  1. January 28th, 2020 Day 1 of 7 Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Day one of trip #17 here. We left for the mountain at 720am and there were still a few ultra fine flakes trickling down...parked in about row 6 or 7 of the ranch lot took the parking shuttle bus motored up to the Bridger Gondola and about 12th in line. Temperatures were in the upper 20s at the base and upper teens up high and the sun came out. Was on somewhere around 8th civilian gondola which yielded some nice untracked on amphitheater down to thunder followed by left side of grabs for a few photos then up sublette where I did my favorite run today ten sleep to the cirque with mute while atomic Jeff hiked the headwall. Wow was the cirque good and deep solid foot of fresh medium density which provided some cushion for the pushing. There was float there were hoots and hollers it was untracked. Met back up with Atomic Jeff line for thunder was full corral so did marmot and a woods run and lots of untracked then line for thunder not so bad up thunder down left side of grand in chowder up sublette Atomic Jeff wanted another headwall lap and me and Mute skies a Hoback run which was mostly chowder some sticky icky lower down took union pass to base and then met up with Atomic Jeff again did teewinot to apres vous had a few fresh turns up high mostly snow changing from winter to spring. Had my fill at this point and mute did two more runs and met us at the mangy moose where we feasted in truffle fries chips salsa guac pizza pie and chicken Sammie’s...had two waitresses both 🔥 and they got a 25% tip..was a good day...top 5 for depth and visibility combination.

  2. Two headwall hikes today and I'm beat. Both were at a feverish pace to not make @mute1080 and @GrilledSteezeSandwich wait for me. Both were 18" over the head bottomless turns. The 2nd one was around 11:30am and the entire face was untracked. The first run was my 2nd best run at JH ever. I forgot my new Mac laptop doesn't have an SD card slot reader, so the Canon camera that I give Doug to shoot with has photos of my from earlier (not the Headwall) that I can't transfer off. Waiting to start.... The silliness at the start... Top of the Headwall first run. Totally untracked 18" of over the head turns ahead of me... Was too warm (and I was too warm) for the snow to really stick to my beard, but you can see the snow on my googles to prove the face shots. I'm standing still, with fat skis on...and it's up to my knees....on the second headwall run. This was 11:30am on my 2nd headwall run of the day. All easily accessible with a 10-15 minute hike. Because I'm having issues getting stuff off of my Canon, here is a preview of a shot GSS took of me off of Grand early. The boys at Mangy....

  7. Oh hello everybody. Its that time of the week again to start preparing for the weekend of skiing. Blue the True looks to be the place to be if you aren't on a ski trip somewhere. Potential for some fluffy snow showers on Saturday morning or some moist rain showers. They've been blowing snow and will have more opportunities this week, so hopefully conditions are good! Word on the slopes is they are building bumps especially for @indiggio I'll be there Saturday, but have plans for Sunday so can't make it. Who else will be in da house?

  8. Conditions were pretty good today. Blowing on Razors, NMDW. The bumps were icy. Enjoyed the morning but I didn’t see any other PASRs around. It was nice to have the sun out all morning ☀️

  11. Stopped at Rek-Lis a few years ago on the way back from Bretton Woods on a weekday. The brewery at that time was a small shed in their back yard. One of my friends called to see if they were open and the owner said, "If you stop by I'll open." Their new place is cool and their beer is good. The Woodstock Inn has a nice smaller bar down a short hallway off to the side near the middle of the building. You can usually get a seat there when the place is crowded.

