Ok, figured I’m not getting any younger so booked BC touring for Sawtooth and Pioneer range with Sun Valley Guides in Idaho. First time BC so yeah, I made every BC mistake out there but SV guides where friggin AMAZING! Anyhoo, one day as a shakedown and 4 days out of mountain yurts. Because of lack of recent snowfall made finding goods challenging but with guide oh yeah it happened (sawtooth getting 8” as I write this[emoji38]). So if I had to pick one highlight was dropping 1200’ couloir and aprons off of heyburn. Finding “cold” snow Getting ready for 4 days out back Bench yurt and don’t leave your edibles out! Steve will eat them... Heyburn summit and lunch No heliphant rescue needed! Summited yo/yo ma and dropped gunbarrel couloir Final return and view from fish hook yurt Hot tub! View from pooper! I want more....6 points

Thursday - Brighton Man it’s warm out! 29 degrees already at 7:30 in Cottonwood Heights and forecasted to be near the 50’s today and sunny. No dressing like an astronaut today!! Arrived at Brighton at about 8am or so, which afforded us baller parking once again! Son & I parking lot booted, while others found the locker area inside the lodge. Harriet, an 80+ club member approached us to provide ample mountain tips. She was great and we had a lot of fun banter with her in the lift line. Lined up as usual about 8:45 in the Crest Express and waited for the lift to open. Harriet lines up behind us and we asked her if the lines down in the peak bowl were hers. Up the crest and screamed down Pacific Highway, stopping briefly at the Milly Connect, which we’d later take to get down to that lift. Up the Crest and back down, this time heading all the way down to the Milly Lift. From the Milly we checked out the est of this side of the mountain mostly in search of the Captain Hook Woods. On a subsequent lap, we tagged and pox’s Blue the True at Brighton and proceeded through the woods. Snow was pretty good, but the woods were short. Up the Milly and down Little Milly that was starting to soften in sun-baked bumps. Traversed across into no-name woods for a much needed coffee deposit and down through the woods, the snow in which was very good. Up the Milly again and across the Scre Slipe and down some unmarked chute that was riddled with rocks. Skipped over the rocks and back into the woods again. Repeated the run, but I took Lone Pine, while the other ventured to the next chute(s). This was fun and the snow was good. We could see climbers going up the peak to drop in the bowl behind. After lunch we headed fir the Vlayton Peak, but found the afternoon snow less desirable, hard up top, good in the middle and mushy down below. Time for a new location. Luckily we got one run in on the Great Western as it broke down and we were forced to ride the Explorer triple to get altitude to get back to the base. Up the Crest Express and down through the woods to hit the Snake Creek express. We spent the rest of the day in the Hard Coon and Doilns Dewey fin start out.3 points

Informal end of season party poll. 1. If a certain multi person ski based drinking apparatus showed up would PASRs take part? 2. If you answered "Yes" to 1. What would be your liquor of choice? Asking these for a friend.2 points

NMDW was nice this morning. A little too soft and fluffy yesterday. Razors and also the far slopes were nice and fast, particularly Sidewinder. Some bumps are back on main street. Some people were slide slipping the bumps on Challenge trying to get them in a more uniform shape. Nice and sunny yesterday, so a lot of people played hooky. Flat light today. The bottom run out got pretty soft, but not slushy.2 points

I hear the safest place to be is in a very specific parking lot row in Palmerton. Guess I'll just have to quarantine myself there.2 points

