Rummy 68, Big Al 69, and Dad 70, are heading out to MT tomorrow on our 35th annual " StagTrip". This trip will complete our list of skiing the top 30 Western Resorts in the USA and Canada. The rankings are from readers of Ski Magazine several years ago and I'm sure have changed somewhat over the years. But anyway close enough... Overnight tonight at a "park and fly" hotel, then fly out of Dulles / Minneapolis / Kalispell. Rented a VRBO in Whitefish. Walking distance to bars, restaurants, grocery store and shuttle bus to the Mountain. No car necessary as transfers from/to airport are booked as well. Conditions are real nice ( not quite JH nice) and weather is good for next week with some snow, but mostly sunshine predicted. We got a real deal on lift tickets. Dad skis Free at 70, one week's pass comes with the rental, and an old phartz 4 of 6 day pass is $207. We'll split that $207 three ways at a cost of about $13.00 per ticket. I'll keep the crew posted.....10 points

Finished up with a summit to base leg burner. Skyward to cloudspin to the bottom for another 3200 vert. A nice gentlemen offered to take my pic from the summit at Skyward. Another great day of skiing at whiteface in the books.10 points

A few more great runs since the power snafu. Approach to wilderness, up little WF lift down Essex to the summit for another skyward to cloudspin run. Perhaps the run combo of this trip. Enjoying a veggie burger before heading back out.9 points

Went to the summit, skyward to lower cloudspin, complete with chowder and even some titty sparkles. Cloudspin is a fucking gem of a run. Was always closed whenever I've been here.9 points

First fast run off little WF down approach to mountain run back to the gondi. 2600 vertical feet of soft cord and amazing views. Had to stop for a pic9 points

Great day. Legs did better then the lungs. Recovering with a Wilson IPA pitcher, Parm Truffle fries and the great playlist at the Mangy. More pics and a trail report later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk6 points

Speaking of toilet bowl, it took us less than 24 hours to go through the tp in our room. Luckily it’s been restocked.5 points

This is the only picture I took today, having too much fun to stop and take photos. Every lift was ski on today, no crowds, no lines, bluebird day. 23 degrees and not a cloud in sight. Lapped gatehouse for an hour until slidebrook express opened at 10. Took that over to mt Ellen, down to north ridge express, made our way over to summit quad and lapped runs through that area (can’t remember all of them) for 3 hours. Took a few park laps then back up to the top of summit quad. Hit the trees between FIS and panorama, surprisingly good. Lower FIS and spin out had moguls, getting better at those each day. I think the hockey background has helped me skiing with the quick turns and having a feel on what the edges are going to do. Called it quits at 3:30 and took the shuttle back to the condo. Heading out to castlerock pub shortly for happy hour.5 points

Hey All, I’m back from a fun night session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 640Pm and a few minutes later Atomic Jeff arrived and then Enjorales. Also in the house were MBike mike and Matt edge. Temperatures were in the upper 20s with light winds and a few random snowmaking cannons were blowing snow onto an already deep and solid base. Both the quad and the six pack ran until 8pm and the it was just the six pack. There were a solid amount of people out with a double digit amount of buses. I only skied razors and nightmare to dreamweaver. Both were semi fast and had very edgable snow..more on the chalk side than hardpack. I did Razors about 2/3 of the runs because you gotta get it while it’s open and I still don’t love nightmare to dreamweaver due to a few Root rollers. Skied until like 8:45pm then spent an hour in the lot drinking beer and shooting the shit. Was a fun session and ends a really nice month of skiing where I skied 17 times..not as good as back when I’d ski nearly everyday but I’m on a nice pace for 70 ski days which I can’t complain about. I’m confident with the deep base and cold forecast blue will make it into April perhaps mid April. Ski everybody who’s not in Canada, Jackson hole, sugarbush, whiteface, Greek peak and Taos this weekend.4 points

There really are some awesome veggie burgers. They’ve come a long way. Ridge, that was a great choice.3 points

Damn. Didn't think my lunch would have been so controversial. It was really good and I didn't feel terrible afterward so it was a win. Now that I think about it, I just drove 5 and a half hours straight home and felt great the whole way. I have a feeling that if I got the bacon cheeseburger I would have had to stop somewhere. All the credit in the world to that veggie burger!3 points

So fucking ridiculously jealous of everybody skiing Jackson, Utah, Whiteface, Whitefish, Sugarbush, etc.........but it doesnt look like a horrible weekend around here. Snow tonight might be decent, snow Sunday night could be significant. And of course, there is always the chance its 60 degrees and sunny.3 points

Checked out Localfolk Smokehouse I’m Waitsfield last night, cool little bar/restaraunt. The food was alright, it was a little bit on the pricier side given what it was (bbq) but that’s to be expected around a ski resort I guess. They made up for it with their beer special, 20 different beers for $3 each on Thursday’s. Had a Switchback pale ale and another beer from their on-property brewer (Cousins) along with some smoked andouille sausage. Woke up this morning to 5 degrees and what looks to be another bluebird day with a high of 25. Gameplan today is to take a few warmup laps off of gatehouse and the lynx triple then head over slidebrook to mt Ellen. No new snow fell in the last 24 hours. Enjoy the view from the condo.3 points

Unless there’s a major storm lines won’t be an issue. I’d like the free food but not hot about staying that late. I think blue purposely does the season pass party later for lower turnout.2 points

Hit Gore on the way home. I skied there the past two weekends and conditions were good. If you like glades, I hear the ones off Burnt Ridge are skiing really well now with the recent snow. Just a tip: If you go, boot up and get your ticket at the Ski Bowl. Much less crowded than the base lodge and easy to get to Burnt Ridge.2 points
