  1. Got back from skiing in Tahoe at Alpine Meadow and Squaw Valley with the extended family. Had up to 11 skiers of varying abilities (from beginners to ‘I don’t want to know what they are skiing’), and alpine meadow is great for being able to ski different terrain but more or less keeping together as a group since all the lifts on the front side loaded from one area. At Squaw there was a dizzying amount of lifts going in all directions. Squaw had a lot more dramatic scenery, and some great black bowls, but a lot of the green and blue terrain was not that interesting. Alpine had a lot of sections of bowls groomed, and I stuck with mainly the groomed sections or shorter less steep ungroomed sections. The younger folks did some of the off piste backside runs. There was a tremendous amount of snow, pretty much every line was open. They have some really sturdy houses at the resort. The weather was great, bluebird skies spring skiing. Was able to get in 11 straight days. Demoed some Head Kore 105’s but still prefer my Experience 88’s for the groomers and occasional ungroomed sections. Looking out the back of the house, towards the peak serviced by Scott’s lift Needless to say, they didn’t take the easiest way down, but I did. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

  2. Keep checking their snow reports. It should be great coverage based on how much snow they've had this year, but if it warms up quick, things start to melt out and could change pretty quickly. That said, the scene on superstar at that point will be stellar. Top to bottom bumps, people from up and down the east coast all congregating on that one trail to get some prime springtime bumps laps in. It's super fun. Unless you've got a crazy good deal on the grand, don't stay there. I stayed there with my wife last time we were at killy and it is absolutely not worth the upcharge. It's unlikely you're gonna be able to ski in/ski out at that time of year anyway, and it's a long-ish walk to the lifts. Summit lodge is one of my favorite places up there. It's usually cheap, has awesome breakfast for a slight upcharge, they have a bunch of hotel st bernards hanging around the loungy areas, and it's a smaller family run place. It's on the access road, about a 5 minute drive to the K1 parking lot.

  3. If you don't show up, @toast21602 has my permission to ban you until the 2019/2020 ski season starts.

  4. It's been a good snow year but as others have said, it can get melty fast and we're starting to get some warm days. Still, in Mid-April you'll likely be able to ski Snowdon, Ramshead, and my favorites: the trails next to Superstar (Sylark, Bittersweet, et al.), which get nicely bumped-up and fun throughout the day. The Superstar chairlift and adjacent umbrella bar are where it's at as far as the scene, which is very fun and laid-back. Get there early and you can tailgate in the lot. You should come with low expectations for snow quality and a LOT of warm-weather wax; there will be puddles in the base area and it will get really heavy as the day goes on. I still think it's a blast and really not-bad skiing.

  6. Our plan is to drive up Sunday, ski Monday and Tuesday, then drive home Wednesday. Probably going to splurge on slope side lodging in the Grand. Three nights, 2 days skiing coming in for under $900

  12. Getting close to finishing out the season, was out for a couple of hours this morning at Jack Frost. In the high 20s when I got there and the slopes were a little crunchy. Coverage is still really good and it warmed up a fair amount as the morning went on. Pretty quiet first thing, but more people were coming in during the morning. Hope to get out next weekend if the resort is still open. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

  13. No you don’t want that. If they voted and failed they have to wait at least a year before voting again. They will go again soon. Before June perhaps

  14. After a long night of drinking last night thanks to picolo and of course beer pong I decided to head to Boulder since they opened at 10am this morning. I saw in the weather reports that there was some fresh snow up there but I wasn’t sure what to expect. Made first chair up as well. Conditions were absolutely great. Only real bad thing was the wind which kept me back from going huge on any jumps since it was blowing straight up the mountain. When I got there they were still grooming a few trails. They also had the absolutely huge features still set up from Ms. superpark but they were closed to the public. Didn’t have any lift lines. Think they only actually scanned my pass once maybe twice. One funny thing I found was on the one chair was a sticker from roundtop (another peak resort). They still have the entire mountain covered and their half pipe is even more on point then it was before.

  15. I would rather have them vote, so it's on record who exactly the holdouts are.

  18. Almost perfect day today. Looks like MRG members can keep grinnin' for a while longer. That's some spiritual uplifting when mother nature blesses the mountains with an abundance of snow. 3 more inches down tonight so far. 👌White power!

  20. Wow. Props to Blue. Here it is March 24th, not much in the way of crowds yet the lifts are turning and the snow is great. Literally had not a moment to myself this weekend until now and there's Blue, open till 9 on a Sunday night in late March ensuring that I get some skiing in this weekend. Beautiful evening out here.

  22. Made it home in 3:10 including taking a gas stop and McDs drive through stop. Quicker going there in AM I'm sure. So if we get 2 days of skiing in and spend the night up there, same drive time to ski time ratio as day tripping to Blue. And 2x the ski days with better quality ski terrain and more snow. Gonna be digging the Peak pass.