Wednesday - Deer Valley Yet another bluebird day on tap. Wow it’s been dry out here lately, and so we’re off to groomer Nirvana! Departed the house a bit before 7am and arrived at Deer Valley somewhere near 7:40 and pulled into public parking lot 4. A talk w/ the attendant, we found that lot 1 is open and free, so we pulled into baller parking in the front row! The kid & I parking lot booted while the others went inside to make use of the facilities. Hope they don’t kick me out because of my rip-seen jacket and hand-sewn gloves. With all the women dressed to the Ts, I feel the need to lay low. Up the Silver Lake Express and its already starting to feel warm. Up the Sterling Express and we get the views of the groomers. Well, they do look good, but don’t look as good as the pictures. WTF? Off the lift, we head down Birdseye and quickly overtake the few people on the chairs ahead of us and put the pedal down. Now this is some spectacularly groomed snow that is totally grippy and fast, wow! We repeated the fun down Nabob. Next up was another high-speed cruiser Wizard that had some nice drops like Falls, but had dark sections forcing speed checks. Up the Wasatch Express we heard the Jerry quote of the day. A women had fallen and lost both skis and slid a few hundred feet down Wizard. One person stopped to pick up the lower ski, while another picked up the upper ski and then proceeded to ask the lower person if “he should bring it down”? We ran into the other Blue crew and skied the Triangle trees with them. We headed to the Silver Lake lodge for lunch, where I had the best white chocolate chip cookie ever, mainly because it was from Deer Valley. After lunch we headed to Empire peak to check out the bowls and chutes. To get to the chutes you had to take a wi Jed whoop-de-dood traverse through the woods that was littered with skiers who had fallen. Pretty ugly, kinda like the entrance to the Hobacks at times. The rest of the afternoon was spent noodling around the woods in Lady Morgan area, looking for untouched stashes. At the base The funicular Scenic views Bottom of Mayflower Chutes Lunchtime view Pasta & sausage dinner2 points

After a late departure but early arrival on Saturday, we all got settled into a well-apportioned house in Cottonwood Heights and prepared to hit the slopes. The weather has been very dry out here the past couple of weeks, but the mountains still have a ton of snow from earlier in the season. The forecast originally had some snow overnight Saturday into Sunday, but then shifted to fall during the day Sunday. Being the weekend, we decided our best bet, with the promised snow, would be to hit Solitude Instead of anything in LCC. Arose to a dusting of snow at the house and it still snowing while loading the cars. Outta the house & 7:30 and already there was a conga line headed to LCC coming up against us. Into BCC we fought up to only a few cars, mainly going slow because of the falling snow. Parked in the Moonbeam base instead of up in the village which turned out perfect since we got baller front-row parking. Took the express quad out and cruised some 3-4” of wonderful perder down to the Eagle express. Took a lap in the Eagle just to get loose and then headed out in the Powderhorn. From that point on, the day was a blur. A number of laps on the Apex to the Summit. Off the Summit we made our way down through Headwall Forest that had very nice snow and well spaced trees. By lunchtime anywhere between 8-10” had fallen and continued to snow. Afternoon was spent lapping the Honeycomb Canyon area where you could traverse across and drop in at your heart’s content. Skied till about 2:30 which was plenty, as the legs were pretty wobbly by then. Having many cooks on the trip makes for delicious home-made dinners. On tap tonight was salad, tomato mozzarella salad appetizers, pasta w/ sausage and bread. It’s good we got some snow today because the rest of the week looks bluebird but cold. With the snow yesterday and bluebird today, we’re planning on hitting Snowbird tomorrow. Heading up BCC Prime parking Honeycomb Canyon Still snowing Mealtime Nice digs1 point

Yeah, I can’t remember them ever planning and announcing closing weekend this far out. Wonder if the chairlifts can’t make it any longer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

They’re calling closing day awfully early... @Justin you still have time to get your moneys worth out of your season pass....still over four months so cant complain..actually 18 weeks which is by my math almost 35% of the year...I guess I’ll have to hit camelback again this season after Blue closes to bridge the gap to my Colorado trip. On the way home on closing day i have the song,”I will see you in November stuck in my Herman”....STFU GSS it’s Gone Till November wahahahah1 point

Pond skim is the 22nd. "Closing Time" by semisonic is going off in my head. Sunday, March 22nd (tentative date) Our pond skim contest is set for Sunday, March 22nd, the tentative last day of the season! Help us celebrate another great year by skimming, or plunging, our Vista plunge!1 point

Went to Buttermilk days 2 and 3. We were told about the sugar bowls out the boundary gate. We went back there day 3. Guy at info desk told us we could ski down the bowl but then had to skin back up and traverse out way we came. We went in about 1.5 miles in but with all our stops to take pictures we were running short on time and turned around before we made the bowl. Ran into some people who said you can totally walk out from bottom and it’s a 5 min walk to the lift. D’oh! I would definitely go back there, they have such an amazing uphill policy. And also to check out the other Aspen mountains. Thinking about the $150 add on the ikon base to have that option next season. Some yurt shots The yurt was awesome and it was actually really nice to unplug for a few days. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point
