  1. Hey All, I’m back from a fun closing day at Blue mountain. Everybody was in the house except PARidge, JFDan, NMSki, Toast and Justo...at least 40 familiar faces about half of them PASRs. The temperature was in the upper 30s under overcast sky’s which turned to mid 50s under sunny sky’s. I was at Blue from 7am until after 4pm. Ski conditions were all over the place but generally hardpack turning to spring snow by late morning and full on spring in the afternoon. Enjorales cooked up tons of food..breakfast food, two kinds of ribs, pork loin, five kinds of sausage, brisket, Creme brûlée and even filet cooked on blocks of sea salt. In addition there was nice horn action in the lot, good music, paragliders, Eaf general fun fun fun. I took a lot of pictures here are a few and I’ll post more later.

  6. It was a great week with the boys! I need to post this so everyone knows how awesome these 2 are. Yesterday was looking great with about 3” of fresh. We started on Red Lady lift and were traversing over to Paradise lift first run of the day. Started out groomed but on the first head wall after making a few turns something caught my left ski and turned me around backwards. I was totally out of control and fell downhill and landed on the back of my head. When the stars stopped spinning over my head I looked around and saw one pole 10’ above me. I managed to get up and grab that but did not see the other. Finally saw the tip of the strap peeking out from the snow. I slowly skied down and Domenic was waiting for me and Dan had gone back up to look for me. I was a total mess and he got me over to a picnic table. He asked if I needed medical attention and I wasn’t thinking straight. I said I wasn’t sure and was just going to go back to the house and end my ski day. He called over a patroller who assessed me and looked at my helmet and saw it was cracked. He called for back up and they wrapped me in the taco and put me in the sled. Diagnosis is a concussion. When the guys got me back to the house I told them I was going to rest and they should go back and ski. They insisted on packing up the house and driving me back to Boulder. They both took such good care of me. I couldn’t even walk without holding on to one of them. And they both got to see me ugly cry. Doctor said concussions make people emotional, women cry and men get very angry. Girl next to me at clinic also had a concussion and she couldn’t stop crying either. Walking unassisted today, still dizzy with headache and ribs on one side are real sore, so I guess I fell on them too. So a huge thank you and hugs to Dan and Domenic! 7. Today was probably one of the best ski/ general fun days that I’ve had in a while. Huge shout out to @PSUFly for the buddy pass and thanks to everyone else for making it as fun as it was. I’ve been on the board for a long time but never really got the chance to ski with you all and damnit you guys are fun to ski and hangout with. I’ll be up a bunch next year for sure.

  8. I’ll be up there, my wife and I are working remotely until April 20th. We planned on a trip to N.H., but now that’s out. So a few days at CB is more likely.

  10. Just finished up maple syruping. Season ended a little early. 44 gallons of sap gave about 80 ounces of syrup, about a 70 to 1 ratio. 65 pounds of propane later: (Used some leftover labels from 5 years ago)

  11. Damn. Glad to hear that you are okay right now. I've had plenty of concussions myself so I know how all that goes. They definitely are two great guys and of course this just confirms that. Good thing they were there with you. Props to @JFskiDan and @RidgeRacer 🙌🙌🙌

  17. I have to give props to Vail, they are going to pay their employees for the week. That is an absolute huge dollar amount. As much as all of this sucks big hairy balls, the resorts are doing the right thing in my opinion. They could potentially be putting people at risk, including their employees. shout out to Alterra too, but i think they did it after Vail. All the dominoes will eventually fall.

  20. It's a gem of a place. Very high on my list of favorite places. Just made it out too since they're closing tomorrow. Like the Terminator though "I'll be back". Dan, Barb and I are driving to Boulder tonight and flying out of Denver tomorrow.

  21. Got home a few hours ago. Major major thanks to Barb for being so awesome. Always a pleasure skiing with you and hanging out Barb...Thanks again for everything! Was a great time. Crested Butte is next level good. I don't know that I've ever seen a place with so much steep terrain and we didn't even see all of it. The North Face stuff is essentially a mountain side full of seemingly endless extreme terrain. You can go way out there too. The stuff under the peak was just as insane. Not to mention the powder runs in paradise bowl which were pretty unforgettable. Not sure what all the closures means for my ski season yet but if the turns I made this past week were it, I'm good.

  28. Damn! Glad to hear you’re alright! Concussions are no joke. Get a ton of rest the next few weeks. I’ve had my fair share of concussions (7) and it seems like every one effects you in a different way. All the more reason to wear a helmet.

  31. Jackson hole received 23” of new snow and they abruptly decided to close for the season this morning. Blue mountain opened for the season before Jackson hole and remained open longer...

