fuck I'm never going to get to sleep. Here is another great one. 1973. This is of the old switcher roundhouse for Lehigh Valley, located in Bethlehem at the eastern end of the yard. It has been demolished, but you can still see the foundation and tracks from each bay. My dad used to take me down here in the early 90s and it was still standing and in use.
I found a gem of a collection of Lehigh & New England railroad photos from the area. Here is a photo of one rolling down from Wind Gap, back towards Bath with the mountain in the background. This photo is taken just north of Summit Station. Jeff and I crossed this right-of-way on one of our runs this summer. The satellite image shows where the train is heading south towards the bottom of the photo with the ROW marked in yellow and the yellow circle showing where the other picture of @AtomicSkier was taken just after crossing. Cool shit. I like trains.... Choo Choo.
One of my favorites so far. This is the line that comes out of Bethlehem and weaves its way along the Monocacy Creek into Bath and Nazareth. The line is still in use today by Norfolk Southern. This photo is approaching the Union Boulevard crossing. The buildings in the back are no longer standing and senior housing is now in its place, but the ones on the hill are still on Main Street. notice the man standing on the 4th hopper car.
Another one on the same line, heading northeast towards Wind Gap as it approaches Bender's Junction. This is where the line split to head towards Danielsville, Berlinsville, and through Lehigh Gap. This image is from behind Evergreen Lake, off of Copella Rd.
Luv deliveries these days. Smuggs is reimbursing my season pass. MOAR!!! MOAR!!!!
