I completely agree with the decision. Social distancing is so important for preventing the spread. I'm sure there are experts here who disagree, but whatever. Hopefully you are all smart enough to take the appropriate precautions to keep you and your loved ones safe. I'm out for this weekend, somebody eat some meat and drink some beer for me. Glad my last ski day was this:8 points

Crested Butte is still skiing great. Barb did here a rumor that there was talk of it shutting down but we have heard nothing to prove that to be true. at this point, i am content with my ski season possibly coming to an end sunday at CB (not to be confused with camelsack) No tears will be shed by me.6 points

I’ve got brisket, pulled pork, ribs, skirt steak, bacon, shrimp, flatbreads, pork tenderloin, pancakes and should have creme brûlée. And nitrile gloves. Had to scale down the menu for the anticipated lighter crowd. I think pops should have eggs. I haven’t gotten any bread products except the naan for the flatbreads.5 points

We could see up to 6 inches today starting around 10 or 11. Could be a good one!5 points

customs agent: “I see you’re a runner, have you done an ultra yet? I just signed up for the JFK 50” Me: “yeah a few weeks ago” customs agent: “Great. Welcome back” 🤷♂️5 points

You’ll be happy to know the only questions the CBP officer collecting the receipts asked were about running. Apparently he just signed up for a 50K. What Coronavirus?!5 points

Day 30 for me. I demoed some skis today as I have definitely outgrown my current pair. They skied well and felt like I needed less effort to ski them fast. I wanted to try another pair after lunch but they were out. Gonna try to see if I can bolt them down in the next 2 days that we have left to ski here. Did a lot of groomers today and hit some of the blacks off Silver Queen but none of the intense stuff the guys did. Was another good ski day. Only took one picture. Kids are germ magnets. I have one too. It seems like this virus does not have quite the same adverse effects as something like the regular seasonal flu might, for whatever reason, but that doesn’t mean they can’t carry it and spread it to other people. If my daughter were in daycare or preschool right now, I would not be sending her. Bring this thread back to ski stoke. More pow, European beer, and wine; less corona! most of the people commenting on FB dont seem to realize they are closing early to save money, not cause of the corona virus. passholder party and other events might be cancelled cause of corona, but the lifts are closing early to save $4 points

Another very nice day in the books. Some light snow then sun early on. Barb demo'd skis and she ripped in them. After lunch it started snowing pretty hard and a few inches fell on the mountain, at least up top. After lunch at Butte 66 (impossible burger pic below) Barb headed back to the condo and Dan and I hit Forest back to silver queen to Paradise Bowl where Dan found a nice stash...it's like I was skiing with a local. After another run on Paradise we hit international to the base and called it a day. Another open to almost close sesh where we definitely experienced more of the legendary Crested Butte terrain under the Peak and over on the North face. It's definitely as advertised. Suns out now but supposed to snow later. More pics below...3 points

yes, it is bad and it will get worse. Italy had 250 deaths in the last 24 hours. That is incredibly significant and they ARE testing and screening people. I got back to the states last night. Nobody screened me. I called the PA DOH and told them that I came back from Switzerland (level 3 alert country). I asked what precautions I should take regarding self-quarantine for myself and family. They said they were not aware of any precautions that should be taken for returning from that country and will have to check with the epidemiologist and get back to me. WTF. Eventually called back and told me to self-quarantine. I think it is actually worse than is being reported because of the lack of testing that is occurring. It is absurd that countries are testing thousands of people a day and we have barely tested 10,000 in the last two months. South Korea has been testing that many EACH DAY.3 points

One would think that it should be safer to ski outside than besiege stores in search of bottled water and toilet paper, but I guess not.3 points

