  1. I have had this bullshit idea for awhile now, finally putting some pen to paper and making it happen. Paper template MDF template Bases cut Edges glued Core shaping Fiberglass, vds tape and top sheet Next step is glue on the sidewalls and profile the core, hopefully that happens this week. After that I’ll be building a pneumatic press, I’ll be posting progress as I go. The plan is to be on these by the end of the season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Hopefully a fun ski, Im honestly going into this first pair with no expectations for it. If it looks like a ski and gets me down the hill once or twice it will be a success. Its been a learning experience and damn fun at the same time. Ive always liked tinkering with things, maybe thats why I became an engineer. I have yet to need to buy any tools and I come from a carpentry background so I kinda jumped in. I have had a design drawn in CAD for a few years but just never went any further. I now also have a full suite of AutoCAD at home and clicked print one day, knowing that was the first step that I needed to get this kicked off. The ski should press out to be 187cm, with a rocker camber rocker profile and full sidewall construction. Dimensions are 130-108-122 with a 20m radius in the tip and 21m radius in the tail, full bamboo core with some tip and tail fill. Im shooting for one layer of 19oz below the core, two layers of 19 oz above the core and a layer of 22oz in the binding mat. This should create a pretty stiff ski. Top sheet on this pair will likely be white because I want to see how they ski before I invest in sub-lamination printing of a top sheet. Im not 100% set on a design for the press yet, I know I have 50' of 4" fire hose waiting for me at my parents house. The original plan was not going to be pneumatic, then my dad pulled thru with some fire hose so I figured why not. I was planning on making the press with a mechanical clamping feature to start that I could use all of the pieces to the go full pneumatic, but now Im just going for it. I ran a bunch of FEA and did some hand calculations and think most people vastly over build presses. Im planning on making it out of wood, I can easily work with wood. My dad was a welder for years and has a few welders, so if I need a frame built in the long run Ill go that route at that point. Ill be building the profile into the bottom mold, Ill build a simple cat track and then press with the fire hose. Shooting to press the first pair at 50psi, and Ill see how they work if I need to increase that or if Im good with that tonnage. Ill hopefully have them at Blue towards the end of the season and anyone can ski them if you fit in the bindings. Ill keep posting updates, things dont always go as fast as Id like with a newborn at home!

  5. Arrived in the lot at 8:12, 35ish degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Booted up in the lot and headed inside to get my comp pass. No line at guest services however the guy in front of me was trying to get a refund because “there’s not as much snow as the webcams showed”. Ok dude it rained for 3 days, anyway got my pass and headed up B lift. Off B and took bear trap over and skated up to top of Sasquatch. Speed run down Sasquatch back to B and met up with my patroller buddies. Rinse wash repeat this run for a few times and then we decided to hit the park. Took some park runs until about 11 and then headed into trails end for a beer and some fries. $4 land shark 16oz cans, not bad for a resort. Headed back out at 11:30 and lapped the park for the rest of the day. Minimal crowds, jump line was nice however the snow slowed down after lunch. Park setup is nice given the snow situation. Headed out for the day at 3 and all in all it was a fun day. For Bear Creeks sake, they need cold weather and bad. No bare spots to be seen yesterday, however they won’t make it to March if this current weather pattern keeps up. oh and for you NASTAR guys, they seem to be paying extra attention to timberline this year as that seemed to have a good base to it and was fairly fun/fast yesterday.

Bluebird skis and no wind. Snow was still awesome. Skied until noon now heading home. Skied really really good today. Not as good as yesterday but still grate!

  12. Ok , spur of moment trip when buddy calls with tricked out sprinter van wanting to chase storm north. Leave late Friday afternoon and white knuckle winds/ northern rides to Mt Lincoln base to park and blend in. Night temps are low single digits and 14”+ has fallen [emoji41]. We bagged Lincoln in favor of Ellen figuring crowds be less. Opening bell run was powder powder powder turns. Lined up for upper mountain lifts opening 15 min before load time. We were 6th chair (north ridge express) and hit exterminator. [emoji41][emoji41][emoji41][emoji41]face shots all the way down. V-tah!!!!! No skiing pics cause powder day and go go go. Woods skied awesom. Rolled to 3 pm and collapsed . Tonight will be even colder. So here are some dirt bag skier van pics

