Holy cow, where to ski this season?? American resorts went bonkers with their reservation system. Suuure, buy a pass before 07/14, and if you can't use it, we'll allow to carry it over to 2021. Flights and hotels are all your problem. Yeah, you window paying suckers, not only will we ask for $200 to stand in ever long lines while chairs are leaving half empty, but we'll roll a dice before admitting you, because there is a herd of pass-holders who can't wait to justify their passes in 3-4 visits, and they all have a priority. Do these Vail/Alterra monsters have a feedback form somewhere? I'll suggest to raise window prices to $400, so that most folks will sleep soundly thinking that their pass will pay for itself in less than two visits, almost in one. Plus, should they decide to close again, it's psychologically easier go over "less than two" missed visits than a whole blown season. Brilliant. Totally lost touch with reality. I like someone's idea here about going to Brighton and also stopping by three other resorts nearby. But will he be able to, with his single odd tickets, on the days he wants/planned/reserved? European resorts appear to be all out of reach to US citizens. If before I was just envying those EU passport holders who after a short brake on the runway continued their flight through the automated passport control while I had to stand in a long line, right now I'm borderline hating them for not having to procure any reason to cross into Italy, Austria, France or whatever. Even local skiing is screwed. CB asking to pay for parking?? Go to hell. PSAA school ski passes suspended for this season. Pocono Cards likely following the suit thereby making it more $$ visiting places of other color or just taking someone along to Blue. I bet even Blue's triple cards will not be available. Yeah, go ahead, look into your crystal ball and reserve your visit month in advance. No? Well, window price then! That is if we have any windows open, because, you know, COVID... And btw, good luck with thinking that New Yorkers or New Jerseyans will sit the season out and there will not be mile-long lines at Blue because of fears of COVID. Nobody fears COVID in real life except for government and businesses that were forced to fear it. People take their masks off the moment they're not forced to wear them, and radio stations are actually calling to everybody to revolt. So the first snowflakes fall, they'll all just say: "Screw you, Murphy, I'm going skiing!" But where to ski and how??4 points

I've said it from day 1. Most data that gets reported in terms of Covid is trash data and you cannot make a meaningful conclusion from it. I'm going to ski this year, i'm going to snowboard this year. I'm going to have fun doing it. I'm still hanging around in the lot afterwards and I'll likely get on an airplane at some point this winter to go play skiing. Maybe I won't shove my hand in the communal cheese ball bucket and maybe there will be more solo cups involved when sharing tasty beverage sips.4 points

Just gonna point out that that is the exact goal of the 'fake news', 'Lame Stream Media' gas lighting. Just say over and over again that all news sources (except of course the one you are watching or listening to) are wrong, corrupt, lying, working for the democrats.....until people just start accepting it, and then suddenly there is an easy excuse as to why a journalist is pointing out your failings....they are lying! You can't believe them! And suddenly, you have no 'credible' source holding you accountable. In the case of right wing media, who have been perpetrating this gaslighting for decades, they just want people not to trust anyone but this to drive ratings. And it really works.3 points

Nah...there are a lot of things big cities offer that other areas don't. I couldn't ever live in one, but I do understand why people do.2 points

I asked a LEO family member and he said if you have a LCTF (you’re welcome @AtomicSkier) and your spouse has a medical card, it’s not an issue. An individual cannot posses both however.2 points

Not sure if they are allowing eat-in or what right now, but Teresa's Next Door on North Wayne Ave. is my favorite beer bar of all time. My wife and I celebrate every birthday there sitting at the bar. No TV's just talk with people like in the old days and put that fucking phone away! The bartenders are ridiculous with their knowledge of beer, whiskey and biodynamic wines. You gotta try it if you haven't been there before. I have a feeling you will like it too.2 points

I'm fleeing the crumbling and corrupt city of Philadelphia for the safety and security of Wayne. It should be noted that this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that my lease ended and the suburbs are much closer to work and school. I made the decision based exclusively on the fact that the Mayor was caught eating indoors when he banned indoor eating in the city.2 points

