Up at usual O’Dark Thirty, finished packing up car and departed for the first stop, Stratton. Arrived in the lot at 8:15 after an uneventful drive and a stop for gas. Temp was 30, but a howling wind made it feel a lot colder. Booted up and piked it to the base area to find the gondola not running. They claimed it was due to the wind, but we all knew better... Just going out to the 6-pack, the conditions were typical Blue-like. Refrozen melted cord attempted to make better by a skiff of grooming. Up the 6, various runs had glacial ice floes mixed in with the frozen cord. This was gonna be fun! Screamed down to the base to meet up with Slim and other Blue folk who were booting up in the lodge. It was still mid-winter weather and conditions we told them. Up the 6 and down to Ursa. Up Ursa In search of something softer than the bulletproof, wind-blown, filling-rattling crap we’ve been on. Decided to start from Bear Down, which was almost skiable, and work our way around. For some unknown reason, many of the trails were roped off, but had plenty of snow/coverage which was ticking us off. As expected, everything else was the same. There were some bumps under the gondola but were concrete and not fun at all. After lunch we were hoping the sun would help soften things up, but it just wasn’t strong enough to overcome the cold and wind. Some decided to take a foray into the Diamond in the Rough woods and found them to be pretty “skiable”, so we thought Moon Dance Woods would be similar, Not! Being more shaded, they were hard and slick, bailed. Some of the closed runs kept calling out to us to be skied, so we obliged. The snow was excellent and had to do it again later. It wasn’t the greatest conditions, but we had fun anyway.7 points

We skied Snowmass yesterday. Was pretty funky snow up high as it was just warm enough to turn the snow into glue. We opted to stick down low and ski the corn, which was smooth and soft. It was pretty flat light at times and overall a meh day. We skied for about 2.5 hours and called it quits. NSJay’s 4 yr old was going to take another lesson today, so we went back to buttermilk, which I wasn’t going to object to. The high today was in the mid 50s in the valley and 40s up high. I ripped a bunch of groomers off of Tiehack while NSJay and his wife cruises around. Buttermilk may be the smallest of the four mountains here, but it’s got awesome groomers, the best views, and no crowds. I skied until noon and then we picked up Jay’s kid after his lesson to take him on his first “big boy” run from the top. He skied Buttermilk top to bottom (about 1900 vert ft) without falling once.3 points

Yeah I am gonna try to fish again for a bit later. I'm a total gaper when it comes to trout fishing but it was awesome just being out on the river first thing. Dropped into the lower east wall just to the right of this picture. Not too hard core compared to the other hike to stuff but the snow was great.3 points

I'm a big Sixers fan and I hate to say it, but I don't think they have a prayer in the playoffs. Hope they surprise me.2 points

Waiting at PHL airport now, plane boards around 6. Flying into Denver and then staying in Silverthorne. My buddy from Steamboat is meeting me tomorrow and staying a few days. Plan is Arapahoe basin tomorrow, Copper Friday, and Loveland Saturday. My Saturday night flight home got canceled so I'm staying in Denver Saturday night and heading home on a 9am flight Sunday. I'll try to post pics over the next few days and some reports...probably more pics when I get home as I tend to use my camera instead of the phone if I can1 point

It might be new, I'm not sure. Copper was awesome they had pretty much everything. Nice groomers, open bowls, glades and trees. Highlight of the day was definitely the run off the cat in mostly untouched snow.1 point

Definitely, you figure they both must have been: In the club on the late night feeling right, Tryna spot something real nice. Looking for a little shorty he noticed that he could take home. She could be 18 with an attitude, Or 19 kinda snotty actin real rude. As long as she a thicky thicky girl you know that its on.1 point

There are people at work here that take off work every year on their birthday. I dont get it. I will be the first to line up for some birthday cake, but its just another day. Typically my family will get together to have dinner for someones birthday, but hardly ever on the actual day. sometimes 3 weeks later.1 point

Looks like you’re having a good time and nice weather...semi spring before it goes back to winter next week in the Colorado Rockies because they heard I’m gonna be there in ten days.1 point
