Got back from skiing in Tahoe at Alpine Meadow and Squaw Valley with the extended family. Had up to 11 skiers of varying abilities (from beginners to ‘I don’t want to know what they are skiing’), and alpine meadow is great for being able to ski different terrain but more or less keeping together as a group since all the lifts on the front side loaded from one area. At Squaw there was a dizzying amount of lifts going in all directions. Squaw had a lot more dramatic scenery, and some great black bowls, but a lot of the green and blue terrain was not that interesting. Alpine had a lot of sections of bowls groomed, and I stuck with mainly the groomed sections or shorter less steep ungroomed sections. The younger folks did some of the off piste backside runs. There was a tremendous amount of snow, pretty much every line was open. They have some really sturdy houses at the resort. The weather was great, bluebird skies spring skiing. Was able to get in 11 straight days. Demoed some Head Kore 105’s but still prefer my Experience 88’s for the groomers and occasional ungroomed sections. Looking out the back of the house, towards the peak serviced by Scott’s lift Needless to say, they didn’t take the easiest way down, but I did. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro7 points

That was as perfect as a spring day can get. Snow was pretty decent even first thing and the afternoon session was really nice soft spring snow. Enjoralas, holy fuck dude, I would wager there isn't a ski area parking lot in the world where someone eats better. You are a saint.6 points

Great day at Hunter today. Hit at least all the blacks and double blacks and all the Blues on the new Hunter North area. Hit this one trail twice (K27) as it was the most bad ass of the stuff that was open today (only one West side trail was open, and it was groomed). Ungroomed terrain was real soft and nice today. Very different mindset here from Plattekill though, as they groomed most trails into a nice base that will last for several more weeks at least, while Plattekill left it almost all natural to enjoy and seems to be glad to make the most of a shorter season. Of course they also got less fresh snow here (8" to Plattekill's 18")4 points

Getting close to finishing out the season, was out for a couple of hours this morning at Jack Frost. In the high 20s when I got there and the slopes were a little crunchy. Coverage is still really good and it warmed up a fair amount as the morning went on. Pretty quiet first thing, but more people were coming in during the morning. Hope to get out next weekend if the resort is still open. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro3 points

Wow. Props to Blue. Here it is March 24th, not much in the way of crowds yet the lifts are turning and the snow is great. Literally had not a moment to myself this weekend until now and there's Blue, open till 9 on a Sunday night in late March ensuring that I get some skiing in this weekend. Beautiful evening out here.3 points

Yea man skiing tomorrow and Sunday. I need to hook up with the family mid morning but would be interested in a game plan to make the best out of the early am for some fresh tracks. I guess north is Ellen - we’re based out of Lincoln on the access rd some that might be tough, I’ll pm in any case On to today, so sick! The reason we’re here is my oldest daughter has a friend with a place her so her and their peeps are here for the weekend and invited us up. We got or own place and this morning I dropped mrs snobunski off with them and Niko and I headed to MRG to check a box off my bucket list. Got their e a few minutes after opening a and headed for the single chair, maybe 3-4” dense by then, started with antelope and ran a bunch of stuff through glorious cream cheese bumps before I started sweating like a pig and and lost viz with the gogs. Swapped lenses and worked the trails and woods skiers left of the single chair - paradise was roped off. gogs effed up again - fuck this shit getting me some of those fancy fan thingy’s NMSKI has! Snow is boot deep and drifting to knees up top and getting lighter. Third goggle swap to Nikos spares, the kid has to eat which is the kiss of death fo me. Eat/beer and head back up and paradise I’d open so we hit it. I’m stoked (haha autocorrect but really soaked) to the bone and stiff as shit and tumble the first section, shit was DEEEEEEEP, ankle to thigh over rocks, moss and ice. I quickly get my shit together only to get separated from JR and get choked out in some steep(!) bramble, find a escape chute and let ‘em run to catch up with the kid. We’re hootin it up in the trees left of Moody’s when Jr catches a snow snake and takes a scary fall. I hoof up and get his skis and poles, seems to be ok but shakin up for sure. 3rd pair of gogs fucked though... Jr wanted to sit down and check out his knee /ankle, I ran back to the car for another gog swap and watch a Honda lose his exhaust on the parking lot woo de doo formed in front of our car. Kid was toast so we called it at 1:45 - quality over quantity. Met the mrs and kids at their place for beers and laughs, then dinner at mad taco. A top ten day for sho’ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk2 points

