Day 2 - Sugarbush Made the drive up from Killington, but didn’t have to leave early since they didn’t open until 10am. Pulled into the lot to 30 degrees and 0 wind and just a whisp of clouds. Should be a far better day than yesterday, weather-wise. Took the Bravo quad up and made our 1st run down Murphy’s Glade which was mostly frozen cord with some glacial ice spots mixed in for fun, as they’d catch you by surprise, lurking beneath a thin layer of scraped off cord. Then down Lower Jester, which has a little better conditions. Looks like it was gonna be another day of searching for good snow. Rode up Heaven’s Gate and down Sigi’s which had some nice groomed snow up top but got progressively worse as we went down thru Lower. Still it was very fast and edgeable. Before braking for lunch, we decided to try the other side of the mountain, hoping the sun had softened the snow up over there. Took a ride up Gate House and found the snow to be a lot better than anything we were on earlier, so planned on coming back here after lunch. After a liquid lunch, we headed back to Gate House area and with our newly acquired courage, we decided to give an ugly looking Sunrise a whirl. Lots of bare spots, rocks and debris littered the run, but we had a good old time picking our way down. With Sunrise under our belt, we tried our had at Morningstar, right under the lift. A few rocks, bare spots and bumps made for the run of the day. Later in the day we had the great idea of going up Castlerock. A few brave souls were coming down Lift Line and the scraping sounds they were making turned us off that, so we headed down Castlerock run. Having had enough of those frozen bumps, we headed back for a couple more Sunrise runs and then out to the lot for beers. Later in the evening we headed over to Sushi Yoshi for the pre-mogul party which was more subdued than last year for some reason.5 points

Day 2 of my 3 day AIARE 1 course. Yesterday we spent mostly in class, but did a short tour of hidden valley. Not gonna log it in my stats because it was mostly off skis. Today was much more fun! Went on a ski tour starting at Bear Lake. Our destination was dream lake. It is a very scenic area, I have hiked it in both summer and winter. The winter trail is quite steep on skins and that is wheat we took. Our guide gave me a great tip of looking up (not down at skis) so you put more weight on your heels. Just doing that I was able to not slide backwards which I have done every time I have went out. Dream Lake This section is called Dragon’s tail couloir. I hav seen it referenced it a lot of the face book Bc groups. Guide said it is 50 degree slope. Not something I can see myself ever doing, but cool ot now see where it is. Waiting to drop. Was good to get out of my comfort zone. Steep, sloppy first drop in. Still getting used to my fat skis. Digging pits out test snowpack stability. Had one hiccup that I leaned my poles against my car, put my skis on top rack, opened back door to climb up. Made the mistake of leaving back door open, huge gust of wind came out of nowhere, slammed car door with pole inside. Surprisingly, the pole is fine, my car, not so much. Gonna have to fix that, bummer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk4 points

Yeah all the cat stuff is pretty steep but there are a few spots off lift 9 that are more mellow. There was one that was a steep chute/gully but no rocks to worry about...that was fun2 points

Call it a hunch. Just shared a run down Pocono Raceway with 3 whitetail deer, so that was cool2 points

Is that heated chair new? I don’t remember riding it last season. It’s cool riding the surface lifts and the old double in the back bowls at Copper. I’ve had a lot of fun at Copper mountain...I have 9 days total there. I’ve had a few fun boozy days on the mountain where I’ve stopped for drinks at one of the two mid mountain BBQs..very relaxing low key mountain and like you said huge. Still some runs I haven’t skied there. Here’s pictures from a spring day and a pow day last year at copper.2 points

It was a little bumpy Thursday. I guess it was not groomed, and froze up, so was not open in am. When I went down I did not have any trouble with it. Camelback in general is kinda ok. Free ticket, so can’t complain. Its definitely not as fun as Blue.1 point

Got a little later start than I wanted. Just got ticket and parked in the CBK lot. Definitely the most convenient to the snow1 point

It might be new, I'm not sure. Copper was awesome they had pretty much everything. Nice groomers, open bowls, glades and trees. Highlight of the day was definitely the run off the cat in mostly untouched snow.1 point

No I used to go to Stratton and I posted a TR a long long time ago. It’s a fun mountain. When I lived on the east coast it seemed huge. This is a good TR! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
