Day 5: 9 o’clock start. No visibility. K did a great job recovering. Conditions were hard pack to soft on trails where snowmaking happened yesterday. No bumps or trees though. Mountain ambassador said K went from 130+ trails to ~75 from this last thaw/rain. Ouch! Bear mountain skied best but notable call outs were East falls and mouse trap.was a fun day but beginning to feel like Charlie Brown sitting out in the pumpkin patch waiting for the great pumpkin to return. Come on winter! Snowdon 6 opening bell. It’s there somewhere... Winter(ish) returns This would pair so well with my crocs:7 points

And Jackson Hole, Crested Butte, Steamboat, Powder Mt, Snowbird, Snowbasin, Brighton, and somewhere the fuck in Switzerland, blows VT away, especially the 2 Mountains you have a pass to, (they were voted by Ski mag to be the 2 biggest shitshows for MLK Weekend, and have the least tasty cocoa) Again, personally, im not sure if skiing Okemo and Mt Snow, beats PA, with the travel associated with it. Especially after the loss the East coast suffered over the past week. Its gonna take a little while to right the ship anywhere on the EC. Travel up a little further North, and you will get to something way better, and maybe worth all the driving around. I'm not hating on Okemo either, my parents had a slopeside condo there for years. In fact, they had a townhouse there too. Both slopeside at Okemo, in VT. The one place, you could ski to/from the door. It was right off the Satchem Trail, In Vermont, at Okemo. I think i skied Okemo 3 times maybe. I did stay at Slopeside Okemo once and drive to Stowe and Sugarbush, in Vermont, to ski New England powder. Okemo is a good mountain for your kids to ski at, its not a super challenging place. Did i mention Vermont, Okemo, and Slopeside enough? i hope so, i was laying it on pretty thick.2 points

Was in the keys last week. Got to the Miami airport Saturday night ready to change in to long pants and shorts for the flight home. Took a look at the forecast back in Philly and decided to just stay in a tee shirt, shorts and sandals lol. Mid January [emoji2957]2 points

I like to do nice GS carved turns on the flats using the speed built up off the head walls also. At its best, challenge glade is by far the best section of Jack Frost IMHO. You can ski among the trees from the edge of the trail pretty far back to the right, all the way down to the right of the race shack and out just before the east mountain lift. And about halfway down, there is a crossover going under the east mountain chair and out onto the run out from Rivershot, but that needs a couple of feet of snow. There is an old pipeline cleared path a ways in to the right that doesn’t need as much cover to make it runnable, but it is kind of narrow. Some people were on it last week, but I suspect the few inches of snow we had just hid the rocks. But if there is enough snow, the whole area from the trail edge to that path and beyond is skiable. Between the bumps on the head walls and weaving in and out of the trees on the flats you can get the adrenaline going pretty good.2 points

Out for a couple of hours before the rain. Actually had some sun first thing, then the clouds rolled in and it got foggy around 1130. They have the connector from East Mountain to challenge open, and without a headwind it was a lot easier skiing over today. All the slopes were in OK sugar snow shape, but there are some brown spots starting to show. The top started getting a little soft mid morning. Very quiet today, the biggest group was the Tuesday ladies class. Stopped on the way back and got my fresh roasted coffee beans and some supermarket sushi.1 point

Sanibel is cool, although probably crowded this time of year. I fished the Sanibel Causeway every day when I was in Fort Myers in October. Take a ride through Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge if you haven't already. I think it's like $ 5 per car, and good for the entire day if you want to come back. Or you can bike through it, not sure how much that costs1 point

Day 4 Arrived at snowdon lift at ~9:30 (pro tip, park in corner next to lift. Easy access to lift and car for lunch). Guns blasting all over mountain. 25F and receding winds. Ice baby ice. Wow! Swept mountain from snowdon to bear and back. Bear ok. Outer limits and wildfire closed so no bumps. Some guns blowing wet so almost went over the handle bars a few times. By end of day mousetrap-down was skiing grate because guns blowing good product. Got word two bumper friends joining me Wednesday. [emoji41] oh yeah, I’m talking to my skis now so I got that going for me... Couple of hero to zero pics1 point
