Hey All, I’m back from a fun morning session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot before 720am and it was in the 40s with overcast with fog on the upper mountain. In the house were JFDan, Toast, BenM, MBike Mike, Indiggio, Keith, Dana and many more. First run was challenge which had poor grooming was a little rolly polly..Main Street was the same and dog on the upper 1/3 made visibility difficult. Toast said NMDW was good so skied that and that was the run of the day..a real technical gem..was half with and had smooth hero snow..lazy mile was ok until the big right hander..and the falls isn’t the same with no lip. Skied a quick 8 runs had my fill like Michelson then had a quick two perpetual win lower lot, an Xmas cookie and peanut cluster thanks to JFDan was back on the road before 10. Nice quick session and tomorrow should be fun with better weather and more PASRs. JADIP!!3 points

What some may say is odd, we call this normal for Blue Mountain. Wait......is that Santa???? So, conditions were maybe not quite as good as days past, the days of Main Street being a carpet ride are gone for a while i think, but overall not a bad day to be out. Upper Main skied well, but lower was a bit lumpy. Biggest issue today was the low vis at the top. Snow on NMDW was really pretty good, but narrow, made the second turn kind of interesting. FYI, ski from the lift to Razors, then hang a right to get on NM. The area in between Paradise and NM isnt quite ready for skiing. Midway was pretty nice, couldnt see shit on Come Around, and Lazy was nice if you took the turn wide. I didnt ski Paradise, but was told i wasnt missing anything. I didnt see what Indiggio's bumps looked like, and most likely, neither did anyone else. Expect major stupidity on the trails tomorrow.2 points

Foggy and warm today. Skiing was pretty good though. Crowds started building up around eleven, and with A lift still closed today I packed it in. A few rain sprinkles, but not too bad.2 points

Nice night. Not to crowded, comfortable temps. Razors is a bit choppy with cookies but it's open so all good. Challenge is light years better... Slick in the middle but right hand side is nice. The sweet smell of the waffle haus is permeating the valley keeping the stoke high. Great night sesh thus far.2 points

Suddenly not feeling well tonight so tomorrow will be up in the air until the alarm goes off. Sunday same, and weather dependent. Due to that, (and also main fridge does last night) not planning to grill this weekend.1 point

A far as the mountain is concerned, I’d recommend Jack Frost. It is more manageable with a lot better snow conditions. Haven’t had any problems with the instructors. They also have the trail difficulty segregated across the mountain, so the left side are the easy slopes and the right side is the difficult slopes. So beginners don’t get run over by expert skiers wanting to go fast. Also the slopes are pretty much top to bottom with no crossovers or connecting slopes with blacks crossing greens. The higher cost of a larger mountain is not worth it for beginners. I’d try to get there early on the weekends. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro1 point

Will you be taking a lesson? If so, don't worry about crowds, you'll get to cut the lines. For your first day ever, you probably don't need much besides a good rental/lesson center, and some nice mellow trails to learn on. My kids did a snowboarding lesson at blue 5-6 years ago, and the staff seemed really nice. Jack Frost is also a super friendly place, with plenty of mellow skiing. I don't know anything about Mt. Peter. If drive time is the same, you can't go wrong with JF or Blue. JF is a little more scenic IMO.... Have fun!1 point

Saturday is out, family is gathering for Christmas. I hoping Sunday morning is dry and bad weather forecast keeps crowds to minimum.1 point

Yeah, nobody was anticipating perfection at all, with a new groomer(s) making them with little/no prior experience. Hopefully they'll be open to suggestions on how to improve them.1 point

I saw someone filming right as we were walking off and I also saw a News 10 truck leaving the lot. They were also grooming NM/DW all day, so that will be opening soon as well.1 point

Nice Razors and Challenge open! Neither were when I was there Friday. I’m a little out of sorts, got the short end of the stick at work. So worked A LOT the past week. Including weekend, Christmas Eve and Christmas. Hubby said I need to go skiing tomorrow. Think he may be trying to get rid of me. 😂.1 point

I guess if you are going to learn how to seed them you gotta start somewhere......I usually say experience is the best teacher, but you do need someone to show you the way at the beginning.. Hopefully they only get better as time goes on....1 point

Awesome to see them trying to get bumps for the bumpers. Be patient young grasshoppers.1 point

Wow! Was so excited to see from the lower parking lot that Blue had seeded bumps on Main Street, but that excitement was short-lived after seeing them up close and personal. The operative word is “seed”, as moguls will grow on their own. They don’t need to be dug in! For some reason the bumps are at least twice as wide as they need to be meaning that all of Barney’s is WAY too wide, stretching halfway across Main Street. All of Barney’s 5 lanes could be cut in half. Like @Johnny Law said in the lot: A For effort, D for execution. The groomer that set them needs just a bit of insight on how to seed bumps. Excitement from the valley lot! Uh oh! Yikes!! Cliff jumping anyone? Yuge!!1 point