  13. Last Friday I saw forecast for northern Vermont. Was in my car an hour later and got into my usual Stowe car camping spot around 3:00am after the last 100 miles being some pretty gnarly roads but subie held true as always. Took a nap and caught chair around 8:00 as Stowe was already packed. First two warm up laps were lift serviced deep in woods skiers left of the nose untracked and cut over cloud burst zone. Quickly realized the upper mountain would be firing while everyone else was too distracted by the lift service terrain. So headed up to the chin, however from the top of the climbing gully to the summit was 50 mph winds at 0 zero degrees. Pretty brutal after not expected that and sweating the whole climb up. It paid off though I was was probably 3rd person down then hour glass chute that day. Waist deep not even scraped at the chute. Then cut over to hell brook trail and I think only 2 beat me to it. Skied back to the gondola and climbed back to the chin however the wind and cold was even wore this time... my cheeks being the only exposed skin turned white. Some first timers I passed just below the ridge I hope they did ok and I didn't sand bag them. Skied The Northern slopes off the chin and only one person beat me to it, skied back into Stowe and cut left went deeper then angel food to find untracked terrain which put me back in the notch again. Then skied classic balls falls which was still impressively untracked at 2:30pm. Then the Bruce trail to the matterhorn for a beer and a bus ride back to the car in the lot. Spent the last two days touring here and I'm not posting any information about it cuz that be a crime. Also to go to take pictures and video.

  24. they've had the tech to do some sort of leaderboard thing (I assume like epic mix) for years since they switched to RFID passed. Always wondered why they never actually did it, as it would give them something to differentiate from the local competition. No more fudging your stats on PASR!

  28. Hello everybody, I hope everybody enjoyed the lifestyle shots. I didn’t have the energy after skiing for a detailed report as I was in a beer and breakfast meat coma. I arrived at the lower lot real early I think 710am the only person already there was Slim..also in the house were Johnny Law, Indiggio, JFDan, Atomic Jeff, Justo, Rose, Root, BenM, TheRealKT, Enjorales, Enjorales Dad, Enjorales Cousin, Ryan, Mute, PSUfly, Schifdawg, Eddie, Falco, Charles, Matt Edge, Salty, my achievement plaque and many more. First civivilan quad..challenge was better and there were ski patrollers hauling off a trainee who had hit a tree. Skied challenge a second time while most did Sidewinder..I skied sidewinder like three times Saturday and while it was good snow the Root rollers when there is no light early could turn into a hermanshaker..39 days into the season and no falls yet for me and I don’t want to go mad Homer Simpson there..doh Main Street was run of the day had an encounter with a race team coach with a patroller badge in the six pack line he was telling people to slow down at the shuttle. I didn’t know that was a slow skiing trail..I thought just paradise, Burma, vista and easy out..he mentioned the three slow signs at the bottom of Main Street..I mentioned his missing front tooth. Back to the skiing Switchback was also nice and did one run on paradise was that bad washboard surface and packed..nightmare to Dream Weaver closed at least early for the freeriders and razors closed for the PA cup races. Sausage sunday breakfast edition was a hit with bacon, sausage, pork rolls, eggs, pancakes all that and a bag of cheese noodles..hungout in the lot till like 3pm got some color..errr Red...was a nice day with good temperatures..

  32. Dropped mrs snobunski off at Pico and headed north 40 mins to Brandon gap for some BC. Tele Sundays have been training for BC/xcd and today was the first of hopefully many BC adventures. Set out in 10d and 6 or so fresh in a set skin track, never so hot and cold at the same time. Setup worked great although tele skilz were untested in boot+ pow in semi steep trees. Taking a rest about halfway down along the skin track I asked an old tele dude skinning up with his dog if he had any tips and he replied, P turns, don’t try so hard. Adjusted the mindset and worked much better, I made some of the best turns of my life along with some of the worst scary oh shit moments over the two laps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  33. Hello Everybody, Blue was good today. Much better than yesterday and it actually felt like winter should feel with cold air and sun on your face to start the day. In the House that Ray Build were @AtomicSkier @Schif@GrilledSteezeSandwich @Johnny Law @indiggio @RootDKJ Ryan @mute1080 @PSUFly @JFskiDan @enjoralas (and dad) @Justo8484 @KevinThomas @saltyantand more! The snow was pretty damn good today, but ROTD was definitely Main Street with a nice soft skiff of snow on top that had super grip, and fun to rip. The bumps were freshly seeded and were small, which was great to start to ski in. They were a ton of fun and it was nice to get back into bumps that weren't the size of smart cars. The parking lot situation was incredible again thanks to Enjo. Breakfast Sundays might be better than the regular sausage Sundays. Egg Sammies, freshly made guac, and meats were fantastic. Always good skiing with your goons. Ski y'all later!

  39. What do you care? You won't go there anyway. You'd ski on crap at blue and say how excellent it was before you'd go to Elk and ski on real snow.

  40. Since I bought a weekday three pass this year they sent me an email today saying I could buy a season pass for $399.00. Ain't gonna do it until they improve the worst grooming in PA, stop blowing wet snow once they have a base down, and invest in keeping spare parts for the lifts on hand. The 6-pack's been down or running at slow speed for how long now? I probable still wouldn't buy one since I ski at a lot of other better places on most weekends. (Greek Peak was great this past Saturday. 14" of snow. 6" of wet snow then 8" of fluff on top.)
