i get that graduation, prom and senior trip is a big deal, but please dont forget that for some seniors a few decades ago their trip was to Korea, or some other lovely place, that wasnt a beach just like Wildwood. . Like i said, things could be way worse.4 points

The most resilient people in the world are kids. I get it that high school seniors got the shaft, but this is a minor inconvenience for most. My daughter had a drive-through 5th grade graduation today, and everyone could not have been happier. Life is what you make it!4 points

My neighborhood's ETA for restoration is June 6th at 11PM per PECO. Thank goodness for the generator!2 points

One problem with that is a lot of these school don't have AC and it gets fucking hot in these cinder block schools, especially in the city.2 points

Top of Flagstaff Mountain in JT. They call it "Free 100 mile view". I'm not sure why they don't just call it 100 mile view or something else. The Free makes it sound like views typically come at a cost...which they shouldn't. Anyway if you've never been up there check it out before it's gone (they're going to build homes up there). Probably one of the best views in the area. Can see down into Bethlehem (sands / steel stacks).2 points

I was so high on speed that I forgot to check the speedometer. Lol. I did make sure to take turn 1 high up against the wall. Best part is my wife recorded it and was screaming "go go go" the whole time. Another pic for BenM and JFSkiDan below.1 point

I don’t like to mess with the settings on the generator and transfer switch. I’m likely to spend more on a service call than on the gas used if I mess with switching it off manually. power just came back on yippee1 point

I’ve driven it as well, at 150+. Track does not seem as big when you’re going into a corner at 150. Congrats1 point

improved is a matter of opinion, its a little rowdy with a sketchy rock ledge portage in one direction as @saltyant mentioned. I haven't gone that way in a few years. it gets washed outr and always debris sticks etc.1 point
-
Thanks I had not seen that yet, figured it would be soon. Kudos to them for opening, I am sure they lost money. It was a nice gesture.1 point

Thats the same exact time for the people on the other side of my street. I wonder if they just threw a dart and it landed there, and thats what they are telling everybody. Being without power sucks. I assume yours runs on NG or propane? Cant be cheap running that non stop for 4 days.1 point

@saltyant supports his mom in addition to himself. I don't blame him for being concerned.1 point

Idk. I start at Mauch Chunk lake. The trail might be ok with your bike since you have really thicc tires. If you ride east, there's a really narrow ledge over which you have to carry your bike.1 point

I got really lucky and the power never went out. A lot of streets had huge trees down on them around me and were closed. The fire department has been out non stop since last night cutting up fallen trees.1 point

That's another good rowdy gravel / easy mtb ride with some switchback trail thrown in. Is the Inn and the observation platform still there?1 point

I agree with you, those are the only parts of school that don't suck! I also think it's dumb that they didn't postpone school, consider the quarantine to be their summer break and have them go back in and finish over the summer. God forbid the teachers don't get to go to the Jersey shore all summer!1 point

I'll try to stay 3 or 6 feet or whatever it is away from people, but I'm not standing on silly stickers like I'm in preschool.1 point

We have some pretty shady people come here to buy stuff, dude showed up yesterday i have never seen. he walked past all the signs that say you need to wear a mask to enter the shop, walks in the shop without a mask on, i tell him he needs to wear a mask. he says he doesnt have one. What fucking rock has this dude been living under for the past month?1 point

Check out the contained video of laser-scattered droplets with and without mask. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc20078001 point

The mask has become a part of the “oh shit where’s this” pocket pat down whenever I leave the house. It still confuses me how people are so against wearing it for the 10-15 minutes they’re in a store or the 5 minutes they’re in Wawa in the morning. 300lb bubba who drives his 97 s10 to Wawa shirtless and smoking his 8th cigarette of the day at 7am puts his shirt on before going in no problem at all, but god forbid he has to wear a mask.1 point

Just thought of something. American Dream, which I cannot imagine was doing particularly well financially before this pandemic has been shuttered for months and is part of a boondoggle of a mall that has struggled in all forms for a decade or more. Could it be shuttered permanently?1 point

I thought about driving by the allentown protest and yelling,”All Lives Matter” but apparently that’s considered racist.0 points

yep with a monster climb on High (?) St. behind the opera house. One my favorite rides of the summer is to keep going on the switchback up to summit hill to catch a Free Range Folk and/or Serene Green set at the Summit Hill Hootenanny, guess it ain't happening this year0 points

A full 2% of the population of the city of allentown has tested positive for Covid-19. I had a customer on the phone who volunteered at the polls up in Neffs by Slatington and she said only one poll worker wore a mask. She said masks contribute to deaths because it cuts off oxygen supply.0 points
