  2. Got here a while ago. Bought some beers for the train rides. That was a haul. Excited to see this place tomorrow with some sun. With almost a full moon you can see a lot and the mountains look huge. Pretty pumped to be here!

  3. Hey All, I’m back from a fun Saturday at Blue mountain the true mountain. It was around 30 degrees when I arrived with strong winds and some early sunshine. In the house were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, JohnnyLaw, Mute, Ryan, Mixilplix, PSUFly, Bethlehem Ford Guy, Schifdawg, Rodney, Fritz, Lil John, Nastar Glenn, Mrs Snowbunski, MBike Mike, Root and many others. Second civilian chair and first run into the challenge wind tunnel and snow was better than expected firm but edgeable and very good consistent grooming. I did a repeat of challenge then did several runs on sidewinder which had similar snow but a bit less wind. Razors was closed to the race team and nightmare to dreamweaver for the free ride crew. No real liftlines both the six and quad running and a lot of tickets and rentals being sold. Fun parking lot today although kind of cold..tomorrow will be much warmer..all in all way better skiing than expected and a pleasant day. Only oucture i took was wegmans tomato pie that MBike brought!!!

  4. Ok, figured I’m not getting any younger so booked BC touring for Sawtooth and Pioneer range with Sun Valley Guides in Idaho. First time BC so yeah, I made every BC mistake out there but SV guides where friggin AMAZING! Anyhoo, one day as a shakedown and 4 days out of mountain yurts. Because of lack of recent snowfall made finding goods challenging but with guide oh yeah it happened (sawtooth getting 8” as I write this[emoji38]). So if I had to pick one highlight was dropping 1200’ couloir and aprons off of heyburn. Finding “cold” snow Getting ready for 4 days out back Bench yurt and don’t leave your edibles out! Steve will eat them... Heyburn summit and lunch No heliphant rescue needed! Summited yo/yo ma and dropped gunbarrel couloir Final return and view from fish hook yurt Hot tub! View from pooper! I want more....

  5. Yeah, I remember how someone was saying recently that grooming is always inconsistent at Blue, and there are always trails that are in less than skiable condition... Well, today everything was excellent. Good job!

  7. Friday - Alta Another Long Traverse Again was definitely the phrase today, as the lack of fresh snow had us searching the entire resort for the goods. Arrived in the lot about 8:15 to baller first spot parking due to the HOV we’re roll in’. The debate was Alta or Snowbird today, with Alta winning due to the parking and accommodating inside boot-up facilities (the kid & I don’t care). It was quite warm lining up in the lift line and I was glad I ditched the mid-layer. Both the last and time and this time they made some excuse about a software update and asked that we scan our passes to make sure they worked. As we walked up, murmurs of “They’re the Ikoners” could be heard from the locals. It’s getting tiring already. If the locals don’t like it, take it up with the mountain management who made the contract and not the passholders. There’s gonna be a fight! The plan was up the Collins and over to the Supreme, but some didn’t get the memo and went to the Sugarloaf, so we took an extra warmup run off the Sugarloaf, NBD. Today was going to be challenging from the get-go. No new snow, warm temps, bright clear sun, below freezing temps at night all made for some bad snow, which is mainly what we found. Up Supreme and down Challenger felt like being back at Blue with lots of cookies and hard pack, but we dealt with it. I went on recon to check for better snow up in the woods and found some goods on North aspects and higher up. My goal today was to get everyone to Elephant’s buttcrack for a pic, unfortunately I entered the wrong gate and ended up above it. Regardless, the snow was good. The next run down we hit a lower gate. Most dropped early, but I kept on and was rewarded by getting there. Next run in we all went and took some pics. After lunch we tried the Glory Hole and Glory Gulch which had some nice snow. We repeated a similar laps and then headed over to Yellow trail and East Greely. Because the mountains aspect was North, the snow was still good Later in the day we headed down Chartreauseb, which still had some good snow. A few more runs and out legs were rubber, so some went to change, while others went to the Wildcat to look for anyone hiking the jumps. A few crazies and we saw some mild hucks but nothing spectacular. We did hear the someone had a heart condition. Towards the end, the kid & I made a few laps iff the Wildcat chair and found some good snow there, so good we did it again looking for buckets, but only saw a couple.. Back at the GMD patio. We got some beers and hung out. As I looked, I spotted a familiar looking person. When they got up I went over to them and asked if they knew of PASR, to which @GSSucks said he was! What a coincidence! Returned the kid’s skis and got some take out pizza for dinner, as were all departing tomorrow. it was good to get a storm first thing in the week and then bluebird later, but a midweek system put the kaibosh on that This trip was great except for today, due to in all the bluebird days. A storm was due to roll in starting tomorrow, just in time for us to leave. Start of the day Bumpers at Elephant’s buttcrack Lunchtime at Alf’s Apres Almost gone!

  9. Some trivia for you aviation nerds: the 757 (narrow body) and the 767 (wide body) share a common type rating allowing pilots to fly either plane. The cockpits and handling characteristics are almost identical. I believe it's the only single/twin aisle combo that shares a type rating. Other aircraft like A319/320 also share a type rating, but they're the same aircraft sans a little stretch.

  26. We had some crazy wind gust here a cpl hours ago out of nowhere. Took out a grill, standing propane heater and sent shit strewn everywhere. Knocked down pieces of lattice and put a nice gouge in my truck. I wish we could have recorded the speed, probably fastest gust we've experienced. Fortunately one of our 8 cameras caught it. I think with all of the movement at once, it overloaded our NVR. That being said, if anyone has a managed switch with at least 8 poe ports that they're looking to get rid of, lemme know how much. Would love to put the system on a computer instead. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O0jC8zqS2-BcyicAgRXDy6BFKESKqRkh/view?usp=drivesdk

  31. I hear the safest place to be is in a very specific parking lot row in Palmerton. Guess I'll just have to quarantine myself there.

  32. What's the first stop? Where is all the luggage riding on the train? Shelf on top, dedicated place in each car? Enough space for all passengers and their skis? Is Switzerland life breaking the bank yet?