A few heavy wet inches of snow. Lots of trees down around town. We had some tree damage. Keeping an eye on a large branch that if it goes down it may cause some roof damage. Fingers crossed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Then there is this article from a week ago that says Sturgis was no problem. https://trendingpolitics.com/nope-turns-out-the-sturgis-biker-rally-was-no-covid-super-spreader-after-all/?fbclid=IwAR0ZsigPdAWQ3SWW0ECi3cF-Dn7D0okayTbpnN2T4-gFKfmI96CMC6pw4iw#utm_source=dtp&utm_medium=facebook Somewhere in between is the truth i guess. Not that i was ever big into watching or reading news ever, but who really knows what the truth is anymore? I could post article after article of some bullshit thats in the news that im passionate about, but really, how does one know its true?2 points

People make fun of me for wearing my favorite cap. I call it my Traveling Cap because it has been everywhere I've traveled. Been to more countries than most people (13). It is 18 years old, almost to the day. It pretty much never left my head from age 17-25. Fuck. I just went through some pictures and found some gems of this cap. Thanks for that @Benm1 point

Reminds me of Green Acres. A lot of the things people love about big cities has been eroded during the pandemic. Shopping, restaurants, nightlife, entertainment...the glitz and the glamour have been replaced by expensive takeout and peaceful protests..1 point

I think they are just trying to look at things in the aggregate. Example: The Toyota corolla is a wildly popular car and lots of people are buying them. "Yeah but my two friends just bought Tahoes and my aunt just got a Tesla." No one is denying that these 3 bought Chevys and Teslas but as a whole Toyotas are more popular.1 point

Def more expensive. Got mine card in May and the edibles are great but they’re not as fun since it’s not candy.1 point

No act here, unlike you, I care about all races and income levels. Keep in mind, you said people who get businesses handed to them from their families work harder than Mexican landscapers, which is bullshit and racist. Also, your man told me point blank to my face that mommy and daddy bought you that motorcycle. Unlike you, everything I have in life other than one family trip (how dare I spend time with the people who raised me?) is paid for by me. You paid for that lake house huh? (My family only has 1 home) Edit: sucks this had to turn into personal attacks BTW. Didn’t want it to come to this. However, as John Rambo once said “They drew first blood, sir.”1 point

You have a point and I have not reason to disbelieve that this person you're mentioning and some others are leaving the city due to violence/looting/rioting etc. Other than a few stores being boarded up (including the Acme and Wawa which were annoying) and the group that stands on Lincoln Drive during rush hour with their black lives matters signs I can say ***Anecdotally** that most of the unrest, etc. has not affected me that much. My opinion of this might be quite different had I been living in the center city area when these protests are happening. All I'm really saying is that there isn't a granular level of detail recorded when people are moving out of cities. There are scores of reasons to leave the major cities right now and I've said for years one of the silliest things we as humans have done is decide that we need to live so incredibly densely packed together, it's not natural and causes more headaches than it's really worth. That being said people are indeed leaving cities, myself included, and all we really have in terms of data on it is where they move from and where they move to. I'm assuming most of this comes from the Post Office records when you file for a change of address with them. The answer is that yes, everyone is right. People are leaving to avoid violence, people are leaving because Covid caused them to not be able to afford it, people are leaving because there are too many restrictions on them now, they are leaving because cities are not nearly as fun now as they used to be, they are leaving because their newly remote job allows them to go anywhere they please. Oddly enough I don't fall into any of these categories! Statistician mumbo jumbo sucks, but that's how you draw meaningful conclusions from big things. The worst part of all of this is that due to the lack of distinct data, you can bend the numbers to prove your own point. In a world where computers and smartphones make it insanely easy to obtain information one of the most powerful things you can do is admit to yourself that you just don't have an answer. Depends on what hat I'm wearing that day.1 point

It also helps when you screw with the data to make your point... https://www.thecity.nyc/platform/amp/coronavirus/2020/6/14/21290963/nyc-covid-19-trackers-skipping-floyd-protest-questions-even-amid-fears-of-new-wave1 point
