Little urban skiing today. I had read on FB that some people skied some of Sanitas. I took my dog up there for a hike first to check it out. Saw 4 people out and some tracks. So I took him home and got my skis. Strapped them to my pack u til I walked up to the start of the valley trail where it is essentially a fire rd. Skinned up that a bit and followed someone’s tracks up the hill. Snow was so deep, the deepest I have ever skinned, was challenging. It was only maybe 200’ of vert. Powder to my knees, managed to find one rock that almost knocked me down. Was very cautious after that. Not gonna count it as a ski day but pretty freaking fun! Possibly one of the most awful gas stations of all times. Super sketchy inside. Kinda stinky too.

I used to ski Montage on a Saturday or Sunday morning when they had the $30 half day ticket. They did away with it last year. They lost my and a lot of other peoples business when they did away with that. I'd see a lot of people with the half day tickets in the morning that, like me, aren't going to pay for a full day ticket there.

To be honest, I think you did! Couldn’t bring myself to drive with the hordes of people to Eldora today but knew I wanted to get out. It takes a lot of snow to fill in where I was skiing, so doubtful it will happen again soon.

A few years ago I was able to get $25 lift tickets through cbs local deals. It was worth driving the extra 30 minutes for that rate. The most I would be willing to pay at Montage is about $40. It is great for low crowds and a great place for the kids to learn but only if the price is right.

the convenience store in Hamlin closes at 10:30 pm. a convenience store that is not 24 hours still blows my mind to this day

There’s a car wash/laundromat in Oxford that has a pet washing room that’s been occupied every time I’ve gone there to wash my truck.
