Yep, all of the good scenery was done in the daylight. Bridger-teton national forest is absolutely beautiful. Afton wyoming gets a shit ton of snow too, like holy shit amount of snow. it was a good change of scenery to see a bit more of the west.10 points

Skied whiteface last weekend for the first time - super cool east coast mountain. Great snow coverage. Mountain was not 100% open but the trails were well maintained and little to no ice. Also tried skinning Sunday morning which was super awesome. Hard but well worth it. In case you make plans to visit Lake Placid or Whiteface - my brother and sister in law own a house 10 min driving distance to mountain and 20 min drive to Lake Placid. Nice cabin feel and pet friendly : Link to VRBO7 points

My trip report is super detailed. We skied, we ate, we drank, we napped. It was the first time skiing in about 3 years and it felt great.5 points

Arrived at 530 and in the house was Mrs Mute and Ryan. First day back at Blue from JH and it started with wet mashed potatoes. No real lift lines until ski clubs were finished with dinner. We went to Slopeside for a bite and beer when the quad line got deep. Went with Ballast Point Sculpin that overflowed with foam immediately. Checked the date and was bottled 8/28/18 [emoji15] Bartender was super nice and took care of it, no hard feelings. Went back out until 845. No real crowds and the temp dropped so it was more sugar sugar then before. Ski instructor training was doing their edge to edge snake on again. Cool. They were on Dreamweaver this time and when I saw them it was next to the skier cross start where half the trail is already closed so they just blocked everyone. No life at the 6 pack. Hopefully it gets back running soon.4 points

Ha no its sucked except for going through Teton Pass (es, 2-?). That was fuckin scary but cool as shit. Just missed two big ass elk and I just had to stop at the lookout and take it all in, i never star so many stars in my life4 points

Unlikely. in dfw waiting to board for phl. My rescheduled jac-dfw flight (that im not on) appears to be delayed again until 4:30, which would have put me in dfw after the last phl flight. It appears as though i did the right thing. so if i took the $400 and ended up somehow on the late flight, i would probably be more angry than i was yesterday.4 points

And if your ski bag is 51lbs that's like 150$ but added to my weight I'm still less than the 300lb dude from Texas the wheezes and sweats the entire time3 points

Condition update... yesterday was true Spring conditions (like when you were here last year). Today everything was frozen up, but Elk groomed all trails a second time and conditions were improving. Right now the sun is shining. Local forecast is some mixed precipitation overnight changing to showers tomorrow morning, warming up above freezing during the day. Friday early (2:00 am) changing over to snow showers lasting until around noon Friday. So overall, it's not looking too bad for Friday..... Of course weathermen are seldom correct. Three racks of baby-backs are rubbed and marinating.. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk3 points

Like i said, i would have played lets make a deal if they got a hold of me yesterday, and i could have gone skiing today with the boys. But when i show up at the airport, plunk my bags down to get checked in, i was already heading home in my head. From what i understand toms plane was one of the few that took off yesterday, so things are already backed up, there is actually snow in the forecast tomorrow, doesnt look like a big deal but you never know. I never thought this plane wasnt going to take off on a bright sunny day, so, yeah, in the end, i should have taken it, but at the same time i could have gotten stuck there for days. 400 bucks isnt really going to change my life at this point. so i decided to go site seeing. I heard there is a great mexican place, blue or red tortilla or something in the shitty part of slc, so thats where im heading. Wyoming is a beautiful state.3 points

Today was a "Jackson Hole of old" day. Absolutely 0 zero people, 100% sun, great groomers, and cold. It was around 0F at the base and maybe 10F at the top of the Gondola...slight inversion. First Amphitheater was a little stiffer then the carpet we had the other day with @JFskiDan and @NMSKI, but still fucking awesome. Grand was even better snow, and perfectly smooth. I definitely hit my highest speed of the trip today, probably mid 60s on Laramie and Grand. We overhead some people talking about doing another tram lap, so we decided today was the day. Skiing down to the Tram was like skiing into a freezer, with about 400 vertical feet to go, temps dropped quickly and my face instantly froze. Despite the 2 box wait, R bowl was so smooth it was like it was groomed. All the groomers up high today were fantastic, but we knew the stuff down low was chunky from previous days weather (yes, even some death cookies). It was just so nice being out on an insanely empty hill with 100% sun. It really was the Jackson Hole of old, something I haven't experienced in years. Quick Italian lunch and then I hit the trail that goes from town to the village for a quick 8 mile run. Given the snow/wind/insanely cold temps, today was my only chance to enjoy the beautiful (snow plowed) running trails Teton County has to offer. Today had me smiling on and off the hill today. Awesome way to end the trip. Top of Thunder Top of the Tram Crossing the Snake River on the pedestrian bridge during my run3 points

I've been there since about 4, and yeah, at that time there were no lift lines. Half an hour later crowds started to pick up, and kids just would ride the quad alone, in pairs, at most three at a time. Line control was on and off, but the white beard guy who tried arranging people in fours was like from another planet. Had no idea how to do this job and routinely was sending three people at a time. It was beyond ridiculous. "You three! Go!" and then gazes blankly right through the singles line with people wondering "WTF, we're right here! Fill the chair!" Snow was terrible at first. Heavy chop and slush. By 6 the upper half of the mountain started to freeze up and became quite nice. Nightmare and upper part of Dreamweaver were smooth. So was upper Main Street. But the lower you descend the worse it became, universally across the mountain, and that part really didn't improve much even by 8. IDK what was since, perhaps it all froze and became a super fast wonderland.2 points

They should start charging by the pound of the passenger for a ticket. I am so sick of sitting next to people who are too large and spill over into my seat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Only issue for me would be if school is closed or delayed. Don't see that happening though with the forecast. Pouring rain may also deter me. Mid Atlantic weather is such ass.1 point

If JF closed I’d be done with the epic pass. I’m pretty certain this is our last season there. Not sure where we will end up next season. Blue, CB and Montage are all on the list.1 point

edit: I want to find some numbers. The best I can show is that mountains on mega passes saw something like 8-9% of visits using those passes (not as a local season pass). But its hard to say that those numbers are a total increase since visits increase y-o-y in any case, and you have to assume none of those using the mega pass wouldn't have visited without. So there is an increase but its not a huge influx of people. Anyway here is some data: comparing Sugarbush which is on the Mountain Collective/Max/Ikon Pass system, and MRG which as you know is totally independent. Skier visits between the two pretty much track the same, and seem to be more weather dependent than anything.1 point

I agree with your first sentence, but disagree with the rest. If i was still skiing frost, and it was going to vaporize the following year, there is no way i would still be on an epic pass. Where the fuck would i ski on weekends when im in the poconos? The half open BB? Drive to hunter 30 times? (No carpooling with skitoolive either) @poconoceancity, if JF was to close, what would you do? Stay on the Epic pass, or move on to Blue/Toe/Montage? closing any resort wont funnel more people onto the epic pass. JF and BB are really two different resorts. They could probably litter some more trails at JF with park features, and get the park crowd over to JF, but tell the JF crowd to go ski BB? Thats probably not gonna work.1 point

Usually when you re-up your pass, Blues high tech scanner system usually shuts your pass off. Wont matter how many passes you have on you.1 point