After a long night of drinking last night thanks to picolo and of course beer pong I decided to head to Boulder since they opened at 10am this morning. I saw in the weather reports that there was some fresh snow up there but I wasn’t sure what to expect. Made first chair up as well. Conditions were absolutely great. Only real bad thing was the wind which kept me back from going huge on any jumps since it was blowing straight up the mountain. When I got there they were still grooming a few trails. They also had the absolutely huge features still set up from Ms. superpark but they were closed to the public. Didn’t have any lift lines. Think they only actually scanned my pass once maybe twice. One funny thing I found was on the one chair was a sticker from roundtop (another peak resort). They still have the entire mountain covered and their half pipe is even more on point then it was before.1 point

Get a new probe that fits in your pack. I’m sure you can find uses for the extra long probe1 point

Went back to RMNP today. Sorry no pics. Temps were warm, snow was garbage. It snowed Fri night so I though it may still be decent. Hidden Valley is such a popular area, however, and it was all scraped off ice. We did some practice in the beacon park, so nice that they have this! I really hate my probe. Not only is it ridiculously long, but to keep it extended properly there is a top screw that is kind of tricky to engage. I feel like if I was panicked trying to get it extended thst would take valuable seconds. It also doesn’t have measurements in the side. On a positive note, I remembered to have my boots in walk mode this time for the skin up, so felt s little easier. Overall still a nice day to be outside with good company.1 point

I like the sidewinder video. It’s not a competition as long as you’re having fun that’s what matters and you’re at the level where you improve every time you ski..you’re also in control that matters!!!1 point

Hey All, I’m back from a fun spring Sunday at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot around 718am and in the house were Atomic Jeff, Johnny Law, Toast, Ryan, Mute, Mixiplix, Root, Schifdawg, Enjorales, Enjorales Dad, Indiggio, Slim, Bethlehem ford Guy, Silver fullface helmet guy, GSSucks, Justo, rose, Ty, theRealKT, Joan, Joan’s husband and many more. Temperatures to start were in the upper 20s under bright sunshine. I had three leftover bottles of champagne so had some early mimosas and didn’t hit the snow until like 815. The snow was very firm early on but decent. The best snow was on the tops of challenge and Main Street and lazy mile was pretty good. I even skied the whole mile for stoke and the big turn on lazy was getting some serious sun and minor corn by 930am while the rest of the mountain was still a frozen tundra. After about 8 runs went to the lot had a few beers and Enjorales made some amazing food including sausage, ribs, burnt ends brisket, flat breads, shrimp and creme brûlée. Around Noon was probably 50 degrees out and time for some full on early spring skiing. First checked out Main Street and the bumps were very large. Then the razors bumps which were nice and very long. Last section was the best part. Razorback had amazing smooth corn..over on lazy snow was slow but the falls was good. Did 7 more runs then back to the lot around 130..me law and AJeff were tired and bounced. Was a great spring day thanks Mother Nature, Barb Green and Enjorales.1 point

Hunter North area is a lot of fun and would be even better I am sure on a day when all the glades over there are open. Nice that there is never a line over there. It is not the most challenging terrain on the mountain, so I figure the deaths over there are due in large part to misleading sign. There are a couple trails that are listed on the map as blue/black, but the signs on the actual trail list them as just being blue. They come right off belt parkway, which is a blue about on the level of Lazy Mile, but these trails have a pitch more like the double blacks at Blue Mtn. So I can see people seeing these trails that also appear to be marked blue coming off the blue they are on, and seeing them as good options to try, when they are really much steeper (and with fall lines that could send you into woods if you cant turn with the trail)1 point
