Abasin is toying at the idea of opening later this spring. They’ve been grooming to preserve snowpack http://arapahoebasin.blogspot.com/2020/03/grooming.html?m=14 points

Colorado too. News showed tons of cars again at Berthoud Pass yesterday. For the love of God, just stop and take a pause. Heard there was a sheriff at East Portal TH turning skiers away. I really don’t get the, “Everyone else is stuck inside but I am gonna get out and ski because I am special” mentality. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

It's absolutely infuriating. Instead of locking down counties after it expands. PROACTIVELY lock down the whole state. I'm getting really fucking frustrated with Pennsylvania's lack of a response.2 points

I can't believe how many people are not taking it seriously. It really is sad.2 points

Pa State parks should seriously consider charging a small entry fee for out of state vehicles.2 points

I haven’t been in a store in about a week and a half. Went today. They seem to really be spacing people out in line, however, didn’t limit number of people in the store. I was surprised how many people had masks on... that weren’t covering their noses. I didn’t wear gloves or a mask, just washed my hands when I got home, which I always did anyway.2 points

Well, I'm working on joining the touring crew. Deals have too good to pass up. Picked up some Lange XT Free 130 LVs which are considerably lighter than my RS130s, have a tour mode (more cuff movement), and have tech inserts. Also, picked up Atomic (Salomon) Shift bindings which are a tech pin binding on the way up, and a true alpine toe/heel on the way down. They're going to be mounted on some Kastle FX96HPs in 180cm. It's not the lightest setup in the world, but all 3 pieces are compromises towards increase downhill performance. It will certainly be the lightest ski/binding/boot combo by far in my quiver. I'll get some skins sometime between now and next year. Also need to get them mounted.2 points

I wasn’t worried about this initially, I’m not one to panic immediately. And I’m very distrustful of the media. Mainstream and otherwise. But I did take all the recommendations seriously, hand washing, stay away from crowds- but I practice social distancing when there isn’t a pandemic 🙂. I’m hoping 30+ years of people coughing in my face has given me a great immune system.1 point

Yes, we got an email saying to use the N95 mask for multiple patients and several days, unless visibly soiled. We are to put it in our brown paper bag when we’re not using it. We have 4 dedicated covid rooms, expectation is one nurse can care for all 4! I’m like WTF, if all 4 are seriously ill, how can one person do that. I said something, but was ignored.1 point

It is infuriating that he is accusing healthcare providers of stealing supplies when they are forced to use the same mask for an entire shift or even longer. But enough bitching about him. Stay home and with as few people as possible.1 point

No, white flight from Queens and the Bronx seems to be most of the transplants. In my case flight from Bloomfield, NJ. Listening to Donnie and my blood pressure is skyrocketing. Head of St Luke’s gave a press conference earlier, and said that half the Covid patients in his hospitals in Monroe county are from out of state and they are not counted in the county totals (135 today).1 point

So, when someone mentions “new yorkers” you assume they mean blacks, browns, and puerto ricans? asking for a friend.1 point

I’m aware NYCers fucked up pocono country place. I’ve done my googles. It’s just funny to me that everyone blames nyc for pocono crime when in reality it’s mainly white trash. It’s just easier to blame the black and brown people. Those aren’t Puerto Rican’s up in green town and gouldsboro. Don’t recall seeing any black folks around wallenpaupack either.1 point

I know you are the expert on pocono crime and drugs, And new york for that matter, but new yorkers fucked up APCP. Look it up. Nobody said new yorkers fucked up all of the poconos.1 point

Evidently the people in the Poconos can't stay away from one another... https://www.mcall.com/coronavirus/mc-nws-coronavirus-stluke-poconos-20200329-zjj2oxbqvbcafeu27qartqezv4-story.html1 point

I always found it funny that New Yorkers get blamed for the Poconos crime when a vast majority of the crime is from locals born and raised in the Poconos. The amount of heroin up there is amazing. Lake Ariel and green town are like Kensington jr’s1 point

Probably not a financially viable solution to crowds. They have to the have the facilities and personnel to monitor and collect all those fees. Some state parks have so many access points that it would be almost impossible.1 point

I ride past there all the time. I’m always surprised how busy the boat launch parking lot is...filled with non-PA plates. They do have a nice restroom, though 😃1 point

My roommate is a cop so for the time being we’ve set up what is essentially a “decontamination” station in our garage (detatched) for when he comes home from work, shoes, belt, kevlar vest, etc stay in the garage and get sprayed, everything else gets put into a bag and hand washed immediately, inside of the car gets Lysol wiped down, all computer keys get cleaned, door handles cleaned, etc. it’s about an hour and a half worth of work AFTER someone comes home from a minimum 12 hour shift... and yet people still aren’t taking social distancing seriously1 point

That’s why I shop at Trader Joe’s these days. They only allow a few people in the store at a time. Line is 20-30 min but everyone 10’ + apart and my local TJs sells booze to (win!) Be safe all. By the way, I’m completely hammered now ... [emoji1782][emoji89][emoji1783]1 point

No worries, it took one month to go from the first COVID death to the 1000th and 48 hours to go from 1000 to 2000. It’s alllll under control.0 points