  32. Hope you're feeling ok Barb. You will need a new helmet but it probably saved you from a more serious injury. Trip looked good otherwise.

  34. Very. it’s one thing to close a PA resort that MAYBE has a week or two left, it’s another to close down resorts out west that have a solid 2 months left in the season. No one wants to be “that guy” who is accelerates the spread of a disease whether it’s likely or not.

  35. Hey All, I’m back from a fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain on 3.14 their second last day. I arrived at the lower lot at dark o clock and in the house were Atomic Jeff, Johnny Law, Schifdawg, Nastar Glenn, MBike Mike, Mute, Ryan, BenM, FirstGradeTeacher, Salty, Enjorales, Bethlehem Ford Guy, Justo, Rose, Mixilplix, Mrs Snowbunski, Indiggio, Tarpenhead, West Chester homeys and many more. First run on challenge was firm, paradise was mini cookies I only skied it once, lazy was a little better, Switchback was dark and had a root roller or two, nightmare to dreamweaver was 3D snow, Switchback was pretty nice last pitch right side $$$$..Razors got better and better I skied somewhere around 12-13 runs by 10am then went to the lot had some chips beer.. The sun continued to beat on the snow and I went back out and first skied lazy the whole mile to the Main Street chair with BenM..skied Widowmaker from the top aka raceway to the chute to lower Main Street to shuttle to lower park. Then up the six pack and skied razors which was now semi spring snow pretty nice and Razorback some nice corn..on homestretch a snowsnake bit me and I had my first fall of the season..full yardsale..GSS intact. Then skied sidewinder which was full on spring, razors again and challenge. Nice second session. Now at work counting money and listening to voicemails..JADIP..ski everybody tomorrow..I need to buy some champagne.

  36. Second session was good, I like those conditions a lot. Stayed out way longer than I expected. Told Doug I was doing one more run, ended up doing maybe four or five more. Looking forward to tomorrow.

  40. TFTI. Grate stuff!! Razor's Edge was aaahmazing! Smooth like butter, just like my CRJ-700 landing in Flight Simulator last night. I must've made at least a dozen laps on Razor's. Pleasantly surprised today, I bet there's still some fresh cord on X-ing. Grate Middleswarth chips and pretzels in the parking lot, and that scratch on my Sonic from Mrs. Snowbunski's skis will buff right out. Even skied about 5 runs with @eaf and his daughter. I skied for more than 90 minutes today. WTGAI JADIP TFTI Ok.

  42. Back in Jackson 2020 Part Deux ... So not a lot to write about past few days. I was hearing people were death sliding down Rendevous Bowl Sunday cause it was just rock solid. The snow Tuesday was much needed but it was a heavier wet snow. As afternoon went on the hard pack stuff resurfaced. A few tram rides Tues and Wed morning but mostly exploring thunder and sublette looking for stashes Thursday morning was hardpack but not unexpected with the 40s most week and teens at night. So working around other side in Casper and Apre Vous lifts. They softened nice with afternoon corn but a few spots exposed to wind were stayed bulletproof all day Took Friday off cause I think it would have been a repeat of Thurs I think. Considered a day at Targhee but just didn’t happen. So ended up with a little trip off the beaten path. Drove up to Teton Pass To check it out .....wow lots of line options up there. Crossed over to Idaho to the town of Victor. Different works over there from Jackson. Early dinner a at place called West Side Yard ... looks like it’s themed on scrap metal. That chair was the most solid and heavy chair ever seen or sat in. Good lager from Teton Brewing. Give it try sometime Curious to see what the lines are like this weekend with the storm forecast and the Corona precautions they just implemented. 🙁

  43. Day 30 for me. I demoed some skis today as I have definitely outgrown my current pair. They skied well and felt like I needed less effort to ski them fast. I wanted to try another pair after lunch but they were out. Gonna try to see if I can bolt them down in the next 2 days that we have left to ski here. Did a lot of groomers today and hit some of the blacks off Silver Queen but none of the intense stuff the guys did. Was another good ski day. Only took one picture. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  45. Pretty socked in up top which made our run off north face pretty dicey to start. Got way better as we went down. Snow is still good on this side, but we were told banana, peel, and stuff off the high lift would be baked From yesterdays sun and refrozen.

  46. Have not seen any alien pass announcement. Not all that much incentive to do it when they are about the only place open on the east coast and folks who do come are likely to brown bag it.

  49. Our flight left at 5 am. They did not have enough people to check our bags. Hardly any of the kiosks worked to self check. The people that used the working kiosks got charged twice on their credit cards. Having to pay to take skis with us. Ran out of overhead space when the plane was no where near full. On the way home, some people’s skis ended up in Dallas, not Philadelphia. They did get their skis next day via Fed ex
