  1. Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. In the house were Johnny Law, JFDan, NMSki, Mute, Ryan, Enjorales cousin, Bethlehem Ford Guy, GahSkier George, Indiggio, Mixilplix, BenM MBike Mike, Slim, Justo, Rose and many others. The temperature was in the upper teens under overcast sky’s with light winds. Opening bell was a mellow affair with the usual suspects ready for fresh cord. My first two runs were on challenge and it was a freaking carpet. I even got some float after the second headwall. The falls and homestretch were immaculate. Main Street was super rough, lazy mile was crazy mile and also rough..I didn’t do nightmare dreamweaver despite people saying it was good. Midway through as actually pretty nice..high five for stoke. Snowmaking cannons were firing across the mountain from switchback to tubing and random places...liftlines were no big dealio with both the six pack and quad running... fun parking lot today with cheeseballs eating cheeseballs..snow falling fa lalalala I think this new snow combined with the old snow and snowmaking will groom out well and as long as it stays cold conditions should be alright. This mornings conditIons were rough with a little bit of nice on challenge but the forecast is grate.

  2. This year we opted for a private guide and arrived in Ouray a week before the Ice Festival. Kind of nice how quiet it was. Starting our hike in. Our climbing area. My friend Shannon always kills it. My friend Natalie is an incredibly fast climber. Here is me totally stressed that I can hardly keep up with her pace belaying her. The climb out, always feel steep. 4. Hillcrest lodge (stupid name - it’s at the bottom of a hill) is on the K access rd and it’s cheap too. Problem is it’s cheap so if hanky panky going on down the hall you hear it. My go-to, especially for solo travel is Turn of River Lodge (more on this later). Not on k access rd but 1 m from sky ship Gondi on Rt 4. Not my fav starting point as it takes 20 min to ski after loading though. My pro tip is park at corner of lot trail access next to snowdon bubble chair. Super short and easy access and car is right there for lunch and tinnies. Other convenient start is bear but car is a bit farther away. If staying at ToR two great breakfast spots, First is about 0.2m down Rt 4 toward k access rd on your right. Dream makers bakery. A little $$ for breakfast Sammy (~$8) but crazy good farm-to-table Vt goodness. Problem is their midweek hrs are no good. The second option is Water wheel trading post. Mom/pop operation and will have half dozen local pick up trucks parked in front scoring breakfast. Cheap homemade breakfast sammy’s and is about 0.8m on left Rt 4 heading toward k access rd from ToR. Last suggestion is sun up bakery on k access rd on right just before hitting rams head area. ToR is a throwback. Got a huge common area with huge fireplace, tv (folks play jeopardy every night - I suck at it but blame it on the boxed wine) and access to full kitchen so that’s where I ate dinner almost every night. Lot of regulars there (ski instructors, mountain ambassadors patrollers) but always welcoming. Last trip I went with 2 other guys who never been there and they loved it. Bunks downstairs is $40/night (separate woman’s and men’s dorms). Private rooms available upstairs with shared or private baths. Another ski option to consider is Pico if they got most of their terrain open. Cheaper than K and worth a day if you’re in the mood. Good luck

  5. The 6 was not running today. I figured they didn’t want to run it because of high winds. Around 330 lines became a little too long for me, so I left. But I ski mid week, so any line is too long.

  6. Holy cow, another trip to the Skiers Paradise! A place with endless groomers and highest number of sunny days in Alps. A rough start with crazy outbound weather with snow peaking right around the departure time. When it hit, it hit hard, and I even started looking at rail options, but then miraculously the snow took a break, and I zipped to EWR in no time at all. Stupid United flight this time. Far from the luxury of Emirates, longer en route, but timely departure and free booze in the United Club. The only thing left before departure is deicing. Whoo-hoo, looking at the webcams and forecast, it's gonna be truly epic. Lots of sunny days has its unfortunate side effect on snow quality or even availability, plus this time I'm flying earlier than ideal, but the storm that drowned Venice in December dumped enough in the mountains to last till now.

  7. The snow today was hilariously rough lol nmdw I'm not sure where else I've ever seen something like that before. First two runs on challenge were a perfect carpet too lol Hopefully this precip will at least smooth things out, surface could be firm

  8. PM session sounds better than am other than missing hanging with you fools. Variable conditions with A LOT Of bad skiers out there. So many it never made fun snow piles until about 4-4:30, until then it scrappy/ nice / scrappy. Highlight was 2 runs after they Dropped the rope on razors and late afternoon skiers left on NMDW. Left around 4:45 sleet down low and a lil snow in top. If it doesn’t turn to all rain overnight should be good tomorrow as long as the groomers don’t fuck it up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. I am going to start a GoFundMe page so they can send the groomers somewhere to learn how to do it. Holy fuck do they need help in that department. Their busiest day to date, and this is the best they could do. Cookies are one thing, but if they could just groom the trails flat, it would be such a huge improvement. Their FB page already has some comments about the grooming being less than stellar. I went into today thinking i would stick around to ski the second session in the snow, but i felt like even fresh snow couldnt fix things today. Never a bad day in the parking lot though. See you weirdos tomorrow for round 2.

  12. Trip report for today. Only the quad running, blowing on NM to DW, Upper Main, Switchback. The snow wasn’t great, but not horrible. Lazy greatly improved since Wednesday, and if I can ski down Challenge and Razors full of marbles, it improves my confidence.
