Short hike before we left Crested Butte this morning. As soon as I stepped off the packed down trail to take a picture I sank. Weather supposed to be pretty bad tomorrow. Lots of wind with the snow so not sure what our day looking like. Ice climbing Saturday. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk4 points

Unfortunately the only thing complaining does is appease the other voice in my head...2 points

I can! There have been other years with weather that was just as bad or worse and the grooming was nowhere near as bad as it's been this year.2 points

This is kind of an example of the dumb stuff you should just keep to yourself.2 points

Running a ski business in our climate would put me on pills. Theres gotta be a point where you just say, enough is enough. Maybe its close to that time. I mean, look at the grooming of late. It hasnt been spectacular, and i wonder if it will get better. Does anybody working there actually care about the end product they put out? I will give them props for making snow at the very first opportunity they can, and what they have been able to do in between winter/summer/winter/summer so far this season. Historically the day after some type of snow has been great. We shall see.2 points

I don't think it would be THAT bad, but it would probably increase a bit. I wouldn't be opposed if it was bought by a company on any of the multi-pass options. It will eventually happen unless something drastic changes for Barb. But realistically, it can't be fun owning and operating a ski area in PA with the way the weather has been changing over the years.2 points

Bummer but you will still have fun at either of those places... especially with a speed run down regulator Johnson.2 points

I actually don’t want some big corporation buying Blue. Look at JF/BB. Are there any improvements there? And guaranteed, no more tailgating, increased season pass cost. Just not wort it in my opinion.2 points

It was the Thursday morning crowds I remember today, empty. Snow was good but coverage is really thin in spots, especially upper main. They shut down the 6 pack around 1015 and had everyone good to the quad. Lower park and Central Park were also opened for the season today.1 point

The groomers go real fast and don’t make enough passes. The elimination of twice daily grooming in 2007 was also a big loss. That was grate even if you didn’t get fresh cord for night session it kept things smoother.1 point

Look. I love blue but let's be honest. When has their grooming ever been "good". Are there good days? Sure. But overall Blue mountain hasn't necessarily been synonymous with good grooming.1 point

The grooming at Blue has been the worst in PA for years. They never let the snowmaking whales drain before pushing them out. That's what creates all of the cookies.1 point

Was the other way round for me. I just pointed them on the ice sheet, since I knew I could slow on the flat. I was truly scared on Hoth and could have used a Truly hard seltzer after that adventure.1 point

I got out on the snow around 930 this am. Was I surprised bulletproof cord. Quickly softened up, though, and conditions were very nice. Except for Razors, which I didn’t attempt. Top was full of craters, frozen bumps, and some kind of crevice going down the middle. Weird, because it was ROTD Tuesday. Nice weather for tailgating, as well. I’ll be back Friday.1 point

Arrived at 4:45 and it was 44° at the top. Surprisingly not as busy in the top lodge as I thought it would be. Was expecting some ski clubs but they must all be at the Valley Lodge. Skiing with Mrs. Mute so it was down Burma first and then lapping lazy and Paradise. Snow is sugar but minimal push piles. Temperatures mild and crowds light. Good times. Grabbing a bite at Slope Side and then heading back out. Already pulled my pass out so I don’t forget that 10% discount.1 point

Some dirt and bare spots here and there but it doesn't appear to have deteriorated to much since Sunday. Pleasantly surprised.1 point

now that im old and over the hill, crowds at the mountain make me angrier than they used to. i think its cause the past 2 thursday mornings have left me disappointed with so many people there. but as you said, blue needs all the money they can get so ill just suck it up1 point

This is the big question. I have no plans on Sat that cant be rearranged to make for the best skiing. Maybe a morning session, refreshments, ski, lunch, ski, refreshments, who knows really at this point. Maybe make a trip to home depot and bed bath beyond.....not sure if we would have time. This is where NMSKI's camper thing would come in handy, albeit end up smelling like farts in the end. I'm not sold on any forecast at this point, and based on prior "winter" events this season, the best forecast will be the one made Saturday morning.1 point
