  1. Waiting at PHL airport now, plane boards around 6. Flying into Denver and then staying in Silverthorne. My buddy from Steamboat is meeting me tomorrow and staying a few days. Plan is Arapahoe basin tomorrow, Copper Friday, and Loveland Saturday. My Saturday night flight home got canceled so I'm staying in Denver Saturday night and heading home on a 9am flight Sunday. I'll try to post pics over the next few days and some reports...probably more pics when I get home as I tend to use my camera instead of the phone if I can

  2. @NazarethSkier Jay and I flew Newark to Vail on Saturday arriving about 40 minutes early. We got our car, and hit the road before our flight was even scheduled to arrive. It's a beautiful drive from EGE to Aspen through Glenwood Canyon. We checked in to the Grand Hyatt, got some Big Wrap for lunch, and was on the Gondola by 3pm. Did about 4 runs then it was time for the Ajax Tavern for truffle tries and champagne. I went out for an early run the following day, and then went for a nice breakfast at the Little Nell. We were going to ski Ajax that day in some beautiful sun. We met up with JohnnyStyle for some high speed runs on Ajax's finest groomers. Was a beautiful day to be out on the snow. Yesterday we skied Buttermilk. I love skiing there. It always brings a massive smile to my face. Between the lack of people, the amazing groomers, the rolling terrain, and the amazing views of pyramid peak. I also demo'd some new Kastle MX99s for the day. The first run or so I almost put them back in the car, but after I adjusted to the shorter radius, I was absolutely loving them. Jay tried them as well and instantly loved them. Today we skied Highlands. We went to a local breakfast place to fill up before a tiring day at Highlands as we were going to hike the bowl, in addition to the other leg burning terrain there. On the way back from breakfast Jay suggested we stop in this insanely priced ski shop to see if they had any MX99s for sale as the deal at the place where I had previously purchased Kastles and demo'd the MX99s was mediocre at best. I almost had to ask if the price was accurate that was listed on the ski. They had 2 pairs of 184cm's left, and we bought them both. Jay even bought bindings and had them mounted in 30 minutes so he could ski them today. They're insanely fun skis and will compliment (not replace) my MX98s very well. Highlands has a completely different vibe than every other Aspen resort. It's the JH of Aspen in terms of clientele and terrain. We skied a bunch of woods before finally hiking the bowl. About 1" of cream cheese fell last night really making the surface soft. Had some pizza and a pitcher of beer to finish off the day.

  9. Guess we’ll have to hit up the brewery on the way home. That’s a pretty good place. Haven’t been there in awhile.

  17. Not only that, but WFMZ 69 TV's local weather channel periodically shows the webcams as well, showing Vista full of snow.

  22. The one time I was in the camelback lot I had like 4 sips of a beer before security told me to throw it out so I pounded rest of beer on the walk to the garbage can. Maybe you can have beer wine and snacks if you have tinted windows and do it stealth like inside car. I remember the one time Root peed off the Stevenson lift at camelback. That was great.

  29. All of which, save death cookies, means spring skiing at its finest. It's just a different kind of stoke, spring skiing stoke! Embrace it and enjoy it as the last throes of winter and skiing for the season vanish into history. It's just too bad that Blue pulled the plug so early.

  30. Full disclosure, the guy that said that also was at Blue Saturday and said that their coverage was “very thin and mostly ice” and that you needed to pick your way around bare spots down the entire left side of Lazy Mile on rock skis. Just saying, I’m not sure he’s the best judge of quality/

  31. The feedback on Saltys April Fool's Joke from an Alpine Zone poster..."That was well done by someone that took their time researching and adding a good amount of facts." The feedback from PASR..."You wasted a lot of time for a stupid April Fools joke." Haha

  36. Thanks for starting the thread mixiplix. Closing day was a lot of fun and a nice long day for me at Blue the true in sub tropical weather. I arrived at the lower lot at 720am after a quick stop at Sheetz for some parking lot snacks. The temperature was in the lower 50s under mostly cloudy sky’s. In the house were Root, Niko, MBike Mike, NMSki and kids, PSUFly, Mixiplix, Bethlehem ford guy, Enjorales, Pops, Nastar Glenn, Justo, Rose, GSSucks, Indiggio, TheRealKT, Ty and many others. Was a leisurely start and didnt get first chair until about 8:03AM..started on razors which was pretty smooth but still pretty firm. Then sidewinder which had a few technical spots but was better than expected. Lazy mile was super nice and Main Street has nice grooming on the top half and a little tougher lower down. Apparently the bathroom on switchback has thin cover. After a solid hour and forty minutes of skiing I went back to the lot to remove my jacket and have some beer. Bethlehem ford Guy also had some fine meats cheese and crackers. The sun was shining bright and a nice parking lot scene. Closer to noon I returned to the mighty slopes of Blue the true for some more runs. Sidewinder, paradise were all good along with a lift beer. Then back to the lot again after five or six runs of corn snow and MBike Mike was grilling up some sausage. I ended up peacing our just before 2pm and already around 75 degrees out in the valley.

  37. He's a purple anthropomorphic T Rex from the Land make believe. Before becoming a singer / actor he was a bad ass bump skier in the mold of Johnny Moseley. After losing a few competitions he decided to leverage his other talents (singing, arm swaying and acting) into a potentially more lucrative career. He obtained an agent, hit the big time and the rest is history. In an effort to honor his skiing prowess, Blue decided to name a trail in his honor. Believe it or not he still skis recreationaly at his home mountain in the Land of Make Believe but given time constraints (as you could imagine) his skiing is limited. Post skiing pick of Barney below.