Well, the 6 days of skiing turned into 4 days of skiing. The first day offered plenty of sun, days two and three were filled with deep snow and good turns, and the final day was sun filled and full of miles upon miles of exploration. It was an incredible experience to ski in the Alps and travel through Switzerland by train. The ease of travel was mind-blowing compared the infrastructure here in the states. The mountains were incredible, the skiing was fantastic, the breads, cheeses, and meats were delicious, and I don't think I've ever drank so much wine during après festivities. Having a guide rip around and show us the mountains and stashes was worth it and definitely a confidence booster. Despite the abrupt end to the trip, it was still a fantastic experience. I'm glad that I got to share the experience with @KevinThomas and @AtomicSkier Some of these photos were posted before, but these are some of my favorite memories: Old-school tin can gondola: Roller road crossing: Lunch in Tortin: Powder turns: Sunny exploration of Lac des Voux, Combatseline, and Six Blanc: 500m surface lift to the top of Greppon Blanc Mountaintop lunch above Thyon: Top of Mont-Fort: Après and Cheese Cave: Hope you all enjoyed the reports and photos over the last week. What a great end to the season. Thanks for following along!2 points

Sure I remember Y2K...and so what if people are old doesn’t mean we want them to die from a virus...this ski season is 4 months old that doesn’t make it better that they’re closing early. This has nothing to do with Y2K and while I’m not as nervous as some, this should be taken seriously...especially from somebody like you who works in the medical field.2 points

The argument that influenza kills more people every year isn't comparable. The flu is somewhat predictable where strains of the flu can be isolated early enough for vaccines to be modified from year to year for prophylaxis. COVID is a newly discovered virus where there is no vaccination and won't be for a while. It is spread rapidly and people may not even be aware that they are carrying the virus because of the varied symptomatology. People are dying at a rate 10+ times the rate of influenza. It is ignorant to blame "the media" for talking about this when it is literally a worldwide pandemic.2 points

Interesting fact: last area opened on the east coast that wasn't a reopening of a formerly closed area was Whitetail, in 1991. Anyways, I decided to keep up this project. Here is lost area #2: Belle Mountain outsider Lambertville, NJ.2 points

Was a great day today! I remembered that epic keeps your stats so I looked it up and I got 17 runs in, which is much more then I usually do. The legs don’t feel too beat up but my stupid broken foot is talking to me. After some ice it feels better hopefully tomorrow will be ok. Lunch pic for Doug. Obligatory Paradise Bowl shot. Hope so. I work this weekend, so missing closing day, on top of their last minute decision to close this week. I really love spring skiing and tailgating after the clocks spring ahead, pretty much robbed of that this year. Blue doesn’t give a rat’s ass about Covid 19, it’s all money. More people die of the regular flu every year. The media has totally had a field day with this. Went to Aldi today to buy a few things, the shelves were practically bare!!! WTF people get a grip.1 point

Thanks for the info. Some people are saying it's terrible, others say it's overhyped, so it's good to hear your perspective. A few people at work were told to stay home...one person who works on my floor came back from a cruise, worked all week, then was told to start the 14 day quarantine today. I may request to work from home for a bit and keep my daughter home if I can. Anyway, your trip looked awesome. Looks like you got some great conditions1 point

I understand their decision but they say "due to weather" this will be our last weekend of skiing though. I read that as we're closing for the season due to weather not the coronavirus. Just saying. Either way I'm not mad.1 point

North Face. Goal of the day for me was to not eat shit on the t-bar. Goal accomplished. Some real nice stuff off north face. Steeps, trees, rocks, and chutes. stopped to see Rambo. Not sure pic does it justice. at least i think that pic is rambo. I had to hold my arm up and over the edge to get the pic.1 point

Amazing afternoon. Barb hit up some bump runs off of the Teocali lift while Dan and I rode the T bar and took two runs on the North face (double slab and north face). Awesome experience back there. Very steep open rock face areas with lots of nice pow stashes still. Some very tight trees too depending on the route you take.1 point

Found this awesome off grid yurt in Marble for rent. When I sent the link to my friend of course she said we have to check it out immediately. Heading there early March for a few days. Don’t have to skin in, 4WD road and park right in front. Marble has some good secluded backcountry ski spots I am looking forward to checking out. I have only been to Marble in summer, but it is such a cool little area. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point
