The area we went to in the park was formerly a ski area, closed in the early 90’s. Found an old trail map. We were in the area I circled but have no idea which ‘Trail’ we took down. Will have to pay more attention next time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk7 points

He's a purple anthropomorphic T Rex from the Land make believe. Before becoming a singer / actor he was a bad ass bump skier in the mold of Johnny Moseley. After losing a few competitions he decided to leverage his other talents (singing, arm swaying and acting) into a potentially more lucrative career. He obtained an agent, hit the big time and the rest is history. In an effort to honor his skiing prowess, Blue decided to name a trail in his honor. Believe it or not he still skis recreationaly at his home mountain in the Land of Make Believe but given time constraints (as you could imagine) his skiing is limited. Post skiing pick of Barney below.6 points

Telling the lady what to write was a hoot. Figured Salty could have dibs on the piece with the 170 icing.4 points

First civilian chair with Toast, Atomic Jeff, JFDan, Schifdawg and Johnny Law. Some did razors to taint to falls. I did challenge. Snow was firm rattling kind of snow. Lazy and paradise were better with a few nicer sections in the sun. Sidewinder was rough. Crowds were light..absolutely no lift lines and when we already had a full six pack anothe tried to join us. It was around 40 degrees most of the morning under mostly cloudy to partly sunny sky’s..a few snow showers as well which likely dropped temperatures back into the 30s for a bit before the sun took over and warmed things up. Challenge started getting better and better..so I skied that the most..there was still fresh cord after 915am woo cause it was frozen so solid. Skied till about 9:45..was in the lot a solid 3 hours..tons of fun..bounced around chatted with Nastar Glenn and some of his sons homeys and GSSucks crew was a little buzzed so did the smart thing and put my boots back on and returned to the snow around 1. Was a different world out there more casual skiers and riders and hero snow. Skied razors to Razorback which was so good so good which is what some say when singing sweet Caroline. She was a fucking slut. Got the green light to ski a run on Bump course. It was real nice I held my line just fine on my 115 kastles and did a spread eagle on the jump was about the fifth or sixth time I got air today with a few more mini airs later after the jump maybe 4-5 more bumps you could straight line. Said wazup to indiggio for a second then went back to six pack. I then went to switchback which was money..smooth hero snow..then sidewinder which was hero snow a little chop to Hollywood through on last pitch for the people above..falls was nice as well. Did that one more time and then bounced. Was fun and tomorrow should be similar except for more food and drink. JADIP4 points

Barney was Blue mountain founder Ray Tuthills dog. I always used to think that tuts lane was named after king tut but it’s really named after the tuthills. Burma road is after Burma where I believe Ray was in World War Two..4 points

Ordered this backpack. Decided to get a snow specific pack that fits all the avy gear properly. Have a shovel and beacon on order and found a used probe at a local shop. Can’t wait till all my stuff is in and I go out again! Also picked up this book. Lots of good spots in the park when I get more comfortable. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk3 points

Once Toast left it started to get nice. Challenge and NMDW were pretty damn smooth. Could really put the hammer down.2 points

Thanks for starting the report mixilplix. I was not surprised at the hard snow to start. I called it in TNTs thread but when I went back out after a few beers the snow was dynamite and I got to sample the Bump course. Full report to follow in a little bit.2 points

Ahhh that's the famous and rare photo from his very last competition! Legend has it that this was the event that prompted him to give up skiing for show business for good. So much talent, wasted.2 points

Definitely got better later in the session. The first couple runs were just so solid. I got my limited quantity Epic Pass today.2 points

Went back into the park today. The access road to the area we were going just reopened late yesterday afternoon due to Wednesday’s storm. It was a gorgeous day and we arrived about 10:30 to sunny skies and no wind. The skin up started mellow then got steep. I am still figuring out the best way to go about things and on a particularly steep section I started to slide backwards a bit. Thought I would have more traction if I put one ski into the powder and get it out of the skin track. That was a huge mistake. I then tried to get it back on the track but it seemed harder to do then it should have been. Since my heel was loose whenever I lifted my ski the nose just stayed in the foot of powder. Here is a picture of how ridiculous this was. Overall a great day and I have a lot to learn with the transitions/etc. A well deserved lunch in town after. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point

