It’s been pretty nice up here this afternoon. Lots of guns cranking and still snow on the ground off of trails which is nice for aesthetics. The sun is starting to go down so it’s getting cooler and harder to see. Conditions are still pretty great and the place is empty. Come around is closed to blow snow. ROTD is Lazy.

I quite skiing at blue so i'm selling all my skis. Figured someone who still skis there may be interested in a set of bump skis. Selling a set of 2015 168cm Dynastar Twister Mogul Ski with Look Pivot 14. Only mounted once - for a 25.5, will take up to a 26.5. Usual cosmetic scratches, but in decent shape since, per the scene at blue, they probably spent more time in the lot than on the mountain. $379.99. Also have 170cm Blizzard Latigo and 173 Atomic Panics both with PX14s and both mounted once if anyone wants to make an offer on those. Unfortunately, you can't buy an epic pass and bail on blue anymore, but you can buy these and still have an epic season. Tyler

My guess is they could open the valley this weekend, but they wont based on Saturdays forecast. Although, i thought i saw on FB the RidgeRacer addition at the Valley is just about ready to go, so who knows. At this point, i think they open the Valley next weekend. And thats cool, cause for me it would be just one more day in the upper lot. Saturday looks like ass, so really at this point just thinking i will day trip Sunday.

This is actually pretty funny, and pretty much backs up my thinking that the Vail EC resorts wont be getting the full "vail treatment:" They plan on spending 215 million in 2020 on some western resorts, and then at the very bottom says they plan on spending 15 million on improving "guest experience" at the 17 resorts they just acquired from Peak. Oh hello everyone...I'm taking roll call duties from GSS since he's on a report and roll call strike for the next 4 weeks. So who's gonna be at the bluest of mountains this upcoming weekend??? Could be wet on Saturday which could mean mad applesauce conditions after the first few runs. Sunday looks a bit better with cloudy skies forecasted and a high in the upper 30s. Could we see the valley for the first time this season???

Rode with tp4 this morning, lazy and upper main were le tits, lazy was slightly scraped, super grippy fast snow. Valley looks good to go snowwise but didn't look like they were pushing snow around like they would open it. If Saturday was good weather I'd have no doubts.

I originally thought they’d open the valley this Saturday but now with them likely being closed Saturday and maybe tomorrow as well I don’t see it happening on Sunday. It means a lot of extra employees to staff the valley lodge and the six pack.

The day started out normal Crested Butte cold at 0 degrees. Got to the mountain about 9:10, no rush since I knew it would not be busy. But I had no idea it would be SO empty!
