I'm beyond tired... All's well, the weather is awesome, snow is terrific, so firm and supporting, yet no ice, and they do their nightly grooming for A+. The plan for this trip was to visit two new isolated areas where I've never been to before. One is Hidden Value, which everyone says is the prettiest place in Dolomites, and the other - Kronplatz, which is just an area that I've heard of a lot but never got to visit. It may be a good base for an approach from Austria, plus there's a ski train going to yet another area... But anyway, for today I just wanted to take it slow, refresh the map in my mind and remember the connecting lifts. It went well. I even came across a leaf zone that I didn't get a chance to see before, and it turned out to be a great place to spend a couple of hours at. A collection of blue, red and black trails, discovered a restaurant on top, right around lunch time, not too many people and snow holding well throughout the day. My biggest gripe is the stupid navigation app that they've "upgraded" since last year. Now the 3D map is a joke, and even though there's a way to browse trails and lifts offline, it can't build point A to point B routes without service as before. On top of it, it lies and made me walk sloped streets of Canazei for half a kilometer in ski boots and with skis on the shoulder. Right when I was in a hurry to get back to home area before the closing time.12 points

Excellent conditions this morning. A carpet for at least the first 45 minutes...all trails good. Switch was a bit sketchy up top but nothing crazy. Props to the groomers...they turned it around quick.8 points

Technically you can’t get jet lag if you remain within the same time zone. But who knows, may be one of his superpowers3 points

Hit the slopes right at eight and skied to 1030 when it started the crowd up. Personally I liked Challenge - they evened out the crossover a little bit so you could maintain some speed right to the challenge trail and it was pretty deserted. But Rivershot and Floyd’s were in good shape also. It was a real pretty scene, with sunshine coming through the trees behind me, but I just missed it by a few seconds when the clouds came in. The clouds cleared up, and it was sunny by the time I left. Nice skiing in the sunshine for a change. Rumor has it they found a crack in a chair on the Thunderbolt lift, and upon inspection they found a bunch of more chairs cracked. They may be looking at replacing all the chairs.2 points

Good day. 40 degrees in Philly. Started snowing on the way up the turnpike as I got up into the Poconos. Snowed all morning then on and off snow and some breaks of sun starting around noon. Groomers were fun, soft snow but some ice scraped off here and there on the steeper bits. No woods in play. Blow over from the guns mostly melted out so runs like Happyland were bony. You could bag a couple turns here and there but not top to bottom. They only probably picked up about 4 inches. But it looked nice and improved conditions on the groomers. Trees were all rimed up too which looked cool. Very crowded with the A lift down.2 points

Our ice climbing guide filled us in about a good ski tour off red mountain pass. She said it was about a 45 min skin in so we thought it was relatively short. She must be super human because by the time we reached the top it was just under 2.5 miles and about 1600’ elevation gain. Gorgeous weather, but cold. Will let the pictures speak for themselves. This is the area people lap, one was enough for us today. Really nice snow conditions. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point

I wrongly assumed it wouldn't be that busy today since it wasn't busy at all last year on MLK Day. But last year the temps were around zero Fahrenheit. I recall running Razor's over and over and hardly waiting at the lift.1 point

Lol I’m n that picture. Came from lunch to that mess. Was with my buddy and his daughter so no pass holder line. He bailed to use the bathroom and took the shuttle to the top and beat us. Morning was a blast for a few hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro1 point

30-50 years. Most of the original late 80s/early 90s detachable across ski country have been replaced or refurbished while a few older fixed grip chairlifts are still in existence. The Pali chair at Abasin is being replaced next year and that was installed in 1978. The oldest lift I can think of off hand is the single chair at mad river glen which has been in operation since 1948 but had a full restoration several ears back.1 point

This year we opted for a private guide and arrived in Ouray a week before the Ice Festival. Kind of nice how quiet it was. Starting our hike in. Our climbing area. My friend Shannon always kills it. My friend Natalie is an incredibly fast climber. Here is me totally stressed that I can hardly keep up with her pace belaying her. The climb out, always feel steep. Looking forward to riding a new setup at Boulder, hopefully with fun spring conditions this weekend. Let’s go! From about a few weeks ago...1 point

The east mt lifts have always suffered what seems to be the same illness as the 6 at Blue. Long time ago a bunch of us not too far up where told to jump off of it.0 points