So I nearly met you guys. Was about 10 chairs behind you when you tried to load seven on the six pack. Was that Saltyant who stepped aside and rode alone behind you? Don't really know who I recognized, but definitely was sure it was at least a few I've seen ics of. Figured, this is it! Finally going to say hello after all these years.... Put the hammer down, maybe gained a chair or two. Couldn't really think of anything to yell - like "hey, you guys up there! I know you from the internet!" Ha....but what if I was wrong?!?!?! Thought maybe you guys would stop to chat at the top, but off again trying to catch you - I think blazed down challenge again, maybe razors...or maybe it was the other way around...but anyway, lost some time on you that run, then, third time in, my ticket wouldn't scan and I had to chat with the lift in tie dye. And just like that, the dream was over. Another day at Blue - maybe a season, without saying hello. I was speaking with one woman on the lift later, and she was talking about how she lives 4 miles from blue, and tailgates with people she met years ago....I was thinking...maybe ...so I referenced the PASAR and she looked at me like I was a leper. She said she hangs with the old transformer crowd. Something about a parking spot near the transformer. She was super friendly. On the way out, saw two large tailgates but didn't recognize any jackets from the morning encounter. But sounds like that might have been you guys. Early runs were bone chattering - GSS called it. Got better around 11 and was down right fun after 12. Have a good party tomorrow. See you next year?1 point

No action shots as I was in front of Shannon. She is just learning to ski and I give her a lot of credit for basically learning this way. It wasn’t pretty. I still feel like my form goes to hell in powder. I have to learn just to trust the skis and let them run. I must say the Zelda’s felt good though! Skied the powder much better then my other ones.1 point

When my kids were school age, they were dragging me out of bed to ski. My kids and the kid next door would shovel our driveway when it snowed before the sun came up so I could get them on the hill.1 point

You do not want Vail or any other corporation buy Blue......Everything will change... I was riding at BC/Doe Mountain ever since they opened it to snowboarding...Taught there for like 13 years.... Doe Mountain was a total shit hole by anybodies standards....but it was ours....You could pretty much do whatever you wanted to. Kinda what you guys have at Blue When Doe Mountain got sold, everything changed...Sure the snow was way better, but way more people...way more expensive...cameras everywhere...No more fun....It totally harshed our buzz... So....You do not want Blue to be sold....Just my two cents... .1 point

Vail resorts ? Really ? That's so.......basic. If there is one thing Blue mtn isn't it's basic. Weird means different and different in this sense is mostly good. I can't knock her at the end of the day if she takes the $$ and runs, the ski business is shitty and who knows if anyone else would want it. That said I would be disappointed if she sold, Blue is Blue, it has character and is interesting, Vail is wonderful but does the EC need another Disney type place ? What about another faux Austrian village like Stratton or a billion other places ? 5 high speed 100000 packs won't make the skiing any better and it's sure as shit going to make almost everything else worse. Does blue sometimes make some rather interesting choices ? Sure but they also employ people almost entirely from the area. Think about if you can even name another resort that does that. Besides skiing fast on Paradise they let us do pretty much whatever we want. When it snows they have never once said a word to me about skiing wherever. Fuck this weekend there is a dude who's going to make Creme fucking Brulee in their parking lot. The owner walked into the parking lot and asked a bunch of men drinking beer at 1030am what we thought if she asked us to move and when we were not so thrilled did absolutely nothing. Think about that for a second, what if we did Sausage Sunday outside of a karate dojo, in most of the world that shit just doesn't fly. I've been lots of places, there is a place for Vail resorts but there is also a place for slightly weird places that break the mold. Skiing shouldn't be golf and if saving a couple hundo on traveling places is something you'd give up alot of things money can't buy than Vail resorts is right up your alley. Vail resorts loooooooves bubble lifts, what more do I have to say ?1 point

That’s mentioned at least 20 times a season. None of the current liftline organizers even use a ski pole or engage the people..Beau was the best.1 point