  16. 1/28/20 Woke up to a cloudy sky with flurries still falling. Made way over to the main resort area, which was virtually empty for a Tuesday. Pretty much all of Lincoln is pretty devoid of traffic during the week, but with all the condos & townhouses around here, I think this place is just a mad house in the weekends. Pulled into the lot and to our surprise, there’s a real steam train that shuttles people between bases, cool! The sound of the steam whistle echoes throughout the entire valley when it gets underway. After booting up, made my way over to the Kancamagus lift, looking forward to seeing the 8-pack, but nope, it’s still just a quad. Looking at the sign says “Coming December 2020”, bummer. Oh well... It was snowing pretty good up top and there was a couple of inches everywhere and the snow beneath was grippy, as it was kinda warmish and damp. Having a bum knee/leg, I took it easy, but still tried some blacks, all of which are groomed to perfection and the skiff of snow made them even better. I ran through all the pods and couldn’t find nary a bump line anywhere. I also took a run through the Loon Mountain Park that has some pretty wicked booters and landings. The leg was giving me grief, so headed down to catch up with the wife. We took the steam train down to the gondola station and hit the Paul Bunyan bar for a beer and to check the place out. It was quaint, but kinda weak in comparison to other apres bars. Headed back to the lodge to hit the hot tub. Afterwards we hit the shops in town and then to the Woodstock Station Inn & Brewery. This is a cool place, but a little on the pricy side. Had a couple IPAs, Cajun fried pickles and a Cuban wrap sandwich, all of which were very good. 17. Finally settled into the 49er about 14 hours after I woke up. Yes I woke up at 330am and just stayed up...got a last SUJO in..shit showered and shaved and left for Newark at 645am. Arrived at Newark airport at 815 parked at the parking spot met Atomic Jeff..checked in luggage..went through the TSA precheck to the lounge then a knockoff Hudson news for pretzels and bottle of water. Flight left early and arrived early..uneventful except for the obnoxious kid with super passive parents in front of me. Its always a nice feeling walking off the plane and feeling that Rocky Mountain high cough cough. Got baggage and got a sweet rental car..a top of the line Toyota 4Runner has everything power windows, fold down seats even a plug to charge phone. Picked up Mute in town and he was kind enough to bring us road sodas. Drove to Teton village to get our passes as tomorrow AM ticket office opens at 8am and don’t wanna deal with that tomorrow because guess what boys and girls..it’s gonna be a powder day...they say don’t go chasing waterfalls but the atmospheric river is streaming across Idaho..who da Hoe..slamming into the Tetons and dropping prodigious amounts of snow on the ski slopes. Well gotta get some ice for my jack and coke and I got sausages to suck down in Jeff’s room. JADIJH

  18. I guess now is as good of a time as any to start this years Jackson hole report. I’m currently about a half hour into my flight to JH my 17th trip there. I skied JH in 2002 and 2005-this season every year. Jackson hole is a great place to ski because it’s steep, the town has everything and the village is nice as well...it snows a lot and also sunny. Mute and Ryan are currently on the flight from Chicago to JH and me and Atomic Jeff are on the Newark to JH flight. JFDan and NMSki come out in two days. Looks like a pow day for tomorrow with 4-10” forecast in the next 24 hours. Over 300” of snow so far this season and upper mountain base depths over 80”....should be good..Stay tuned to this thread for updates..as Mrs. snowbunski says,”Aholes in JHole”

  19. 1/27/20 It’s the wife’s birthday month <sigh> and she decided she wanted to see NH, so with Loon on the Ikon pass, the destination was set! Woke up at usual 0’dark thirty, had some breakfast, packed the car and departed about 6:00am. Leisurely and uneventful drive up to NH. Decided to drive up to Wildcat to see if we could get a view of Mt. Washington, but it was socked in, so just decided to head to the studio AirBnB at The Lodge. I think it may be smaller than GSS’ “house”! Pretty much the entire ride down from Wildcat to Lincoln flurries were falling, so conditions were looking good for tomorrow. Hopefully the knee/leg will hold up! The wife had found Rek-Lis brewing up in Bethlehem (yes they pronounce every syllable), so we made our way up in the flurries. We ventured up the Notch and then over hill and Dale and arrived at the brewery. Not a big place and quite crowded for a snowy Monday night. Mondays have a $10 beer & pizza deal, so we got that and an order of poutine, having two Wik-id IPAs. IPAs were good as was the pizza and the poutine was great. Also had their Gentleman’s stout and wife had a boozy Stuff of Kings Belgian Strong Ale. All in all, worth the drive. Mt. Washington from Wildcat The Lodge at Loon Studio room Wik-id IPA at Rek-Lis Pizza and poutine

  24. Nightweavwr was closed when Pops and I arrived last nigh, they started blasting it about 7:45. Scattered other guns were on at the same time as well, and right before we quit noticed from the double that most of the guns on Switchback were on but didn’t ski over to see if they had closed it. Widowmaker was thigh deep.

  46. True. I met some people in a parking lot at Blue a couple weeks ago. I grew up skiing and teaching kids at BB ski school. Spent 10 years out west skiing in CO, UT, and California. May not be the fastest skier but I know about the best breakfast burritos out west.
