Hi all. I have been following this forum since last season, and having fun with some threads, so, I thought it would be polite to introduce myself, as it seems I already know some of you (at least by nicknames!) I was born in Brazil at a German family in the mid-sixties, lived in Portugal for around 25 years, and around 2 years ago got transferred by my company to US branch, living and working in Jersey City. Regarding my “skier” life, while in Portugal I had some trips to Sierra Nevada (6h drive) and Andorra (12h drive), but it was not easy nor cheap. I had some lessons back then, but never got further than a green trail. Last (2017/2108) season, I did not knew anything here, and one day I ventured into PA to visit the ski resorts around. Visited CB, but fell in love to Blue Mountain. It was only around beginning of March that season when I started to go skiing, and, despite my very low level, I love it. I had some lessons at BM, and was progressing again, almost starting from scratch because it was more than 15 years since my last time on skis. Last weekend of that season (already in April), I stayed on a nearby hotel for the weekend, and skied at BM on Saturday, and at CB on Sunday. Started the Sunday skiing at the bunny slope (Sunbowl) as usual, then had a fall (don’t ask me how or why!), and tore my ACL + MCL. Had surgery in August, and being on physical therapy since then. My doctor is very cautious, and has not cleared me to go back to mountain yet, so, this season, the closest I got to skiing was reading this forum! As I’m already in my early fifties, I don’t know if I will ever get past the green slopes and ever have the pleasure to ski with any of you, but, if you don’t mind, I will feel as part of this nice group of people, with this nice passion that I share. I was planning to go there to see the pond skimming on Sunday (I would at least recognize phillycore if he really brings his pink tutu as he said!!), but, as it moved to Saturday, and I have already plans during the morning, will not be able to make it, unfortunately. At least, I hope to see you next season at the base of the slopes, or at the parking lot!7 points

Didn’t think it was my last day at Blue when I woke up, but found out on the lift that it was going to be. Fun morning riding with TP4 and Root. Even had a lift ride with Cliff and Eileen. Plenty of snow all around and was about 40° by the time I left at 11. I’ll be at Camelback Sunday since Blue bailed. It would make it my most mountains in a year(4) to bring my total to 6. I wish I was lying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk7 points

You will get past the greens. ski with people that are above your level some. watch and learn. Take a lesson. take the time on your own to hone in on tips people give you. Rinse and repeat. There are alot of people here that can give solid advice on technique and equipment. Absorb it. Research. This isnt a bad place if your skin is just a little thick. Enjoy.5 points

I can’t believe they not only moved the pond skim, not only moved closing day, but also moved the 4 pm closing time to Saturday. Lol.3 points

Yes, I think it is hard, but I'm hoping that as I'm patient, and like to learn new things, I may be able to evolve a little bit, being able to practice more regularly. Anyway, even still going instinctively to the damn snowplow when speed increases, I really enjoy a lot the time I have in the slopes, and it seems "therapeutic"! So, even if I don't progress much, I will not give up3 points

Great ski day at Belle today. Timed the ride home at 2hrs and 58 minutes door to door but that included a stop at Mickey D's for shamrock shakes and a detour on route 940 near pocono pines. Excellent conditions on all trails with sunshine and blue skies. Most of the glades were closed. Cathedral Brook was as well which was a bummer. Everything else was on point though. ROTD was Seneca and Deer Run over the bridge and back to the gondola which is a nice long cruiser for the full 1400 which I don't think was possible before the gondola. Speaking of which we rode it a ton and never with anyone else which was awesome. Plenty of white in the trees and off piste which is of course the opposite of what we have here. Always a nice time at Belle in the spring.3 points

I feel like I need to go to Camelback with you, since I've been the one who has introduced you to every other mountain you've visited.2 points

Hey All, I’m back from a fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I bugged out of work early and made it to the lower lot by 250pm. It was in the upper 50s with a south wind. Rodney and the MILFs were blasting tunes and drinking beers. The sun was shining bright. I wore under armor, polo shirt and shell and I was a little warm but not that sweaty perhaps because my fly was down the whole time. Only a few dozen people in the house. I didn’t even ride the six pack with another person. The base is still super deep on 90% of the mountain and some thin areas and skeet spots on the usual places. I mainly skied razors to Razorback because it was the best..right side of upper razors was pretty smooth left side along the Bumps was choppier..middle section soft chop and Razorback smooth corn on the right side and last section very nice. I skied sidewinder once and too hald was smooth and the Hollywood section was choppity chop when it sets up in an hour or two will be rough. I skied until 420 and the drive back was a breeze..seemed like everybody was going the other direction on blue mountain drive, 145 and Root 22. I’m glad I got out this afternoon I’d go same time tomorrow but I have an eye doctor appointment at 3 and after that won’t be able to wear my contacts for four hours or so. Ski some of you Saturday. Should be sloppy...2 points

The sunset from Blue this time of year is definitely quite nice. Sunset runs on sidewinder are madatory for this time of year.2 points

This is great!! I'm not sure exactly how I suffered, I even got my own cake. RTM 81s are excellent skis for riding the mountain.2 points

My dad started at 58 and skis the blues at Blue fine, and handles the blacks when conditions are good. You can make it happen. Once you are healed up, get out as much as you can.2 points

I won't be laughing because they'll probably fucking close on Saturday too. SMH with all of Blues inconsistencies this season. From no one knowing what time they close at night to this stuff. Anywho... I'll be there Saturday morning for a quick session. Can't hang too long as my kid has a softball game.2 points

Saturday night or Sunday at camelback for free hopefully. If not, Boulder usually doesn't open til 10 anyway and the rain should be almost done. Such is life. Leaving blue now2 points

The current Valley lodge is perfect, along with the parking lot. Watch what you wish for.2 points

I had a real nice morning up until my last lift ride where I was informed this would be my last blue run of the season. Kind of made the last run a bummer lol, but great conditions and a beautiful morning. Fun time riding with mute and root.1 point

Thanks for all the motivation guys. Really thank you... I'm really really looking forward for next season! I did not knew that Blue hat that adult clinic, and it is very good to know. I was planning to have at least like 3 consecutive days lessons, but this 6 days programs looks very interesting. Will look into it, and plan.1 point

I guess they figured they don't care if people get pissed off since they are selling the place at the end of the fiscal year.1 point

I’ve shared a hotel room with my Montana friend several times and he snores. You two are like old hippies that don’t look like hippies lol. Tarpenhead has a little bit of edge though due to his soul patch..aka flavor saver.1 point
