My younger kids are ok with it. They miss their friends but that's about it. Bummed for my oldest for sure who worked hard for 3 1/2 years only to see graduation and prom likely cancelled. We know there are a lot of people dealing with a lot worse because of this so there's definitely perspective. Still sad for her and her friends for sure.3 points

Might as well go ahead and have the wife or kid take care of it at this point. Things will still be “interesting” after this lockdown thing, and its not like you can do curbside pickup on a hair cut. Plus, you wont be the only one needing a haircut in a few weeks.2 points

Schools are working with cable companies to provide free internet to folks who qualify for a certain amount of months.2 points

I expected that they would be closed for the rest of the year, but that doesn't make it suck any less. My wife and I are splitting up the learning days, although she has covered more thus far and I will need to pick up the slack the more she gets called in to work. Fucking brutal doing these home schooling lessons. I've heard its easier for upper-middle and high school students who are better at independently learning. For a 3rd and a 5th grader not so easy.2 points

Cue the Alice Cooper song..I wonder if this will translate into a tax savings for property tax owners. School districts are likely gonna go way under budget with hourly workers not being paid, lower utility costs, no bussing. Ridge im sure your older kid is sad about this since she’s a senior. Are the younger kids happy about this??2 points

Ditto. However, wife hadn't got a haircut for a few weeks before the lockdown took effect and so, after watching a few YouTube videos I took the scissors in hand... I'm still alive and typing, so I guess I didn't do that bad a job!1 point

Most school districts (libraries, fire houses, first aid squads, municipal centers, etc) have been getting free cable and internet from us for years. If they are not, they really should have someone negotiate a better franchise contract when it comes up for renewal again. For everyone else --> https://internetessentials.com1 point

Follicllly-challenged so my wife just buzzes my head with razor ever week. My boys on the other hand...1 point

I've been having my wife cut my hair for years, just using a set of those Wahl clippers (I think that's the brand). I don't think she wants me cutting her hair though1 point

I have serious concerns for my hair by the end of this. But it will definitely be interesting. I'm kind of at the tipping point now where it either gets crazy or I cut it. I can't remember the last time my hair was as rowdy as this. I'll have long flowing locks and need a bigger helmet by next ski season if this keeps up1 point

Yup, and some schools are providing computers for those who do not have any either.1 point

Ive had this song stuck in my head for like 3 weeks...and on topic this plague is definitely going to create a greater gap between the haves and the have nots. I was trying to explain to my office manager why afro Americans are dying more from this than white people...a lot of them work front end service jobs, take public transportation, have undocumented medical conditions and not just race but socioeconomic status plays into this a lot. Barely any corona cases in the deep west end of allentown but tons of them in the ghetto areas of Allentown.1 point

call it whatever. public school is compulsory and some peeps dont have internet to take classes. plus libraries are closed. I dont care enough to continue this. just saying.1 point

if public school is all online now then internet should be handled differently. I may suck at communicating but people need to follow trains of thought better too.1 point

There are a lot of restrictions and whatnot about who gets the supplement and who doesn't It doesn't seem as easy as it is for people. As for exceptions for employees feeling unsafe, talk to healthcare providers 🙄1 point

Has your work been normal?? I couldn’t imagine my parents trying to teach me..maybe cause I’ve always been a lot smarter than them. Speaking of parents mine have been annoying. My dad hasn’t been involved in the business in years..I’m the president but now due to this pandemic he feels relevant and been up my ass and office managers and accountants. I’ve held my cool as one day I won’t have parents.1 point

Teaching elementary kids online is harder work and longer hours than teaching them in school. I hear middle and high schoolers are easier to teach online. A lot of teachers are working their asses off right now1 point

Normally around this time of year prices at the hotel house go up. Well this year it’s down significantly presumably because occupancy has dropped from 75% to perhaps 20%-30%.1 point

Good at least you laughed and I only mentioned it cause others were in the morning call comments.1 point

There's online learning. Granted it's not nearly as structured as actual school (at least for the younger kids) there's still a 4th quarter. It's just all virtual.1 point

I cut again on Sunday, but it grew a ton with the warmth and sun, so I'll probably have to cut again this weekend. Can't wait!1 point

This is a good page for up to date data on Covid-19. Interesting to see all the testing about 2.3 million tests in the US about one in 5 tested is infected..that holds true in PA In NY and NJ almost one in 2 infected while Vermont is one in 14 and Hawaii one in 40 tested came up positive https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/1 point
