it is cool as all hell.

  10. Not sure why so many complaints about the snow... Yeah, there was some sugar, but in reasonable amounts. Compare this to early Jan when all trails turned to shit literally after a couple of runs. Today there was a firm frozen base, and while sugar did form, it wasn't that bad at all. Well, maaaay be some places like lower park or Burma got real bad real soon, but why would you hang around those places anyway? In short, it wasn't the snow that made me quit around 1pm, it's the crowds and maneuvering between them that became annoying. Plus they closed Vista Room for some private event, and made everybody take their stuff from it. Patrollers really seem to be cracking down on Paradise bombers. I was able to do two fast runs first thing in the morning while the trails were still empty, but after that every time I went there, there was always somebody in red jacket either whistling or staring at my every move. Not worth it. Sidewinder was not that crowded all day long, and Switchback welcomed me with the lack of ice. Really unusual for Switchback. Dreamweaver was used for race warmup early in the day, and was crowded later. Two surprises in the ski department. One was GSS not showing any love to his Atomics, and the other one was some random guy on Stocklis. Don't get to see them often here, and he even had a pugski sticker on them. Yet, the moment I started to feel a little bit excited, he told me that he was going to switch the Stocklis for Kores due to snow conditions. Ugh. Races were fun to watch, they got quite lucky with the weather (lest we forget about some rain tonight). So all in all, it was a pretty good day today.

  14. Fun day today. Got my lesson in, but the amount of sugar made it difficult to work on drills. Still productive though.

  19. Crazy amount of birds migrating this morning. This went on for ~5 minutes and they were super loud squawking and because of how many their were you could hear their wings flapping.
