My grandparents used to live out by tunkhannock and there was always a few inches of base throughout winter. There were even a few old ski areas that we would hike. Maybe a few hundred feet of vert, but it was still awesome. Miller Mountain now has a giant well mowed gas pipeline cut going up, across, and down it. I’ve been eying it up since they cut it a few years back. It’s 1500 vertical feet, not steep but it appears to have the same grade as some blue or green trails with some steeper headwalls. I would imagine it goes against wherever the test took place. So if a kid comes to PA, tests positive and gets shipped back to Maryland, there is a sick person in Maryland and a tick against PA. I know Florida was, and probably still is, taking note of Florida Resident vs Non Resident positive Covid test. I don't think Pennsylvania is collecting this level of data.
Everything will be cool after November. People at work keep telling me that.
In other news, welcome to September! Meteorological summer is over. Cant wait till i can open the windows.
Let me rephrase then... I can go to many hills in PA that get dog shit for snow, that have some sort of marked glades. Elk generally gets snow needed for a hill in pa to have some marked glades, and it sure as hell has the terrain for it, yet it’s not allowed. Kind of like snorkeling being illegal in Florida where the water is clear, but jersey beaches allowing it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Drive five hours to see family over the holidays, skiing is typically a part of it.
And if I can get out there, I will. My company has a few clients in Bozeman I try to make excuses to meet with when I can and then more excuses to extend the trip for a few days to ski Big Sky or Bridger Bowl. Other than that, nothing more than the occasional 3 day weekend to SLC or Portland.
if our paths ever cross this winter and you've got a ~315mm bootsole, you're welcome to give mine a try. I have salomon guardians on my 122s, which are somewhat adjustable, but it's really a totally different ski than any of the others, which is I guess why they don't make them anymore. 108s and 110s will have pivots on them though, so not really any adjustability.
