  2. Great morning! Looking forward to parking down at the bottom. Our row was freshly groomed and is waiting to get watered by us every weekend.

  3. I’m not retired either, just work 12 hour shifts, so I get days off during the week. There was some delicious food being grilled yesterday, but it was cold out in the lot. Bottom lodge tomorrow 🎉🍻🍷

  4. Spent a couple of hours parked on Applewood Dr just before it meets Haasadahl Rd in Orefield. Road was an ice rink. Was sliding around and inching along, realized there was no way I could successfully negotiate the downhill into a T intersection. Too slick to back up on the downhill. Parked and walked down to investigate conditions after seeing another vehicle stopped ahead. She had been sitting there for a couple hours according the older couple whose driveway she was partially blocking. On Haasadahl a pickup was off the road and a Cherokee stopped in the wrong lane. Apparently the Jeep had only been able to partially negotiate the corner on the downhill before being struck in the drivers door by the pickup traveling on Haasadahl. Another SUV came down the hill and went over the bank. One of South Whitehall’s finest arrived on scene and did not much for a couple hours. Started back up the hill as another car came down and went into the driveway across the street from the downhill, thankfully missing the SUV over the bank and half in the yard next to the driveway. Realized the next person that tried would not be so lucky, so walked back up and grabbed my cones, walked about 1/4 mile up the road and used them to block the road at a good driveway to turn around in. Came across a dude in a BMW about 100 ft uphill of my van who was also smart enough to stop. . Went back and told the cop I had blocked the road. He thanked me and said that he called for fire police to come do the same. They never did. A fire unit showed up and hung out. The SUV that was partially over the bank decided to keep going and was able to circle through the yard and make it back out. Car in the driveway couldn’t back up. Jeep eventually drove off. Tow truck showed up, hung out for a half hour. BMW guy and lady in vehicle partially blocking nice older couple’s driveway decided to walk to somewhere they could be picked up. Left their vehicles in the road. Began to resign myself to the fact that I was probably sleeping in my van, in the road. Salt truck showed up and laid down a triple layer of salt for the tow truck to get traction to pull the pickup out. Went back and and sat in my van as the wind picked up. After about 1/2 an hour noticed that it was getting darker downhill. Checked and the fire unit was gone, tow truck was gone, stuck vehicles extricated and cop was leaving. Left. Decided to give it a go, walked back to retrieve my cones (hope no one else went off the road there or hit the two abandoned cars) and started inching down. Dropped drivers tires off the road onto the grass and leaves and it did a nice job of controlling my descent. Bank on that side so wasn’t worried about losing it. Made it down and onto the cross street and finally got home at about 830. TL:DR - Shit was whack and people are crazy.

  5. 12/19/2019 ... PM edition ...conditions were *way* better then I expected. MBike and I skied a bunch of runs on empty trails. From the get go Main St was that perfect scraped off fast grippy snow that I can put the hammer down on and crank turns. Lazy was slightly sugary, but the last little pitch before the right hander was also 10/10 (as was the turn). Best conditions I've skied all year for sure.

  6. Hey All, I’m posting this report from the lot at Blue. I arrived at the upper lot around 830am and it was 13 degrees wirh moderate winds and sunshine. Last day to park at the upper lodge. In the house were BenM, Toast, Ryan, Mute, TP4, Johnny Law, ZZSlope, Hayata along with some college kids, NY Asians and OK boomers. BenM and I had the first civilian Main Street chair and the snow on midway and lower Main Street was great newly flown pixie dust. Lazy mile and upper Main Street were also really nice and smooth..come around had nice cord and some new features including a disco box and stairset to add to the rest of the bonkyard. As the morning progresses Lazy became a sugar factory and Main Street got a little cookied up...I skied till 11 and currently finishing up beer number one a long trail double IPA green mountain haze and thinking about another before I go back to the A for lunch and a nap. 13. The sun poked out this afternoon between snow squalls and made the backyard and field look pretty cool covered in Monday’s ice. I always enjoy things being white in the winter instead of brown and dead.

  14. Hey all. Taking roll call duties for Doug for the second of 4 weeks here due to his current roll call boycott. So with that said who's gonna be at Blue the true this weekend...where the valley will be open and we'll be riding the poconos coldest six pack for the first time this season? Saturday will be a cold one so be sure to wear those fa la la la. La la la. La la layers. Sunday looking perfect right now with bright sunshine and a high of around 40.

  18. Elk was in great shape today. True packed powder with only a few marbles on Tunk. They opened Delaware today and it was exceptional... That makes 4 open from the top. I expect them to open Slalom tomorrow, as they were grooming it today. They are now concentrating on getting the quad side open and should have open pretty soon. Elk can make snow and the snow crews do a fantastic job.... Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  23. I'll be swinging through saturday on my way up to NEPA. My cousin is coming up from Florida and wants to hit the snow so it will be a toss up as to where we go on Sunday and/or Monday and/or Tuesday but he's staying the early part of the week with his In-Laws up near Elk so that might be on tap. Kind of depends who has the best conditions but I would feel bad making him drive past Elk, Montage, Camelback (where his parents live 2 miles away) and JFBB to get down to Blue the True.

  27. About time we had some cold temperatures. We needed to get out of that torrential rain cycle.

  28. Wow. On my almost 2 hour ride home from Blue thought maybe next time try the turnpike. Glad I didn’t. I don’t get why, when they make a big deal out of a storm that’s supposedly on its way, they are salting the roads, putting brine down. Then we get some slippery roads, and there’s not a salt truck to be found. WTF?
